Help me pic a new smartphone (have few candidates)

Hi guys. It's time to change my desire z at lest.
The price I am considering is somewhat around how much new xperia s consts.
I want at big screen, GOOD CAMERA pictures, good build quality. And overall fluidness of system. Dont care about 3d games that much but it would be nice to play some from time to time. battery life? I know I cant expect much but would be nice if it was not terrible.
Main candidates - feel free to add other options
Sony Xperia S (new) - It looks like good device. Only con is 2core cpu but it is highly clocked and camera seems nice?
HTC one X (used) - dont know about camera(it sure looks like its about to get scratched)
galaxy s3(used)
Nexus4 (used)

I'd go for Nexus 4. I'm just a no-go for the rest of them. I have an S3, and I'm more "wanting" for the Nexus 4 (if not for the low storage capabilities).

Not sure about the specs on the Xperia, but of the other three I'd say S3. Having an extra SD card is nice if you're going to take a lot of pictures/video - and can save you when it comes to custom ROMs and such. And being able to just switch the battery out is pretty great, too.

I'm loving my Galaxy Note 2. After I quit using my Galaxy Nexus for about a week, the large screen doesn't feel TOO big anymore. It's now comfortably large. With Jelly 'Beans' ROM installed, it is even better.

Choose the Nexus 4!

So most people say s3. It takes better pictures than xperia s ?
Also it looks a bit too flimsy and plasticy.
about nexus4. Isnt it overheating? I've seen videos about that.
I dont need sd slot if there is 8gb or more onboard

Nexus 4 is brilliant. Mum got it as her new phone which I recommended and loves it. Played with it quite a bit and haven't noticed any overheating at all. The camera is very sharp and since the phone was designed for jellybean 4.2 already it runs very smooth. Plenty of storage space too. Also feels and looks a more solid build than the S3.
In the end your own decision mate. Both S3 and Nexus 4 are great phones.

well nexus 4 is definietly looking better than s3. both in looks, build quality and specs. Also the price is better. I could maybe find new nexus4 in the price of used s3.
it is a no brainer. But I really want best pictures possible for android phone and that overheating... it's bugging me ;/

Looking online maybe don't upgrade to 4.2.2? It seems most issues have been related to that update. Although ALL phones I have used heat up quite a bit under extended use like gaming or skype none of them has resulted in a shut down due to reaching an excessive temperature.
I guess it all depends on how lucky you are with your specific handset if it is stable or not

The Xperia T is the flagship that preceded the Z (S3, One X, Optimus G gen), at a better price (got it for $400, aka a $100 less than the rest)
I love it, smooth, nice screen, gorgeous UI, and nice cam, having a PSN account (or Sony media account in general) will give you the most of your device,. Also, beware of the locked bootloader ones (if you're into modding)

Any logic on upgrading from Galaxy Nexus to Moto G?

Hey Guys,
I consider upgrading my Galaxy Nexus to the Moto G.
Specs are pretty similar, even in some parameters the Galaxy Nexus is better (AMOLED vs LCD, thickness, camera)
What do you think? Anyone here done this move?

I think its a better move overall. Motorola is doing some great stuffs lately. They even beats Google in terms of pushing the updates quickly. Galaxy Nexus's software support was dropped by Google but it still have the community support. I saw many people even moved from Nexus 4 to Moto G.
But from hardware perspective Moto G is bit behind them. Many touchscreen issues are popping up and returned for replacement. G's touchscreen is easy to get broken than any flagship or Nexus phones even though it has Gorilla Glass 3. You got to think twice in the hardware department.

Hey, but besides the battery life and the speaker, do you really feel like its an improvement?

To me it feels it was , I got to the point where I despised my gnex.
I've not heard or even experienced these screen issues can't comment on it.
If the moto g had a better camera it'd be even better.
All depends want you want out of your phone really. Battery life and affordability was key key for me.
Not once have I wanted my gnez back tbh

That was my dilemma before making my purchase. But the Nexus 5 is notorious for sub par battery life, poor screen viewing angles and contrast. Moto G doesn't have any of those issues and for the price it was a no brainer for me.

I had the same decision problem. It was between the Nexus 5 and the MotoG. It came down to a few factors for me: 1)The spec bump and screen size were not drastic enough for me to justify the price difference. 2)The screen size on the Nexus 5 was a drawback. I have small hands, and my assumption was that the smaller screen size combined with the rounded form factor would make the MotoG easier to hold and manipulate. 3)The poor battery life on the Nexus 5 compared to thte superior life on the MotoG.
All of those things led me to choose the MotoG over the Nexus 5, and I've been 100% pleased. I have had absolutely no issues with the touchscreen which is always accurate and responsible. The software (KK w/GEL) is buttery smooth -- I have experienced absolutely no lag from the OS in any shape, form, or fashion. Regardless of the specs, it actually operates like a high end device. Having said that, more graphic/cpu intensive games will lag to some degree but I'm not a big Android gamer -- casual games are fine by me.
The screen on the MotoG is perfectly calibrated. I've heard some G's have a pinkish tint, but I have not experienced that. My guess is that they use two different screen vendors, so it may be a roll of the device; however, even the pink tinted screens are still supposedly excellent.
Battery life has been phenomenal.
Unlocking the bootloader and rooting was a piece of cake.
The only big complaint is the camera, but I carry around my Sony NEX-5R most places I go so that's not a huge deal for me.
Overall, this is one of the best phones I've ever owned. The "flagship" phones I've had in the past were always something of a disappointment. I never liked Sense, TouchWiz, etc. which adversely affected performance to the point that it never really felt like I actually had a high-end device. That always led me to root and flash a custom ROM, but I shouldn't have had to do that in order to get a nice user experience.
The MotoG is fantastic. I give it an A+ when you consider its price in relation to its features and usability.

I ended up upgrading to the nexus 5 from a galaxy nexus, but I simultaneously got a moto g for my girlfriend, so I've had a great way of comparing the 2.
The nexus 5 is obviously the better device(no doubt about it), and the battery problems are non existent(at least on my unit, I get very consistent battery life in terms of screen on time at around 4,5 hours). It's definitely one of the best devices on the market and at a fair price much below the immediate competition.
The moto g is obviously a mid range device in comparison, but it is a lot more capable than most other phones on the market and is all around a great phone(definitely worth the cheap upgrade from a galaxy nexus). In direct comparison with the nexus 5 it has a slightly worse camera(the nexus 5 camera is not top notch either though) and slightly better battery life in my experience.
Software vise they are very similar, and since a gpe moto g has been released, they can both expect timely updates.
All in all they are both worth the upgrade from the galaxy nexus(though I had kept it for another year, if I hadn't dropped it and cracked the screen). It comes down to how you use the phone(camera and gaming performance etc.), and your preference in screen size, and price. you get great value for the money with both compared to any other smartphone, though a little more value for money with the moto g.

I've got both, on Verizon though. My typical phone is a Galaxy S4, but my gf broke her GS4, so she stole mine in the meantime. My old backup phone was a Galaxy Nexus, and my current phone is the Moto G. All that said, here's my take.
Moto G Pros:
- Cheap
- Better battery life than Galaxy Nexus
- More responsive
- Feels better in hand & pocket
- Feels sturdier
- Moderately better camera
Moto G Cons:
- Locked bootloader on Verizon (no root or roms)
- No LTE
- Only comes with 8GB storage, with 5.5 usable
- No 802.11 5GHz support
- No BT 4.0 LE (has BT 4.0)
- No KitKat
- No tethering support (I pay for metered data too!, currently using FoxFi USB)
If I didn't depend on my phone for work, I would've bought a good condition Galaxy Nexus or GS3 from Swappa. But the Moto G is acceptable for the next week.

I had the Galaxy Nexus before my Moto G, its definitely worth the upgrade for the battery alone, even with extended battery the Nex was terrible with battery life, similar specs but the moto G runs much better, my Nex was lag-tastic, I see no difference in pics, both are mediocre in that department.

Ae you just talking aobut the Verizon version, the G does have Kitkat and there's a 16 gig version, I dont agree with the Nexus having better battery at all, it was actually terrible, the G's battery is so much better, not even close.

Please reread my post. Yes I'm talking about the Verizon variant, XT1028. Yes I know the GSM has a 16gb option, even a GPE. I wish I that was a viable choice, but I have a tendency of working in the barren deserts of California. Somehow Verizon's EVDO/LTE coverage out there is sufficently reliable.
Also, I said the "Better battery life than Galaxy Nexus", as a "Moto G Pro" and not a Con.
I really like the Moto G. It's just very limited. I would say its very similar to the experience of using an iPhone 4. Fixed & limited storage, snappy for the OS at the time, nice to hold and use. But there are better options out there.

I upgraded from a Nexus 4 and I'm very happy: battery life is awesome and the phone is still smooth, Moto G display is way better than the Galaxy Nexus one (I owned a Galaxy Nexus)

I am using Galaxy Nexus with CM11 M11 at the moment. Is it worthy to upgrade to Moto G 2014? How much faster do you guys feel when upgrading from GaNex to Moto G 2014 in term of a normal user: Maps, GPS, Gmail, Facebook, Instagram, photo taking - NO gaming.
Is 1GB of RAM giving you lagging when switching between apps? Is Nexus 5 more worthy for the upgrade rather than Moto G 2014?

The Moto G is worth it, my dad has a Gnexus and my Moto G is much faster. However, the camera is bad

Go for a nexus 5 if you can get it cheap. The moto g is all fine but its camera...not so. If you plan on keeping your phone for a bit longer, go for the nexus 5

definitely talking about the 2013 Moto G. Can't say much about the 2014 because I don't own one. Again I stand with what I said earlier, in the long run the Nexus 5 will serve you better

Thanks for the confirmation. Btw, do you feel a lot of lag with your Moto G (the hardware is identical with Moto G 2014)? Like when browsing Internet then switching to either Maps, FB, Instagram or Camera, etc.

i have few question for z3 users

hello mates right now i have a htc one x and i really want to make it retired and leave it to my sister.
in my country iphone 6 is very expensive and with that specs for me its an waste of money, 6+ is very big , 6 is perfect for me but have something like 1800 mah or 1900 mah battery my hox already have 1800 mah and its a pain.
im stuck between z3, g3, and m8. z3 have superior specs than rivals and epic battery life which is very important for me. if you ask why? im using my htc one x nearly 2 years. with this months 21. day it will be complete 2 year. i never used my phone without power saving. getting into clash of clans and collecting the resources drains %10 of my battery.
right now i wanna ask you guys how is the z3? still it didnt released in my country (im from turkey,the land of great taxes) so i dont have any idea about phone. i just saw some pictures, watch reviews and read some specs thats it
my hox have a wifi problem which is a design fault edit: also i send my phone to the guarantee like 4th time because of wifi problem
did z3 have any problems? i heard about glass cracking problem but it only showed up 0.6% of the z3's
my head little bit mixed between this amiral ships.
for the m8 im really scaring about battery which is 2600 mah
but i really love its design. also im really get used to sense ui after sense z3's ui looks bit ugly
anyway if you guys can guide me i will be very happy

Depends on what you want really.
One M8 is huge and has a smaller screen than both Z3 and G3.
Z3 and M8 have much better speakers than the G3.
Z3 and M8 are more premium design than G3.
G3 has higher res screen, but there's no point in having 1440p screens on a smartphone.
Z3 has far brighter screen than M8 or G3.
Z3 has far better battery life than M8 or G3.
G3 feels much better in the hand compared to M8 or Z3.
M8 has the better software compared to G3 and Z3. HTC are very good with updates as well.
One thing I will say, all three phones are very easy to drop. Z3 is slippery glass, G3 slippery plastic, M8 slippery metal. G3 and Z3 are much easier to hold though due to them being much smaller than the M8.

I'll try to sum up my personal impression:
The Z3 is a great phone. Playing 3D games, I had like 10% drain in one hour. The screen is very nice, it's slightly cold white balance is only noticable when you have a warm light source nearby and it can easily be corrected with apps or the built-in settings. The speakers are clear and headphone output is great. Performance is awesome too, I haven't noticed any lagging.
If you're interested in technical stuff: Cores 2 and 3 are sleeping most of the time even with the phone in use and all energy saviing disabled, which in my opinion means that low-level CPU control is quite good. Charging speed is 0.5% per minute on the stock 1.5A charger. Call quality is great, though I'm just sending my unit back as people can barely hear me when I use the built-in micropone. On the headset that came with it (Sony MH750, not noise cancelling), sound quality is great.
I like the stock UI, but if you like Sense, it's likely quite a bit different. Unlocking the bootloader means losing a few features at the moment, but if you really want Sense on it, I'm sure there will be a port coming sometime - you're not the only one.
I have had zero problems with WiFi at home and university (eduroam) so far, but there is at least one more thread where someone complains about WiFi-performance, so it's a definitive statement.
I can't say much about fragility. I have never used a phone without a cover / case, though things tend to fall down from my hands. I'll see how the Z3 holds up to that. I also take the phone out of my pocket before I sit down.

Let me tell you that the software has a much bigger impact on battery life than the hardware, especially with two devices as similar as the M8 and Z3 (hardware-wise). If you can get your hands on an M8, install something like "Battery Monitor" or "3C toolbox" and see if you can get a few readings while using the phone as you would normally (normal brightness etc.). So while it's true that the M8 has a smaller battery, it doesn't mean that the impact on runtime is the same as the difference in capacity.

thx for answers. i really liked the m8 i will look for it one more time so its still in list. how is the z3's durability? i always use my phones with case and screen protection.
is z3 and z3c's cpu better than m8, g3 and s5?
and did z3 have heat problem like at the z2?

i never notices it have 2gb ram. i just check it you're right m8 have 2gb ram
so z3 have superior ram, camera, battery on m8 but what about cpu?
edit: also did z3 have heat problem like z2 have?

I own 2 G3's (F460S, D850) currently and here's my take:
The G3 has the best camera (OIS and laser for fast auto focusing , faster than any phone I've used)
The 2k screen is noticeably better (I had a Note 3 before this and you can tell the difference in resolution)
The speaker on the G3 is louder/better sounding than the Note 3 and S5 (I haven't tested it against the m8)
The G3 UI is very clean and simple without being too heavy.
The G3 is the size of the Z3 maybe a little smaller with a bigger screen.
I love my G3's but I'll probably get a Z3 as a backup phone however I don't think I'd use it as a primary.

I have had the d850 "ATT Brand" G3 for awhile now. Having had an HTC for my last 3 phones I was hesitant, but I've grown very fond of the G3. It is very simple u.I. great screen and battery life as well. Most features stock on G3 are what people were wanting on an AOSP ROM after rooting. I thought this was awesome! I'm coming from the HTC One and while the Boomsound speakers sounded great at first they deteriorated over time. The G3s speaker is excellent and with good quality tones or music the hi-fi shines and sounds great. Everyone will have different opinions or problems, likes/dislikes with any product. Actually they're all great devices I'd pick the one which best suits you. Good luck!

I would say go for the M8 or the Z3. Both are excellent.
The M8 handles gaming better on the battery, the speakers on the M8 are far better than the Z3, so is headphone volume.
Screens are comparable, but Z3 is brighter, M8 is better quality (White balance etc) in my opinion.
Can't go far wrong with either. Z3 if you aren't gaming too much, M8 if speaker quality and gaming are important.
Camera is probably a little better on Z3 except with moving targets.

i didnt get the "m8 handles gaming better on battery" part. i love gaming but m8 have 2600 mah battery, z3 have 3100 mah battery also got 2 power saver modes (stamina, ultra stamina)
i read on websites they said m8 have the worst camera compared to its rivals. z3 have solid 20.7 mp but m8 have 4mp with a ultrapixel sensor.
also i heard boomsound is worse than beats?
anyway its an old smartphone compared to its rivals. first i was waiting for m9 but it will released at 2015 first quarter.its a long time and i cant continue with hox anymore

The screen is very nice, it's slightly cold white balance is only noticable when you have a warm light source nearby and it can easily be corrected with apps or the built-in settings. If you're interested in technical stuff: Cores 2 and 3 are sleeping most of the time even with the phone in use and all energy saviing disabled, which in my opinion means that low-level CPU control is quite good. Charging speed is 0.5% per minute on the stock 1.5A charger. Call quality is great, though I'm just sending my unit back as people can barely hear me when I use the built-in micropone. I like the stock UI, but if you like Sense, it's likely quite a bit different. Unlocking the bootloader means losing a few features at the moment, but if you really want Sense on it, I'm sure there will be a port coming sometime - you're not the only one.
I have had zero problems with WiFi at home and university (eduroam) so far, but there is at least one more thread where someone complains about WiFi-performance, so it's a definitive statement.
I can't say much about fragility. I have never used a phone without a cover / case, though things tend to fall down from my hands. I'll see how the Z3 holds up to that. I also take the phone out of my pocket before I sit down.
Now, about battery size: You seem to worry about the 2600 mAh M8 battery vs. 3100 mAh in the Z3. Let me tell you that the software has a much bigger impact on battery life than the hardware, especially with two devices as similar as the M8 and Z3 (hardware-wise). My old HTC Desire HD drew around 400 mA with the screen on and in use, the Z3 with it's much bigger screen and faster CPU takes around 260 mA. If you can get your hands on an M8, install something like "Battery Monitor" or "3C toolbox" and see if you can get a few readings while using the phone as you would normally (normal brightness etc.). The Sense UI might use more or less power than the Sony one, for example. So while it's true that the M8 has a smaller battery, it doesn't mean that the impact on runtime is the same as the difference in capacity.
I did not compare the Z3 to the M8 before buying it because I don't like Sense since 3.5, and because I really wanted to have a long battery life, so I can't compare it any further, sorry.

well i mosty use whatapp, 3G Mobile Data is nearly always online, and play some games after the htc one x experience im thinking twice for htc

well my friend is using a g2. i was recommend it to him when he was a bit confused between samsung and lg and he was a samsung fan.
he just love it, also he says "you must get g3, i test it and after the g2 experience i totally recommend it to you, you must be insane if you not think to buy g3"
also i loved the laser focusing but some users says in turkish forums they having issues with laser focusing.
well in my country these phones are bit expensive. i mean im pretty sure i will use it min 1 year so im just trying to do the right choice for myself.

I have never had an issue with the laser focusing and I have had a G3 since it launched in Korea back in late may/early June. The G3 is a good phone I do like the Sony as well but it has too many issues currently for me to buy it.

well im just worried about camera(13mp s5 have 16, z3 have 20.7), battery and if i read correctly there is a little lag at the ui (mainscreen, menu etc) because of the high resolution screen
also issues like what? i only know about glass crack and overheating when recording 4k. i dont wanna buy a phone with issue anymore. my hox still in guarantee because of wifi. this is the 4th time i send them.i requested device change this time

I have used 4k recording and my phone doesn't get hot. Keep in mind I had the SD805 version of the G3. Also while battery life isn't as good as Sony (I get 5hours SOT on a good day ) I can replace the battery in less than 20 seconds. I have 2 batteries since my phone is the Korean version and it comes with a spare battery and charger. This is why the battery life isn't a big deal. The biggest thing I want is a waterproof phone, I love my G3 and I plan to keep it but the waterproofing is what I like about Sony. My wife has a s5 and I hate the physical home button so I thought Sony would be a good choice.
My phone has 0 lag I uploaded a short video of the onscreen nav of my phone I'll post the link down below. Its very smooth (~48k on antutu is pretty good) and I'm running the stock ROM rooted with no performance mods. If I ran AOSP it would certainly be faster and get better battery life. Each has their own advantage I will eventually get Sony or another as a backup, I just don't want to go through the hassle of getting s lemon.

Xperia Z3 or Moto X (2014 2nd generation)?

I hope this is appropriate to ask here. I am receiving my new Z3 today (exchanged due to camera defect) and I am debating whether to sell it and buy a Motorola X (2014) instead. Part of this is because after owning the Z3 and seeing too many issues with the camera (defective camera, water-colored camera quality, pink spots on specific background) and bad QA (screen leak), this keeps me on the edge about continuing to own this premium phone. I absolutely love everything else about the phone, the build quality, screen, etc.
Then I looked at the Moto X (2014) and noticed it had similar specs, minus some other features. It is definitely a little cheaper. The big thing is I do not want to go above 5.2" screen at the moment--it is already too big for my pockets. I don't know much about the new Moto X and its problems, but the Z3 makes me feel uneasy about the purchase. One of the big thing for me is the phone camera and quality (MP is not too important). Before selling the Z3, I want to know what you think. Thanks in advance.

My first Z3 had screen leak but new one is perfect. Both are great devices. The Z3 has far greater batter life and AMOLED is prone to burn in for heavy users and eats through battery on web pages though.

I was having the same debate but picked the Z3, even though some ave camera issues all I hear is the Moto X 2014 camera is a very sub par camera, as well as having a super small battery that some say barely gets them though the day. I think the Z3 is a much better device overall.

In this scenario. The Z3 is the Mercedes and the Moto X is the Honda lol. Meaning the X is not a bad device but the Z3 is just way more luxurious.

Had a quick look at the Moto-X while at my local Costco. Not digging the design and build quality at all. The Z3 really feels like a premium device next to the X.
While I'm sure the Moto is a great handset overall, one really needs to question the decision to include a low-capacity battery and exclude a SD card slot.
Sony truly is the miniaturization experts. I have a Sony A7 camera and it still boggles my mind how they've been able to cram a full-frame sensor into such a small camera body. Likewise, only Sony can figure out how to cram a 3100mah battery, SD card slot, 20mp camera, and stereo speakers into a phone with similar overall dimensions to other flagship phones that lack all of the aforementioned.

If you do buy the X, buy it directly from Moto, they offer one time screen replacement just like HTC.

Got the Z3 today. Shot this with the HTC One M7 (with the purple haze issue). Notice the USB flap has a larger gap on the left than on the right. Nothing I can do to adjust that. That's Sony's quality assurance for you. :/

Moto X (2014) vs Moto X Play & Style

So we've seen the hands-on videos, we've seen the specs and we've seen the release dates. We're psyched. We don't know yet if we need to choose one from the 2015 line-up or stick to what we have already/upgrade to a Moto X (2014).
It's time to discuss with fellow possessors of the Moto X line what Motorola did good in your opinion and what it did bad this year around with the Play and Style.
Personally I'm much more attracted to the Play rather than the Style but is the 615 processor much of a downgrade? It's tagged as a mid-spec phone but it's not in my eyes, and most of you can surely agree.
Camera quality has been addressed (hopefully).
Play has a whooping 3630 mah battery, so it feels like a midder-speced Droid Turbo. It even has the same weight (169 grams).
Higher screen size, higher screen to body ratio. Hopefully this won't me such a big issue as I believe Motorola made them STILL with the ergonomics in mind.
How will the build quality be? The Play version doesn't seem to resemble the X (2014) as much as the Style does in terms of aesthetics and build quality.
So...fellow citizens: Upsides, Downsides? Discuss.

I play a few, graphically not to high end games (Blek, Candy Crush,...) and have currently a Huawei P8.
If I knew the 615 performs good enough for daily stuff (maybe on par with the Nexus 5?) I'd definitely try it out...

I'm in the same boat as you. I feel the 615 should be more than enough as far as performance goes for running the browser, Google Inbox, etc. I'm not much of a mobile gamer, only really play some of the lighter games included in the last few humble bundles such as Ridiculous Fishing and Threes!.
I'm waiting on some early reviews to come in, but I really do hope that this will be the perfect phone for our use cases.

same here ... not worried about the SD 615 tho but more about build quality since i love my moto X and it's amoled display, i can live without amoled but not without a decent build quality..
the battery and the camera are huge improvents for sure that's why i'm thinking of buying one X Play ^^

I'm fairly sure the Verizon version (Turbo 2 name has already been registered) will be the one to get. It will likely be like the Play, but better cpu, wireless charging, likely qhd screen.
Only downsides are it will be a Verizon exclusive, and no unlocked bootloader.

I was reading somewhere that Motorola might want to make the X Play as the EU "version" of Droid Turbo.

I mainly use the rear cam would love decent low light pics, browsing, feedly, youtube and some gaming, with minimal call and whatsapp.

And best of all no shizwiz, jokes apart i had a Moto G gen 1 (2y ago) and really liked it, with a stock mid range system the experience is smoother, unlike the top end hardware of the S6 that works so hard and feels sluggish

That's what 99% of the manufactorers don't get and stick to there UIs, which are all much to heavy on the hardware...

I need a new phone for my girlfriend. She had a moto g 2013, and I want to buy the moto x play..but..in Spain it costs 395 euros. I think it´s a little expensive for a midrange. So i´m considering the new xiaomi redmi note 2 with the mediatek helio x10 and only 140 euros, what do you think guys? I don´t know what to do.

The two things the play has that i like over the style are the 1080p screen and much larger battery . Those 2 combined will probably kill the style on battery life.
Dont like:
Smaller screen
No dual speakers mono only
Its not as visually appealing
Mid range processor
2gb only of ram
The small screen and lack of stereo speakers are deal breakers for me. The other stuff i could probably live with.

thanks for that! for my scenarios, the SD615 will do just fine (web browsing, social media, taking photos/editing, call/sms). can't wait for it to arrive, just (pre)ordered it yesterday on a german site

What I really find puzzling is the LCD screen. Why throw away the advantage of amoled in handling the active display? If it turns out to be well thought about (e.g. a mode in which the screen only turns on upon sensor activity instead of being continuously lit to display notifications) I'll be buying the play.
