Yay! Canadian Galaxy S5 users finally get the lollipop update that has been delayed for so long!
I will link you guys to Sammobile and you can download from there:
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-G900W8/
Yes this needed its own thread because there wasn't a thread for the Sm-G900W8 model which is disappointing. Enjoy Lollipop.

okay so far i think my s5 is stuck in a bootloop. i followed the instructions exactly. flshed twrp then booted into recovery then flashed the supersu.zip. now its stuck. not sure what i did wrong. my phone is unlocked g900w8 model.
Booted back into recovery and wiped cache and dalvik cache. dont know if it will make a difference.
still seems like its in a bootloop.

Here is what I learned and did. Install TWRP via ODIN. Then after first re-boot, boot into recovery and install SU zip.
Worked like a charm!!!
Good Buy Bell Bloatware...
Can someone make a pre-rooted version of this we can install via twrp or cwm???

Here it is. Just flash the new TWRP with Odin. Then make sure you install the new G900W8 kernel included with it. It works much better than the BOB7 kernel. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2732110
That one is the international rom. I found that had trouble and lag on my device vs a tmobile or Canadian version. I'm hoping for the full Canadian rooted base for w8 with bootloader and modem update included.
Having trouble flashing TWRP via ODIN on Bell Lollipop 5.0 SW-G900W8. Followed all the steps over and over still not flashing when go into bootloader it is not TWRP . Operating on Windows 8.1.
Hey Folks,
I successfully rooted my S5 - G900WA (ROGERS).
I successfully installed CM 12.1 ...
My only issue is that I am getting 3G network instead of LTE...
Does anyone have a link for an updated MODEM?
Let me know!
Thanks
I got a Galaxy S5 G900W8 stuck in "Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008" mode. I tried looking for a solution on gsm forum but unfortunately its only for G900F. From my understanding I need to fix bootloader on this device but couldn't find any resources.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

The problem is there is no download mode. Phone is completely dead and all it does is shows up as "Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008" when connected to PC and Odin won't detect it. It can only be revived using QFIL but I have no files

yes, I already tried that but I can't get the disk drive to show up on partition tools. It does not appear as eMmc storage so I figured I am in the old Qualcomm 9008 mode as per that article. I tried each of those steps on my 2nd laptop which is 100% clean of any mobile drivers. There are no drives appearing on windows disk management either other than my hdd.

FAQ's :
Q. I am getting stock recovery instead of CWM touch recovery. Why is that ?
Two reasons : 1. If your firware is updated through KIES the odin cannot reach the block in which the recovery is there.
Solution : Flash any Stock Firmware through Odin and then flash the recovery.
2. Random issue is spotted where the recovery does not flash after the above solution too.
Solution : Uncheck auto-reboot. After Odin says PASS remove battery and re-insert it, Now you can enter CWM !
Q. Why is my download not ending even though md5 is verified?
Solution : If you are using the USB cable which came with the phone please change it , it is damn slow !
Q. COM port is not turning up !!!!!!
Solution : Update your ADB driver or install it properly.
Q. All of the above is correct, then why the hell odin is not flashing the recovery ?
Solution : Try flashing through odin3 v3.07(try googling it for download),then too you can't get it right then the hell demon is in your mobile he'll not let you do this

You must be missing something or doing something wrong.
What version of ODIN do you have ? I have used v3.07
Have you enabled the "USB debugging" in android's Developer options ?
Give us more details on the exact procedure/steps that you are doing.

Not sure if I did something wrong, also I had Odin v3.04 I downloaded/used Odin v3.07 afterwards, but that still did not work.
These are the steps I did.
1. I downloaded the ABD drivers
2. Downloaded the recovery from this thread
3. Turned off my device
4. Went to odin mode
5. Connected my usb cable to my mobile
6. The mobile got detected through Odin3
7. I selected CWM through PDA
8. Clicked start
9. Waited till it went succesfull
10. Turned my phone yet again off
11. Tried to go to CWM, but instead I went to Android system recovery
Also dev. options were enabled.

OK, here are some other things that may help with troubleshooting:
- I have the i9105P model (with NFC)
- The drivers installed from KIES tough this should not make any difference.
- The firmware version installed on my phone using ODIN is I9105XXAMB2 downloaded from here: http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=GT-I9105P
For the non-NFC version I cannot see a similar firmware version but I see that there is an I9105DDAMB2 version built on 12 Feb
Maybe chotu222 is can tell if the firmware revision on the phone should make any difference.

Can you boot to download mode?
If so try connecting to Samsung kies application for windows and see if it the emergency recovery will work on your device, it depends if Samsung has made your stock firmware available in kies yet. If they have added support for it in kies or if the stock firmware has been made available for download then you should be able to use kies to do the recovery or if the firmware is available online somewhere or at sammobile.com then you can download it and use Odin to recover it. I don't know if your stock firmware is available anywhere though but you can start a search if you can find out what the build number of your stock firmware is, find your build number and do a search for it, or you can try finding someone that has been successful in rooting theirs and have them use terminal emulator to pull a ROMdump of the stock ROM into an .img file that can be used to flash to your device as long as PC recognizes your device and your device can get into the right mode.

Download your complete stock firmware for your device's model number and flash it through Odin.
Then find the correct rooting method and start over.

If you can get to download mode then you can download your stock firmware file and flash it through Odin. Look it up, do a Google search for "stock firmware (your device model number)", this should give you links to your firmware, download it and place it where you can find it on PC.
Then do a Google search for "USB drivers for Samsung phones", install the drivers, install Samsung kies(can be found with a Google search) if you need to and it will install your drivers correctly.
Then do a Google search for Odin 3.10 and install it on PC.
Boot phone to download mode. Connect device to PC with stock cable, open Odin, if the device is recognized you'll get a blue or yellow comm# box and it will say <ADDED> in the dialogue box in Odin, select the AP button in Odin, browse to where you put your stock firmware on your PC and select it, when back in Odin screen, click Start, let it flash and you'll get a green PASS and the device will reboot, let it boot and load, it will be slow, after booting sign in and you're good to go.

Are you sure you're flashing the correct stock firmware for your device model number?
Try flashing and if it gives you the bootloop, try booting to recovery and doing a wipe cache then reboot, if that doesn't work, try booting to recovery again and doing a factory reset in recovery and wipe cache then reboot.
If that works to get the pre rooted firmware booted into system and you want to get back to stock I can tell you how to unroot your device and leave it that way or unroot and then flash the original non rooted stock firmware.

You may need to install samsung usb drivers or install them on another computer and try there

Hi,
Thanks for the help. Watched the video and follow his steps...
But now suddenly the hidden.img flashes on the phone.
So I get a green pass by Odin.
But phone doesn't start!
Tried "auto reboot" on and also off.
It doesn't fail anymore.
Deleted the hidden.img file and flashed it afterwards.
I can't get him alive. I'm gonna try other official firmwares with an older android version. I don't get it.... Why only download mode? Not even recovery opens. #notgivingup
should I try to root it with cf root and try to get a recovery mode on it? This phone needs to be wiped I guess.
try to get into recovery , and give general reset....
or try to install twrp -to install a custom rom...
does not make downgrade to android , it can break

excuse me for delayed reply , it does not have to be root , (Enable USB debugging and OEM unlock ) but unfortunately you can not do it , but you can try if it works

Could it be that I super hard bricked this phone by flashing everything over and over? I always think, as long the phone boots in download mode you're pretty safe.
Can't flash twrp, stock recovery.....
No official firmware is booting the phone up. I used to have the hidden.img problem but nog every firmware flash completes but still doesn't boot the phone.
Is there an order in which I need to try to flash? Like, try firmware first, then a recovery,.... Or first a bootloader and modem, then a firmware...
Oh God help me!
Thanks for the replies I already got!
normal you should first bootloader ...after firmware
you tried that job ? https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/general/guide-repair-hard-bricked-devices-t3573865

Wow that link is a whole lot of Chinese for me. but I'll look into it this weekend! Thanks for keeping up with me. My phone still boots in download so I'm a step ahead. Gonna try flashing stock firmware without auto-boot ticked in Odin, then reset and restart phone manually in download mode and try to flash right bootloader. Should I go for the latest firmware or more like a 6.0.1 firmware?
firmware 7. is to good , why use it 6. ?
"Wow that link is a whole lot of Chinese for me. " lol for me too

Well because I flashed like a couple of firmwares... And heard about downgrading is bad but... Yeah this isn't really downgrading.... Im just trying to wake up my friends phone. I will try to flash the latest firmware and then the bootloader right after it.
Hi guys,
So still no luck. Flashed latest stock firmware, tried flashing bootloader right after the successful flash, no luck. Tried rooting with cf-root, which completes but no custom recovery... Not booting. So yeah I'm on that download mode again. Anyone has some solutions I could try? Could I try converting a custom Rom zip to a tar file and flash it with Odin?
Thanks!
Hey guys
So I think i'm facing a similar problem on my s6 sm-g920f. When I flashed a stock rom 7.0 it passed with no errors, but when it tried to restart it just stays at Samsung logo. I too can't access recovery mode, only download mode. And when I try to do the "removing battery" method using volume down and power button it turns off but turns on right after and gets stuck on Samsung logo.

At least your phone is booting to the logo. I literally flashed everything! Recoveries, stock roms, tried rooting, bootloaders, stock rom with and without hidden.img...pit files.... if you find something... Let me know!
Huh am facing similar situation one s6 was in softbrick I I had odin mode successful but it showed G9280d, custom binary system official, I got a similar stock recovery then The device did boot to home screen but system wasnot stable everything stated crashing I did reboot that's when it could only stop at Android s6 then I did cross check to get it labled g920f flashing ends with either CM erorr or bootloader, in miracle it stopped at hidden or CM or pit in odin am clueless.
Man try holding V- ,home button and power key it will work just try harder. I faced it just today though mine is still.
