I'm not sure I completely understand you. When you try to unlock the bootloader does it stay locked? Or does it unlock?

Do a factory reset in the recovery.

Sounds like you have a bad emmc. You likely need to send it in for repair.

[Q] dont know if i have to unlock bootloader first

i recently switched to teamwin and i was wondering do i still have to use ez unlock to unlock the bootloader???i was using cwm with ez unlock and ez recovery..i go through goo manager and hit reboot recovery from there it goes into teamwin,do i have to use ez unlock first then go into goo manager?? please let me know..thanks..
You only need to unlock the boot loader once. As long as you didn't specifically lock the boot loader or flash back to the stock image then you still have an unlocked boot loader.
thank you for the reply

[Q] unlocking bootloader without fastboot acces?

Hi guys,
I wanted to completly reset my nexus 5, but I forgot to flash a the stock recovery, before locking the bootloader (fastboot oem lock). The problem is, fastboot devices are not shown with CWM (my current custom recovery) in bootloader mode, so my PC can't recognize my phone in fastboot mode. How can I unlock the bootloader again, so I can flash the stock recovery?
Please Help me fast
Fastboot won't work in a custom recovery. Boot to the bootloader and fastboot will work. Then unlock your device.

This might be a stupid question. Is it safe to "relock" the bootloader if I have a custom recovery and root on my device? I assume "fastboot oem lock" is all I need to do. People indicate that I shouldn't leave my device's bootloader unlocked. Will this affect things like custom recovery and my root status?
Appreciate the help.

Bootloader state has absolutely no relation to anything else. The only difference between having it locked and unlocked is certain fastboot commands, like flashing images.
Locking the bootloader is completely pointless if you have a custom recovery that doesn't use a password and/or no lock in Android.
Also, if you are rooted, install bootunlocker. The apk will let you lock/unlock from within Android without data loss. Will also let you reset tamper flags.

Thanks. I keep my device locked. I don't lock TWRP (I guess I should).
Appreciate the answer!

Bootlooping Nexus 5 Unable to Unlock Bootloader

I have a nexus 5 that keeps bootlooping, I can get into recovery and bootloader but when I run the fastboot command to unlock the bootloader it shows unlocked but as soon as I restart the phone it shows that it's locked.
I've tried unlocking and flashing but flashing things via fastboot doesn't take any effect.
I was wondering if there is any way to get the phone running or if its dead.
Thanks

Sounds to me like your emmc is fried. You're gonna have to RMA it, unfortunately.

If the "orange state" is "Your device is unlocked and cannot be trusted", you will most likely have your bootloader unlocked.

So what to do I need to lock my bootloader
No need to relock. What happens when you presses the button combination of fastboot mode (search Google)?

Take note that as soon as you re-lock the bootloader the bootloader simply gets forced to load phone's Stock ROM.
