[Q] Camera API - LG G Flex 2

Upon, doing a bit of research, the imaging sensor on the Flex2 looks to be an older Sony IMX-135, this camera is in use on the Galaxy S4 and Im seeing varying degrees of certainty on whether or not the Camera2 API will fully work on the GS4. anybody with a flex2 mind running the manual camera compatibility test?

Flex 2 does not support the new camera API stuffs. Thanks to @wolfgart for confirming.

Very bad to hear that LG don't support row mode as you have discovered.
LG : if you are reading here, check your lags on the UI.
I want to say also that is not acceptable to have lags on this UI ( i have F510K variant ) we have DDR4 modules !!!!

I don't think so.
Actually I have built some application with camera2.0 api base on TestingCamera2 to capture SENSOR_RAW data.
what is the manual camera compatibility test? does it mean CTS for camera2.0?

It is an app on the play store.
Contrary to what wolfgart and autoprime say, running the compatibility test checks as 100% compatible with camera2 api. I have not downloaded yet, because my phone is one of the lemons with weird pink squares all over my screen. Swapping in Monday.

I can also confirm the lg g flex 2 is showing as camera2 api compatible...
Ive got the Unlocked Euro version.

No.This says "Cars can't jump on trains"
And LG don't say "smartphones can't shoot auroras"
Actual UHD shooting
Pretty sure the G Pro 2 has the same camera as the G2, with the only difference being software(and the ability to record in 4K, which the G2 may or may not be capable of).

G2 hardware wise is completely capable. We could also do slow motion 120fps with the snap800. But nobody has added that in yet - and its doubtful that we will see it until someone ports g2 pros software features.

I can say that this sample videos does speak to the performance of my LG Pro 2. Will post as well with my recordings on my phone.

G Pro 2 vs G3 camera

I have search alot for an comparison between G Pro 2 and G3's camera, but havent find anything
Wounder if someone here know if there are any test on the web?
I've had both phones and I prefer the GP2 camera. Actually it was one of the reasons why I stayed on the GP2 and sold the G3. Images are more clear on the GP2 camera, especially in low light conditions, while in day light they look the same. Same thing for the videos.

The lollipop update makes video recording terrible especially in low light and interior conditions it,s grainy when with kitkat was wonderful, moreover the mode live effects is missed.

Ok, strange. An idea then is to skip the update and keep the phone running Kitktat?
Maybe using the Camera FV-5 can fix the solution?
Are the Camera FV-5 compatible with G Pro 2?

is there anyway to have manual camera settings?

is this something only Motorola can do? cant we have a kernel or custom rom with the manual camera controls enabled?
Probably not. First the manufacturer of the camera sensor used in the Moto G3 (Sony) and the manufacturer of the image processing module on the SOC (Qualcomm) would have to provide Camera 2 API drivers which support manual settings.
Afaik the main problem at the moment is Qualcomm not providing this in their drivers.
Edit: and as Qualcomm SOC are not only used by Motorola but by many other companies, I think even if Motorola would request this from Qualcomm this would not happen. Anyway, at the moment very few people are complaining about this, so I guess neither Motorola nor Qualcomm see this as an issue which needs to be addressed.

if you have cyanogenmod 12.1 or 13 you can download motorola camera with ladybug.

That sucks. Back then in gingerbread/jellybean days android used to boast of being open source. They would say that users have full freedom of customizing their android phones. They would bash iOS for being closed source. But now things are totally opposite. iOS users now have more apis available. They enjoy better apps with more stable os.

Port Google Camera v4.4 to our moto g3?

Can someody do this? The google camera v4.4 has 2 problems with our device: It requires arm64, yet there are versions for arm in xda, but then another problem appears.. it requires camera2 api.
Can someone port this to our device? Like the moto camera that requires camera2 api was ported for us.
I agree, yes please! If possible. I'm running pixel experience. Maybe the latest version with portrait mode instead?
Google camera got only ported to Snapdragon 820/821 and 835 . I am very sceptical that somebody would actually do this, I better wish that video recording could be fixed in Oreo ROMS...

TRIPLE BOUNTY THREAD :: S9 Exynos version only google camera development

Bounty Thread :: for google camera s9 (exynos version ) with pixel 2 xl as model and pixel 2017 as processing parameter with both front and back hdr+ and hdr+ enhanced working along with potrait mode.
With superb camera hardware of s9 we could make it a superb camera phone, surely better than all of its rival:fingers-crossed:

Bounty 2 and 3 is very very highly to zero chance of happening as you need samsung proprietary code to do so. Even charles chow cannot get his nexus 5x and 6p gcam port to work on non human faces.

Brother first thing is this nexus 6p and nexus 5x doesnot have dual pixel hardware needed to support for potrait mode like pixel 2. I hope you got your answer. Without hardware support you cannot make a software to execute
I understand that but there are many other devices out there that have dual pixel but cannot work already. Those devices are cheaper and easier to work on than our s9+ regardless if it's exynos or snapdragon, but no one has been able to reverse engineer google's codes.

That is true also. Fingers cross
I'll contribute $20 for the first one as long as zsl is working.
Edit: canceled as of 9/5/18, I'm selling my S9 to get the OP6T
may be looping in gcam developers will help here i guess..
please adress the flash issue, can't take a picture with flash, there's a lag between the shutter and the flash.
I'm in with 20 bucks.
I've instaled the GCam and followed the sugestion of the user drexxie1962:
"Settings:
Model: Pixel 2XL
Config camera HDR+: Nexus 6 Hdr+Auto
HDR+ parameters: Super High
Final jpg quality HDR+: 100%
Developer settings, checked camera.faceboxes"

Huge mistake, had to factory reset the phone. So there's that, beware when using the GCam for exynos as its seats.
Count me in with mine 20$

If the developers could implement this, portrait mode will be perfect?

Why it would be needed ?? All things works on s7 and s8 exynos , only s9 exynos version is not supporting pixel 2 zls and potrait mode on front camera otherwise potrait on rear works ( although laggy). Why do we need image segmentation like thing. Its pretty basic and has not been implemented yet so would be a very difficult and lengthy procedure for a dev.
If a thing is required is usage of dual pixel technology. As this will give power of potrait shootings on non- face subjects

It's quite complex to develop this kind of thing...
Maybe we can show current bounty value in the title of the thread to attract ?

Guys great news. I was able to run pixel 2 as model and pixel 2016 zls as processing settings. I dont know what triggered it. But results were awesome much better than nexus 6 as model. But now its not running and keeps force closing even after several tries. I ran it on v3.4a of cstark27. Lets hope somebody will figure it out how it got run. Also news for front camera hdr+
Has anyone got any good news??very said that it is taking so much long for our devices. If possible somebody please reach miiniuser123 as he can do miracles for us just like he did for other exynos based samsung devices:fingers-crossed:

Now you can run google camera with pixel 2 as model and can use hdr+ and hdr+ enhanced with great quality and better stability
Use https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/...efcomg-fix_OP6v0.3_MGC_5.1.018_FINAL_3.4A.apk
And use settings as
Model == pixel 2 or pixel 2 xl
Parameter == default ( most stable )
Select pixel 2016 zls hdr+
Hdr+ support level == selct option 1 in front camera
And select in hexagon dsp == no
....
.........
............
And boom shakaa laakkaa
Bugs: no front selfie
No potrait in rear and front
Works : hdr+ and hdr+ enhanced picture processing
Most stable than any other gcam with pixel settings
