I cant test just at the moment, but will take a look later. I usually set mine to the highest resolution 16:9 format as that is what you should see on the screen and is the more common standard.
I'm guessing the 4:3 format is the reason why it isn't quite matching for you, can you test with a 16:9 9.7 MP format?

I think it's because the OPO screen is in 16:9, but the 13M option is 4:3. So if you want to use fullscreen it will "zoom" the photo, to fill the screen. I always used the letterbox because of this.

Thanks guys...I think the MT4G camera has gotten a bad rap from Internet reviews. Yes it's not the market leader but it's not as bad as they portray it to be.
i think its HTC's best camera to date (when using 3rd party apps) the stock app compresses way too much

Ditto on being the best camera, but I haven't had too many issues with noticeable compression artifacts from the stock app. I might have to take a second pass on the pics with the bigger display at home.

Can you guys also post up if these are using stock cams, or camera 360, etc. and post up your settings. These pics you guys are putting up are stunning
camera 360 is nice. can't post my pictures yet though
I've taken a few pics of the same scene with the stock app and then Camera 360 (with max resolution/least compression), loaded them up on a computer to compare. For me, the Cam360 pics look only very slightly better than the stock app. I really can't even tell the difference in quality unless I zoom in a bit, and even then the difference seems rather slight.
Has anyone else taken photos of the exact same scene with both the stock and an alternative app to directly compare the difference?
Here are two I took in a zero light enviornment:

Anyone notice the flash has green hue at the edges? Makes night pictures terrible.
Comparing side-by-side with my soon-to-be-on-eBay Evo, Inspire's flashes have decidedly green/teal hue.
Hoping it's just my Inspire's LED flashes.

You can try or upload someplace like flickr as well (the phone has this option built into the Gallery app)
The ones I uploaded was from a computer not the phone, so Im not sure if you are able to upload in such a way via the phone however.

same here... i think the camera isn't all that good honestly. The iPhone 4's camera blows this one away
My experience is that the flash is awful with any significant ambient light
Im sure with certain advanced settings within the phone the photo quality can get better.
Also the focus can be manually changed, on my photos like I mentioned there was absolutely no light in the room.
At the end of the day if you want the best quality photos, its time to invest in a top of the line point and shoot camera.
a picture i took a few days ago. it seems like it focus' nicely but when you take a picture no matter how still you hold it you get a blurry picture.
Deadly combo indeed.

Hi everyone,
The title is pretty clear. And I want the old one back. I want to be able to take pictures during video. I want to be able to change white balance. I want to be able to change scene mode. The lens blur is absolute poo. It straight up sucks. I know the real time picture ratio isn't right on the old one, but it just looks better with the added space. Is there any way to get back my old, functional camera back? Thanks in advance for any answers.

How could you NOT know how to uninstall updates. Should give the new update a chance, I agree that the massive are at the bottom isn't ideal but once you've messed around with the settings etc I personally think its better. And I'm pretty sure you can take a PIC whilst recording by tapping on the screen, don't quote me on that though.

None of the massive area in the bottom is part of the photo anyway so how is it less than ideal? At least now we can see what the photo will look like before we take it. No more accidentally missing part of the shot cause the screen shows more picture than photo.

Guys you can also find images larger than this 2560x2880 resolution and just use it cropped. In google you have to pick images larger than 10m i think to show you only the ones with demanded both height and length. I did it on mine and worked quite well:
