I have no ROM. How install one? - HTC One S

Hi there!
I unlock the bootleader and root my device (HTC One S) to install another ROM.
I have done a full clean, so I have nothing. I installed the clockworkmod recovery.
What Can I do to install the factory rom and let my device like factory, but with the bootloader unlocked?
PD: Sorry with my english.

You can relock your bootloader, flash a RUU (stock firmware package), unlock the bootloader again. Or you can just flash a sense based custom rom. BUT if I was you, I would go for a Kitkat (Android 4.4.4) or Lollipop (5.0.2) custom rom, as it really improves your One S

Download ROM - GApps - SuperSU
copy all to your sdcard. (you can connect your phone via twrp recovery: "Mount" --> "Enable MTP"
then press "Install" and select the downloaded zips.
Order: 1. Rom 2. GApps 3. SuperSU (4. Kernel)
You can optionally use a "custom kernel" e.g. Frosted Kernel which can be controlled with Trickster Mod

Yup i forgot that your phone is S-ON. S-ON means you need to flash the kernel manually via fastboot each time you install a rom. Flash 1. 2. 3. and then connect your phone in fastboot mode to the computer.
Extract "boot.img" from the rom.zip and flash it via fastboot:
Fastboot flash boot boot.img

Once you reunlock, you may or may not still have root. Open superuser or SuperSU (whatever you have installed), go into settings, and turn it off and back on again. Then check a root app to see if you're still rooted. If all you did was relock, you should still be rooted.
If that's the case, reboot to recovery and flash away. You have the old hboot so you don't need to worry about flashing boot.imgs.
ok, if you can get back to square 1 (any rom installed, any recovery installed) and get into bootloader and recovery you will be fine. remember when flashing a rom to the One X, you must do "fastboot flash boot boot.img" from terminal before you proceed and flash from twrp (or whatever recovery you use). otherwise it will flash but not boot.
so i recommend:
1. going into your recovery and clearing EVERYTHING (cache, dalvik, data) and then get back into fastboot mode.
2. running the "fastboot flash boot boot.img" from terminal on your PC
3. exiting bootloader and getting into recovery
4. flash the rom/gapps/root zips
if this doesnt work, then let me know. i'll try my best to help you out
EDIT: sorry, just saw that you had the old hboot.... never mind about all those steps :/ i honestly dont know what you should do next, since you dont need to flash the boot.img...

ok, hope it works if you get it to work and it runs fine, make a backup in twrp so you always have a safety-blanket if something goes wrong someday

[Q] Rooting mistake

Hey guys.
I wanted to root my HTC One S, and I read that the program SuperOneClick was the fastest way of doing it, so I went ahead and connected the HTC to my PC with the USB cable and clicked "root". After like 15 minutes however the program didn't do anything, it just froze and I had to close it. Root Checker Basic said something similiar to no valid root or something. Tried to click "unroot" now so I could start again with a different method, froze again, closed SuperOneClick again. What am I supposed to do now? Is rooting it again safe as I now probably have some half / corrupted root? And can someone link me to the best method? Thanks in advance.

Did you unlock the bootloader?
Just unlocked the bootloader and flashed cwm, my own fault for using superoneclick. Thanks anyway ;p
Sorry for the double post. I may need some help as I probably bricked(?) my One S.
Didn't do anything root-related for a long time so I think I made a beginner's mistake.
What I did was unlock (htcDEV), and flash CWM recovery.
I tried installing liquid kitkat custom rom, but now it won't boot, not even in recovery.
Help?
EDIT: It's stuck in a boot loop :/

FIRST you need to know which phone / firmware you got.
Enter fastboot, connect to pc, open CMD and type "fastboot getvar all"
Copy the log and post it here please. Delete IMEI/serial before you post the log. Then i can exactly tell you what you need to install

HTC One S - S4 ville - generic dutch version
You will just need to flash the kernel contained in the rom (boot.img) via fastboot (S-ON means u need to flash kernel manually) to fix your installation
Generally I'd suggest
Flash this recovery via fastboot --> TWRP 2.7.0.8
(its compatible to the lastest CM11 versions 05/01/2014 and newer
And may be try PAC rom (I just love it)

I indeed just flashed the boot.img seperately which was in the rom, and now it works. It's a huge relief to see my phone work again, thanks a lot!!
One more thing so I avoid messing up in the future; When I decide to install another rom, do I always do a factory reset / clear cache, then flash the rom and flash the kernel via fasboot?

Looks like I was cheering too early. Roughly 1 minute after launching my phone, .comSystemGUI or something along those lines stopped working, and whenever I pressed "ok" the message would instantly return. I can't connect my phone to my PC to put another ROM on it since the message won't disappear. Also I tried re-flashing the same ROM, but now it says can't mount storage/sdcard0.
Really frustrating!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2206434
This topic guided me into getting the sdcard mountable again, but in the process I lost the rom .zip file.
And my phone won't boot anymore, it doesn't get past the HTC logo, so I can't put a new rom on it and flash it.
What is there left for me to do? Stock rom? How do I find the stock rom?
Thanks in advance.
I figured it out, thanks for your guidance LS.xD!
Basically what I did was mount the SD storage in CWM and transfer Pac-man rom onto the storage, then flash the .zip, flash Gapps and finally in bootloader fastboot the boot.img (because I'm S-ON). Maybe this will help anyone.
EDIT: Someone may wanna be careful with using TWRP, it corrupted my SD storage for a while.

SD card bug can also be caused by CWM or flashing a rom (Viper really loves to brick SD). I never had any issues with TWRP. The only SD card bug I had in over a year flashing roms to my One S was caused by flashing CWM

Or can I unlock the bootloader at this situation to install custom rom in case of unavailability of suitable ruu rom?

If your phone is locked and S-On (and never was unlocked S-off), you should think about returning for warranty.
The warranty period is already expired. Another solution?

More information about your phone model, please!
I dont think he can use an RUU. Last I checked, the available RUU's for you guys is based on ICS. Because he is S-On he can't use it since it would require downgrading. Would need to be S-Off to do that.
If there is a JB RUU for you guys then he is good to go, but I haven't seen one yet.

- unlock your bootloader at htcdev.com
- flash k2ul recovery with fastboot
- wipe everything in recovery (except internal & external sd)
- flash a stock rom from recovery (either 4.1.2 or 4.2.2)
- get S-Off: if 4.1.2 rom, then use moonshin.io or if 4.2.2 rom use rumrunner.us
- after you are S-off you get a firmware.zip from me, wich updates your phone/radio related to your modelid, so you can run the latest 4.2.2 software without bugs
You can find everything you need in my index thread, which is linked in my signature.
Good luck!

The screen lock is already None
Settings-Security-Screen lock-none
Do you have root? If not (because rom is stock), flash SuperSu.zip, linked in my index thread and don't forget to allow root permission to adb shell!

Can you get into the bootloader? If you can, you can flash TWRP recovery via fastboot and flash a custom Rom with the recovery.
Yes

Go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2292432 . Read through and find the recovery there. It is pretty well explained there. I am on my mobile so I am not sure of the link will take you to the first page. It is on the first page. Make sure you get the correct recovery for your phone model.
Original rom
Where i can get original ROM for HTC ONE SV LTE k2ul_4.2.2_3.11.401.1 ???

That I do not know, but if my memory serves me right, there was a thread either in android development or general sections with the latest OTAs. You might wanna search for that...

You've already got the link to my index thread, but it seems you are to lazy to have a look at it. You even only need to watch for the software number and you will easily find what you are searching for.
Os intallation failed
i tried to install OTA update through TWRP recovery , but it failed
You can't flash this in recovery. Use TWRP recovery and flash the rom (not the Ota). Links are in my index thread.
Installed rom
Sucessfully instaled Viper SV rom,
but still phone did not booting,
Did you also flash boot.img of the rom in fastboot?
no
I missed to boot boot.img,
Now phone is working perfectly...........
Thanks all........specially old.splatterhand & thearif
Nice

Hi all,
I'm new in this forum so I post there.
My problems starts after try to updete htc one sv k2_ul. After update I get red triangle and then my phone freezed on white screen with logo.
Try to do factory reset from bootloader, but nothing happen. After few days looking information I unlock bootloader and try flash new boot, but after that I get Tampered. I found if I must s-off, but how I can get it? My pc found phone only on fastboot mode. Any ideas?

You can't get S-off, without working OS.
You don't have an OS anymore on your phone?
Are you running a custom recovery like TWRP?
Run this fastboot cmd and copy the output here (remove your imei & serial number):
Code:
fastboot getvar all

I flashed TWRP and I make restore, but phone won't start anyway. Maybe need to flash new os?
Flash the stock rom in TWRP, and don't forget to flash boot.img of the rom in fastboot.
Links are in my index thread.
Make a backup in recovery (just in case) and a wipe (advanced -> everything except int & ext sdcard) before.

Something I make wrong. I flashed TWRP, then installed ViperSV, phone restarted and booted TWRP. Then I found boot.img in yours index thead.
Then in fastboot flashed new boot, but phone still booting in TWRP. What I make wrong?
You need to flash the boot.img thats inside the ViperSV.zip, not any from my index thread.

Problem with Custom Roms

Hi there i tested these ROMS on mine HTC One S Ville S4 (International).

I´ve followed all steps but no luck, the phone reach splash screen and all i get is all 3 lights on the bottom and a green on the top illuminated.
LIBERTY ROM - The Sixth Element 4.4.2/4.4.3
Almost the same situation with Maximus Rom but with Black splash screen this time on the 2 versions of this Rom
At the moment i have the ViperOneS 3.2.0 but i would like test other Roms.

you need a specific hboot to try the rom. i think is 2.15 and you have 1.13.. so..... i think that is the problem.
first of all you'd update all that is possible to lates ver. (hboot, recovery), may be you should try hboot 2.16 and roms for it...

You will need to update HBOOT to version 2.15 or 2.16 depending on which rom you want to install. HTC__304 is Europe/Spain so the Europe RUU should be fine for you. Its pretty easy:
Download FIRMWARE HBOOT 2.15
Extract the included recovery and flash it using fastboot:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Relock your bootloader (in case it's actually locked)
fastboot oem lock
Then flash the firmware215.zip:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip firmware215.zip
fastboot flash zip firmware215.zip (First time you probably get an error, so just retype the command!!!)
fastboot reboot-bootloader (to get back into bootloader mode)

He's S-On, are you sure it'll work like this? Flashing firmware is not possible unless you're S-Off. He should first try to achieve S-Off via rumrunner or other method (since he's already using Viper or a close-to-stock ROM). Then he might try flashing 2.15/2.16 firmware

I'm sure. Flashing "SIGNED" zips will totally work with S-ON.

You can unlock it at any time, but you will have to lock it before upgrade the firmware.

I'm glad you finally made it. HBOOT 2.16 works with S-OFF only, thats why I uploaded 2.15. As @Rapier mentioned earlier, you can use rumrunner.us for easily getting S-OFF
Mind you that hboot 2.16 gives you shared internal storage. E.g. all free space is available to all partitions. This may come tot be necessary for you if flashing lollipop roms since the "foot print" of installed aps on lollipop becomes much larger. This has to do with runtime environment... Kitkat runs with Dalvik Cache whereas Lollipop runs with the Android Runtime aka ART.
So, staying on hboot 2.15 give you the old partition layout with approx. 1 GByte(??) free for apps and 7 as internal SD.
While hboot 2.16 serves all your free internal storage to all partitions. This saves you headache of internal space for apps running out.
(Someone may deel to fill in the technical gaps i left in)
Cheers , happy hboot 2.16 user.
