I'd like to get into using NFC for payments at shops now that I have a Galaxy s5. But which is the best app to use? Google Wallet? What else is available, what would be the most widely accepted? I tried Googling for some advice but didn't find anything comprehensive. Help!

Do we have to wait for Samsung pay to come out before we are able to test out the new mobile payment on traditional magnetic card readers? I don't think Google Wallet will support it, but does anyone know if it is possible to use the app produced by LoopPay? maybe it's possible since they are the company Samsung bought to be able to put the tech in the phone.
I haven't had the chance to try it out myself, so wondered if anyone else had found a way to test it out.
With the S2 having Tap & Pay (NFC) I was trying to get it to use Android Pay, but I can't figure this out. If the S2 is waiting for Samsung Pay, my S2 will be waiting awhile because I have a Note Edge on Verizon. Anybody get this to work?
I think Verizon is sending out an OTA update for Samsung Pay support. The other issue is waiting for Samsung to send out an update to the watch itself for Samsung Pay support.

I would be very surprised if the S2 supports Android Pay. I don't think it will happen considering Samsung has its own very good payment system. I've been using Samsung Pay for over a month now and it's great. I think Samsung Pay support for the S2 will be coming sometime in November.
I tried using my S2 at Walgreens where I've often used my Nexus 5 to pay. Had nfc turned on on S2, but it didn't work. Only tried it once, so no idea if it was a glitch, or isn't supported.

It won't work until Samsung issues the firmware update.
I don't have the link, but I read that Samsung Pay is not coming until November.
Why will it not work for Android Pay? Samsung Pay is great and all, but it was made for NFC & MTC and the S2 can only do NFC. do you think the Edge or s2 will get update to where you can choose?
I wish listed the Samsung Pay app but it doesn't work with my bank or Phone! thnks Samsung!!!

Easy. Imagine you made a great payment system. And imagine a company, competing with it. You also made an awesome watch that can handle mobile payments. Now think, will you work with competitor to setup a way to send payment data over bluetooth, over your own API to the watch, or are you going to do it to your own payment system, with your own engineers?
It's pointless for them to open it up to competitor. Yes, it will make sense from consumer standpoint, but not from manufacturer. Why open up to others, while you can just swing your userbase numbers around.
Folks, I just received my new Gear S2, and was surprised to see that Samsung Pay wasn't installed, or even available yet for this device. Does anyone know when we will be seeing it here in the states?
Thanks so much in advance!
I asked samsung support. The rep on the other end kept saying the gear s2 doesnt support it.
I told him about all the marketing that was done and he played dumb.
Very dissatisfied here.

Actually the rep was kinda right. i read an article online somewhere that said samsung pay uses "mst" as well as nfc, this is the main difference to android pay but the gear s2 doesnt have mst installed. i dont know very much about these two techs im not sure if its a hardware or software installation or both perhaps but i do know samsung pay needs both to function, at least the current version does anyway. although samsung did say they would be releasing samsung pay for their wearables but didnt specify if it would be for existing models or a brand new model entirely

MST is magnetic secure transmission, it is a hardware chip that emulates the magnetic strip on a credit/debit card.
NFC is near field communications. It uses a coil in the back of your phone to transmit signal to a coil in a receiver.
NFC is used in Android Pay, Apple Pay, and Samsung Pay (when you place your phone on a terminal equipped with NFC)
MST is used only by Samsung Pay, it is what allows you to use Samsung Pay on terminals not equipped with NFC. It is a 'backup' and not necessary for Samsung Pay to work. This is why Samsung Pay is supposed to work on the gear S2 someday. It will be limited to NFC equipped terminals though.

Unless Samsung drops the ball, in 2016

Samsung has repeatedly said that the Gear S2 NFC hardware capability will be enabled via a firmware update to make it work for Samsung Pay (using NFC only, as it does not have MST hardware) some time in 2016, in some countries, for some phones. They advertise it on the Gear S2 page on their global website. Scroll down to the bottom.

This looks cool, cannot wait for Samsung Pay to be working on the gear S2!

But thats different, in Korea we already have few things for the NFC capabilities but still no Samsung Pay :|
Well, here it is September & S2 Bluetooth users have had Samsung Pay for over a month but it seems Samsung is sticking it to us 3G users for some unknown reason(since they won't say ANYTHING as to why we can't get it). At least they could explain to their customers why a key feature we expected and they STILL advertise isn't working. It might stop me from filing a complaint with my state Attorney Generals office.
I thought I saw something that it is harder to integrate it with the carriers on the 3G.

I know Samsung Pay only works with select flagship phones out of the box. I also remember reading months ago they were experimenting with opening up SP to other OEM's I believe Samsung Pay Light is what they called it. Is there anyway to get SP working? I have $20 worth of credits from my old s8. I definitely don't plan on getting a Samsung phone anytime soon. I also love Samsung Pay even if I can't use the magnetic magic that allows me to use it at places with no NFC.
I am expecting that this isn't possible but I figure I would ask.
Also I did Google and even tried to sideload the APK. It was Korean version and would not let me use it because I don't live on South Korea.
Recently I get all sorts of notifications saying Samsung wants to install Samsung Pay on my S7.
I have Android Pay and it is better.
Android Pay
More Banks in Canada and Android Watch Support.
Samsung Pay
Few banks in Canada and no Android Watch Support.
MST is not used in Canada, I am not sure but I believe Samsung Pay also does handle near field technology like Android Pay ? Am I correct ? ... So this should nor really be an issue.
I think I found a way to stop the notifications but I can not root and get rid of Samsung Bloat all together because the phone is company owned and also Android Pay will not work with rooted devices.
What gives Samsung the right to force Bloat like Samsung Pay if you will never use it ?
I think I know the answers to my questions ? Am I correct ?
Samsung Pay has everything, Android Pay has but in addition has MST. If I can find banks that support Samsung Pay and live without tapping with my Smart Watch ..... Samsung Pay maybe better.
Samsung is able to force bloat on you because they sell millions more phones than anybody else and people keep on buying.

You bought a Samsung phone, that's what gives them the right, read the smallprint
To fix it without root, use a package disabler (Package Disabler Pro)
