Galaxy S6 Edge Forum? - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Will there be a separate forum for the Galaxy S6 Edge?

Unnecessary, it seems. The edges reportedly serve cosmetic purposes.

You may be right but that wasn't the case for the note edge and the note 4. Both were separate software due to the icons on the edge. I know there was a separate forum for the note edge for developers. I would just assume that there would be a forum made for the S6 edge just in case the edge display have icons and not just a stretched display.

Oh, I am sure there will be a separate forum if the edges actually have on-screen utility like the Note Edge. I just do not think that will be the case. Especially when both sides have curves. Having taskbars on the edges of 5" phone wouldn't be Sixy. (sorry I couldn't resist)

I wonder if the edge version will have lesser roms/ kernels.

Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge clear cover the same?

Hi,
Is the samsung clear cover the same for the s6 and s6 edge?
They seem exactly the same but would like some clarification on this.
Thanks
I dont think so, the one for the edge has different shaped edge where as the one for the normal s6 doesnt have the same angled edge part.
There are different cover but the same size.
Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge Cover
I think , Both are little different in size...

Making full use of Note Edge Screen

One thing that would be nice is to take full advantage of the wider screen on the Note Edge. You can see this
when using the latest TWRP or when on the lock screen. However, when you go to home screen it is narrower with it
residing on just the flat part of the screen. So, is it possible to have your home screen and running apps take up
the entirety of the Note edge screen. Flat part plus the curved edge. I've gotten so used to the edge's curve
that it would not bother me if part of the home screen is on the curved part. Indeed, I really like having a
wider area to work with. I remember the original Note as being wider then Note 2,3 and 4. Going the narrow route
to acheive the 16 to 9 aspect ratio was disappointing. So basically it would be nice to have the full Edge screen
for your home screen and apps. You could then swipe left on the right edge to pull up the Edge related apps.

Concerns about the edge screen

Thinking about picking up the S7 but coming from a note 3 I can't imagine going down to a 5.1 inch screen. I'm hesitant to buy the edge version because I feel like the phone cannot be protected nearly as well as other phones. I take great care of my phones and they all stay in otterbox defenders but they don't make defender cases for the edge. Basically all that glass exposed on the side is scary to me. Looking for other folks opinions and thoughts.

Not concerned my friend has the edge s6 and he always breaks his screens doesn't use a protector or case and his screen is emaculate. Will put a protector on and a case so think ikk be OK
Just use a standard film protector, cheap and they apply well if you take your time.
There is a major difference with the "edge" phones and regular flat plane, and that's the touch response is muted on edge phones. You have to intentionally press, whereas on a flat screen like the s6, you can touch with feather light presses. I know somebody has experienced this too, and it's not just me.... I guess if anyone else has had this too they can let me know and hit the thanks button...
I've honestly never had any major touch responsiveness issues with the edge. And I've owned the s6 edge and edge plus. You just have to make sure you aren't tapping the bezel area.
Thanks for the responses. I'm mostly concerned about side impacts. If my current N3 took a hit too the side it's protected. I know there are threads on this but can you guys suggest S6 cases that work well to calm my nerves haha
Surely a reputable case company that has an s6 will also offer one for the s7

is the S7 the same shape as S7 edge just flipped on its back?

I dont have the two to compare but it seems like the curved glass back of the S7 is the same shape as the front screen of the edge so if you were to close your eyes and hold it with the back facing up or would feel just like a smaller S7 edge. it's a cool design Easter egg of sorts if it's true.

Edge hardware on non edge screen/frame

So, my girlfriend is getting a new phone. her previous phone was an S7 EDGE, but screen and body are pretty banged up, so I'm thinking about getting replacements and just use it until it gives out.
with that said, I've never been a fan of the edge thing - sure it is pretty and nice to use, but screen protectors for it are both expensive and useless, and also is very difficult to find a heavy duty case that has those laterals extending beyond the screen for extra protection for the edge.
so it begs the question: can I get a screen/body replacement of a S7 NON EDGE and put the hardware of the S7 EDGE inside it?
