[Q] Is there any true Silent Mode enabling app for Lollipop? - Android Apps and Games

As the title says.
I am tired of finding an app which will bring back the Silent mode in Lollipop, nothing works, including the one which was released earlier today claiming about bringing Silent mode back, SoundHUD, it does not work on my Note 3.
So I am asking this here, in case there is an app and I don't know it.
Again, I have a Galaxy Note 3, so if there's an app which works on a Nexus or those type of devices doesn't mean it will work on mine.

I 2nd this. I want a solution for this as well. App/Script/Hack/Mod.....whatever.

Yeah, I know. It's kinda weird that there's no app or mod for this so far, L is released pretty much for over a month now!

Hit the volume button, then none? It will put the phone in interruption mode and silent. You can even choose when it will go back to sound mode in case you forget to change it back.

Check this article http://www.androidauthority.com/soundhud-lollipop-silent-mode-589336/ Haven't tried it I'm on KK so don't ask, i just remembered i saw it and thought it might do the trick for you.

Apparently, Samsung agrees with us here! The new Sound/Notification/Interruption features suck ballz. They will be fixed immediately in an incoming update rolling around the world.

First of all that will disable all sorts of notifications, I mean the display won't pop up, there will be no LED and most importantly the Alarm sound will be silent too, LOL.
Google is a genius.

Yeah, thanks for mentioning that, but you might have missed my original post. In case any one else gets excited about that app, well let me tell you, it does absolutely nothing. The dev should bugger off honestly.

haha gotta get the attention. I'm sure someone has run into this issue here.
I'd really like to have a way to have the phone vibrate first and then ring affter Xsec. and then if you missed it have it vibrate(remind you) till you acknowledge the call/txt/email.
I'd like this feature as well.
Well figured out the Smart vibrate app problem. I had the older one labled 1.5+ where the one without that in the market is the latest evidently.
Still would like the feature or app built in that can have a way to have the phone vibrate first and then ring affter Xsec. and then if you missed it have it vibrate(remind you) till you acknowledge the call/txt/email.

[Q] Turn off the email sound while on the phone...how?

Anyone knows how to turn off the email notification sound while on the phone on Nexus S. It's extremly annoying and and the other person can hear it as clear as I can? This is the most basic thing and I never had this problem in last 15 years. Thanks...
goto menu->settings then scroll to notification settings
select ringtone->silent
done
All that'll do is switch notification sound to silent at all times. I just want notifications switched to silent when on the phone not at all times.
Thanks for your answer though
Never heard of this issue and sounds very dumb if an alert plays during a phone call. I can't believe it would.

Well, they do! LOL. I noticed it last night while in a call.
Edit: test it yourself. Give yourself a call from another phone, then send yourself an email.

This absolutely should be user configurable within the OS, but it doesn't appear to be.
There's an app called Tasker with a free 7-day trial version that would allow you to setup a work-around.
Tell Tasker that when you're in a call, to turn off notification sounds, and to turn them back on when you end the call.
I'm just now testing the app myself, and it's amazingly powerful in its potential.
edit: On an admin note to the mods...this thread is an example of why even some of we seasoned forum members get confused over where a thread should go. It's clearly a question, seeking a specific answer to solve a problem, and it hasn't been moved to the Q&A section, yet posts that are more general in nature intended to spark discussion are moved to Q&A just because they have a "?" mark in the title or first sentence...
but this is clearly a nexus s specific issue, correct? i'm just trying to think, no other android phone does this that i can tell. certainly my nexus one does not, and i have 4 active simultaneous emails accounts going all day for the last year, exchange account and all. but isnt this something the OS would handle and be common across all devices?
unless its a gingerbread thing...

It appears to be a gingerbread thing.
I just tested it on my SGS with Doc's ROM. No sound heard by either myself or the other party on both email and SMS receipts.
Bug #103 in Gingerbread...?
Is there a website where one can submit bugs like this one so that it can be addressed in the next update? Sounds like an easy fix

Yes, you can go here, but honestly, don't expect quick results. The Google Help forums seem to get more attention, or at least feedback, from real live Google employees.
Thanks distortedloop! I just went to the website and it looks like someone already submitted the bug. Hope it gets fixed soon. Thanks again.

Same thing happens on my Captivate since I've been playing with Froyo Roms. It's kind of annoying since I use loud, high pitched ringtones because I work on loud environment.

Ever wanted to know who has tried snooping into your phone while you were away. Your friends or family member might have tried to unlock your phone while you are away. HiddenEye is a simple app with no frills that will photograph the person when they try to unlock your phone. You can set it to sound alarm when a user tries to unlock your phone without your knowledge.
Now you can see who is trying to use your phone while you are away. Once you unlock your phone, you will be shown the photographs of the people who tried unlocking your phone in your absence. Sounds interesting ! Try it and let us know if you have any suggestion to improve it further.
Worried that your phone does not have front camera. With HiddenEye, now you can know the someone has tried to snoop into your phone. You can also set alarm if someone is trying to unlock your phone with wrong password. If you have a front camera, then you can see who tried unlocking your phone.

Ha ha! I love your app! I don't really have a use for it for the time being because I don't really give an F who looks at my phone, but who knows? Maybe I'll be curious at some point or want to prove a point to the snoop-a-loops out there.

Glad that you liked my work.. Yes, this will come in handy when you want prove someone that they did tried snooping in Appreciate if you can leave your rating and comments on Google Play.. thanks
Neat app but im never away from my device....were connected at the hip
Nice!
One small beef though. If someone does get the password right eventually, then they see the app first thing -- even with it unchecked.
Kind of eliminates the point. Easy fix for you, I'm sure.

Any device restrictions? Besides the obvious without front facing cameras...
Yep, that's better.
Thanks!
Also, I have an idea. Any way to have it so it takes a pic anytime someone unlocks it? Even with no password and just the swipe unlock? With an on/off switch.
Reason being -- I don't use a password or lock on my screen, but I do want to know when someone goes into it. So let's say I leave my phone on the charger while taking a nap --- I turn it on before I snooze, then check it out upon wake - turning it off after I'm done reviewing.

No device restrictions. For devices without front camera, you can still use the app and get to know someone has used your phone will your are away. You cannot see their real pictures. You can also set notification and alarm on consecutive failed password attempts..

[APP][2.2+] Awake/Sleep Volume Adjuster

When your phone is in your pocket, full volume notifications are necessary if you don't want to miss a message. But when you already have your phone out and unlocked, there's no need for them to be loud and annoying, especially if you're already using the app they originate from (e.g. message apps).
Awake/Sleep Volume Adjuster lets you set custom notification volume levels for when your phone is asleep and when it's awake.
This is my first app, so I apologize for any issues it may have, but I hope people will find it useful. Either way, it's been nice to have just for myself!
Nice idea, but ram hungry!

Aw, is it really? Bummer. For me it was on par with my other background-type helper apps I use regularly. What device/version have you tried it on?
Very useful app. Thank you!
Does this effect battery life at all? This is a great idea for an application. I hate when I almost crap my pants from a notification being too loud! I hope this app does well and has many more updates in the future.

I have an HTC Evo Design 4G which has atrocious battery life (carry around a spare in my wallet) and haven't noticed any decrease. I regularly check the battery use because I have to watch for things eating it up and it hasn't shown up yet!

I've got a problem, when someone calls me, and my phone isn't in my pocket, but I'm not using it either, the screen turns on, so the phone goes vibrate mode, I don't know if can be fixed. Great app btw.

Two OS features are missing in S6!!

I have the phone for two days now, but I noticed that unlike GS4 and GS5, GS6 is missing these two important features!
there is no "answer vibration" feature , so if someone answer my call I can't let the device vibrate!
you can't put a "direct call" icon in the desktop! now you can put contact icon, then after clicking it will take you to the contact page for that person!
Anyone, is this the case with you? anyone know how to solve it?!
Go into the dialer settings and under call alerts you'll find what you're looking for.

Don't think it's Samsung. Looks like Google removed the shortcuts for the direct call, email, sms, etc... In lollipop from what I can find. I been searching and not much info on the web about this, guess me and you the few that used that feature.

it might be, but I used Lollipop in my GS5 and the feature was there!
I am most annoyed about the vibration thing! I even flashed a German ROM in my mobile but the vibrate on answer feature didn't show up! :crying:
Don't think it's the Os it's the phone model ID and product ID , if it's that important change it to a us variant, might not boot though

Direct call is different from a shortcut. With direct call you click the icon and it calls the assigned person. With the shortcut as in the screen you posted, it takes you to the contacts page, where you then call text etc...
Thanks though

Thank you for your answer, this feature is important to me. I tired to install the T-Mobil US ROM. but it failed with Odin! I guess because my phone is G920F. and the T-Mobil pone is G920I.
For the second point, I agree with tenxo. Galaxy phones used to have direct calls.

This ROM is what you're looking for: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...-xtrestolite-pure-edition-1-0-beta-1-t3082467
Now I can't tell you if this ROM will work on your phone, but it has the option to turn on Vibrate on Call. This ROM is also a "LITE" rom, so it de-bloats alot of things. So read carefully, and ask questions BEFORE you flash.

I don't use the ROM (I haven't rooted yet--waiting/hoping of a way to root without tripping KNOX), but I wanted to read about it and that Vibrate on Calls caught my eye because I remember someone asking about that feature. So I came back here to tell you about it. I'm T-Mobile US, so I already have that feature OTB. Weird some don't have that simple feature. Odd. But you're welcome, and good luck!
