Safestrap

So I am aware of this post:
:good: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1847599 :good:
But I still have a few questions:
1. Is Safestrap available for the Razr Maxx HD? And where can I download it?
2. Would I follow the same instructions in the above post to install it on my device?
3. (Noob alert) does this affect warranty at all?
A little off topic:
1. Is it possible to unlock the bootloader on a NON-developer edition razr hd?

You can find a safestrap with instructions for the Razr HD models here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1979018
As with all mods, safestrap probably voids your warranty, however, if you flash back to stock with the Razr HD utility, it resets the rooted flag so unless you manage to brick the device, it's probably impossible to determine if it has been modified at that point. You can find the utility here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1970267
At this point, you still can't unlock the bootloader on non-dev phones.

This statement is not true. search the internet.
0/0 means phone was never rooted
0/1 means not currently rooted, but was at one point
1/1 means currently rooted
The first flag changes from 1 back to 0 if you restore, however once you have rooted once the second flag will always be 1, even if you unroot.
^^ this is correct.
But OP the safestrap apk for HD will work fine with the Maxx.

rooting droid developers edition?

I have the droid maxx developers edition with an unlocked boot loader. I have read that with an unlocked boot loader the new droids are easy to root but haven't seen and methods. I'm really new at this but can follow directions. Like after soft bricking my maxx trying to upgrade to 4.4 I restored to 4.2.2 using ADB Telnet ETC. I am now on 4.4 and would like to root can anyone send me in the right direction. The boot loader is unlocked.
Also a site, page, glossery of terms like Side Loading ETC. That would be very helpful.

[Q] Unlock Bootloader Razr Maxx HD

Okay, so I got my Dad's Razr Maxx HD rooted. He is running the latest OTA but it rooted. I want to install a custom rom, but I'm not sure how to unlock the bootloader on this phone. I know everywhere it says not possible, but they also said no rooting. Is this possible?
Thanks!
Try this

its the unlock bootloader exploit. if you have VZ and updated to JB, you may not be able to unlock bootloader.

You will lose root, unless you are bootloader unlocked then you can flash su easily. No idea about Pageplus service, depends how you enabled it originally..
So is it possible to unlock my bootloader then take the ota update.

You can't unlock your bootloader unless you have a dev device or XT925..if you don't have either of these then you'll have to wait until there is a method to keep root (if it's possible).

Not entirely true. It you are on an XT926 non-dev device, you could still unlock the bootloader IF you haven't upgraded to any OTAs after version 9.16.6. If you've updated it via an OTA since that version, then no, you cannot unlock your bootloader. And downgrading back to 9.16.6 will not fix it. Once the OTA is applied, the exploit to unlock an XT926 is gone forever. It was the one and only chance of unlocking the phone. No other options exist unless Verizon allows it to be unlocked via the Motorola unlocker program, which I highly doubt will occur.
If you are still on 9.16.9 or earlier, then you can go here and try to unlock your bootloader -> http://vulnfactory.org/blog/2013/04/08/motorola-bootloader-unlocking/
You must be rooted in order to do this.
If you are on any of these versions, then you can no longer unlock your bootloader:
9.18.X
9.20.1
9.30.1
183.46.10 (KitKat)
Trying won't hurt anything. Worse comes to worse, you'll still have a locked bootloader. Best case scenario, you'll have an unlocked bootloader!
We've already had one success story since the OTA with a user who was able to unlock his bootloader, so you might be the same as long as you are on the version stated or earlier. He was and luckily, no later OTAs were applied, so he's now unlocked.

[Q] Flashing a backup of my old XT926 onto a new one

My old Razr HD has been broken for a couple months so I recently ordered a new one. Now I've heard that there's been a KitKat update for the phone as well as a new bootloader unlock method as well. Can someone tell me if I'll run into problems flashing a backup of my old phone, that was running a 4.4.2 rom since before the 4.1.2 bootloader patch , onto my new phone, which will have stock 4.4 kitkat with unlocked bootloader.

some confusion needs to be cleared up before i can answer that (im easily confused )
you unlocked on the original exploit and were running a custom rom?
assuming yes, what was the highest stock software you ever put on the phone?
assuming JB, you would only be able to restore the nandroid if the new phone was unlocked on jb.
assuming KK, you would be able to restore the nandroid directly to the new unlocked kk phone.
if i need to assume some more reply, and i would be happy to help.

Yes I unlocked on the original method and ultimately ended up flashing a KK rom. So I guess I can flash my backup without problem on my new phone then once I unlock it. Also, is the new unlock method as easy as installing two apps as I read? Is there an updated Razr HD Utility/ Droid Toolbox I can use, I think I saw someone mention them but I couldn't find updated versions.
EDIT: I found the updated Razr HD Utility but I'll probably just use your guide instead. Thanks for the help!
