Ingredients of a Hacked Phone
There's nothing really special what are the needed hacks/modifications
in order to have a really cool hacked Android device/phone but here it is:
Custom recovery to flash the needed components/hacks for your phone.
Needs to be rooted to take full control of your Android device.
Nice customizable custom ROM flashed into your device instead of a bloated boring stock one.
Disclaimer/Precautionary Measures
Disclaimer: I, the author of this thread does take full responsibility of your phone's damages and modifying that is important to the phone (eg. rooting) will tamper your phone's warranty which means you will blame yourself for what you've done on your device because of the beyond coverages that the warranty will not take advantage of. Plus, take the risk of it if you are willing to modify your device.
Precautionary Measures: Before making a modifications to your device, make sure to do following:
Backup first your files especially the internal storage to ensure that the files are safe.
Check first your device if there are no problems
That's all!

Welcome to galaxy 3 -- Read me first/ FAQ/ New User Guide/ General Help

GALAXY 3 (I5800/I5801) FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTION, TROUBLESHOOTING, GENERAL HELP !!!
IF YOU ARE NEW TO XDA AND/OR TO THE DEVICE, OR NEED A GOOD PLACE TO START OFF WITH, OR WANT TO KNOW ABOUT SOME REALLY BASIC STUFF RELATED TO THE DEVICE, YOU MUST READ THE FOLLOWING POST(S). OTHERWISE, ASKING FOR HELP IN THE DEVELOPMENT AND OTHER SUB-FORA, WILL ONLY MAKE PEOPLE LAUGH AT YOU. MUST READ ON !!!
So, recently there has really been lots of mess created over the XDA forums due to careless behaviour of some newbies and disregarding of the rules and guidelines by many. So, as a part of the initaitive by the moderators, and contributors, this thread is being published.
FIRST THING FIRST, THIS IS ONLY FOR GALAXY 3 (NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH GALAXY S3)!!
ANY OF THE STEPS FROM THE LINKED GUIDES/FORA, IF NOT FOLLOWED CORRECTLY MAY HARM/DAMAGE YOUR DEVICE, FOR WHICH THE XDA/DEVS/MEMBERS ARE NOT RESBONSIBLE IN ANY WAY.

4th post -- Important Links
Guidelines
Some general guidelines (not rulles!) to follow -
1. Dont post in the wrong forum. Any development thread goes to development section. Any stuff related to themes, apps, games, shares general mods etc, go to themes and apps section. Any query, obviously, shall go to q&a section. Rest go to general.
2. Searching is key to a happy life on XDA . Never post without searching. If you are sure that what you want is not there on WHOLE of XDA, then post it.
3. Refrain from making posts like "thank you dev/ great work man/ thank you/ good luck/ best wishes" in development threads. Keep the development threads as clean as possible.
4. Questions will not be entertained in the development thread.
5. ETA (Estimated time of arrival) will not be entertained in any development thread. Asking again and again will not make it better, but may make it worse.
6. If you post in threads without following the above guidelines, you are actually putting yourself and others in trouble.
7. Use the
Thanks button to thank the dev/member, dont write it as a post.
SOME BASIC STUFF RELATED TO GALAXY 3, WORTH KNOWING BEFORE DOING ANYTHING TO YOUR PHONE !!
ROOTING -
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DEFINITION - Android rooting is the process of allowing users of smartphones, tablets, and other devices running the Android mobile operating system to attain privileged control (known as "root access") within Android's subsystem.
As Android was derived from the Linux kernel, rooting an Android device is similar in practice to accessing administrative permissions on Linux or any other Unix-like operating system such as FreeBSD or OSX.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PROCESS - Android 2.1 (Eclair) - Use the app Z4Root from market
Android 2.2 (Froyo) - Link
Android 2.3/4.0/4.1/++ (Gingerbread/Ice cream sandwich/Jelly Bean) - No need, if you are on one of these, you are already rooted.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
BUT WHY TO ROOT ?? - Link
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FLASHING -
1. STOCK ROMS can only be flashed via ODIN. For a guide on how to use ODING, head HERE
LINK : TO GUIDE ON HOW TO USE ODIN FOR FLASHING STOCK/CUSTOM ROMS/KERNELS !
2. CUSTOM ROMS can be flashed either via ODIN or via CWM Recovery (Once you have it - see 2nd post) depending on the type of the file provided by the dev. .tar files need ODIN. update.zip files can be flashed via CWM.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
STOCK AND CUSTOM ROMS -
For any stock ROM (2.1/2.2) go to LINK
For a comprehensive list of all available custom ROMs and Kernels head here.

Yes, I am a newbie here at XDA. I'm sorry for any misleading information that I have given you. Comments and suggestions are welcome.
The deodexed roms for LTE and 3g are not P5210. They are P5220 and P5200 respectively. Since this is a SGT3 10.1 thread, you might want to either preface that information or remove it. Just so someone does not by accident try and load those onto the P5210. Not sure what will happen if they do.

That is because it was not rooted. You can go to this site and download Root.Zip. Then you will flash root.zip and your device will be rooted and it will have SuperUser or SuperSU, I don't remember which.

[kernel mod] [stock kk] [zte blade l2] [mt6582m] (16/11/2014)

This thread is for developing of the ZTE Blade L2 kernel for Kitkat.
This is only the beginning. I'm not very comfortable yet with this part of development. Any suggestions or help is welcome.
Notes:
*Only tested in Stock Based Rom
Features
-Memory Swap. (SD Card is now recognized as Internal storage) ->Screenshot
(HOW I DID IT: Remember, the mod on the fstab files in jelly bean in order to swap memory? those files are now in the packed in the kernel boot.img file. What I did was unpack the kernel and mod the fstab files in it, then I repacked it back again)
How to flash:
-Flash it in the recovery. No wipes needed
Download
A special thanks to:
*bgcngm (for packing the scripts to unpack the kernel) ->http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1587411
Disclaimer
*** As always - Flash on our own risk! ***
Make sure you flash it correctly!
I can and will not take any responsibility for bricked phones or lost data.
It is generally recommended to run a complete Nandroid backup in CWM recovery and safely store your personal data before you flash a new kernel.
Enjoy, and don't forget to thanks

I no longer work on the research of this phone, so if anyone gives a had to the ursers would be nice. Thanks
Hi
Title is misleading
This is just a ramdisk with storage changes ...
As seen in several other MTK's.
Makes no sense your Github link, there's no source on this.
WARIING: DO NOT MIRROR THIS KERNEL. DO NOT USE THIS KERNEL IN YOUR ROMS WITHOUT MY CONSENT. IF THIS IS NOT RESPECTED I WILL NOT SHARE ANYMORE DEVELOPMENT ON THE ZTE BLADE L2

And makes no sense your disclaimer, there's no development here ...

You are right... you know when people are still noob but they think they discovered the world? yep, that's me....... I was trying to get more info about kernel related stuffs, then I realise this doesn't make sense, but i still didn't had the will of reformulate the thread..... lol...sorry about that mate. Anyway I say what I did and I say that it's only a modification to the original kernel..... and i "teached" other users to do the same thing...so yeah...that thing about the work being mine, it's kinda bull****.

Where do I learn about rooting on these forums?

PROBLEM:
1. I need to find a forum where I can learn about rooting in a general way, not just a phone specific way. There are too many overlapping problems with my phone and issues that I am too undereducated to pinpoint. I thought learning how to root and flash stock-roms might be the best place to start. Book references or YouTube channels would also be wonderful.
2. I would also like to be pointed in the direction of what the problem might actually be if I am out in left field, and where to find that on this site as well.
HERE'S SOME OF WHAT I WANT TO LEARN IN THE FORUMS:
What is the difference between Rooting and Unlocking the Bootloader? Are they the same thing?
Will re-locking the bootloader resolve the certification issue like I read?
How do I lock the bootloader again?
Can you fix UI crashes by re-flashing a phone's stock ROM?
How is a Factory reset different from a fresh stock-rom flash?
If factory reset doesn't stop the UI Crashes, will re-flashing the stock rom have a different effect?
Etc.
DETAILS:
I purchased a Razer 2 Phone and unlocked the bootloader but it was a long time ago and I don't remember what I did. I did some research and it looks like when I did that my Google Play Store lost its certification. I think that it is causing app bugs and failures but I am not sure because the phone's UI sytem, bluetooth and Wi-fi have been crashing before I tampered with anything when I first bought the phone online. Bluetooth and Wi-fi don't stay on and toggle themselves off. There is also no Bluetooth or Wi-Fi address in the system info. It makes me think that my Door Dash app bugs might be more than one thing.
I work for Door Dash and it's my main income so I need my app to work and I think that the bad certification is causing problems with my Door Dash App. But the Razer also needs a software repair.

Welcome to XDA,
I would recommend this>
1. Type your desired device for rooting
2. Hit search
3. Once located your device, head to Upgrading and Modifying sub section
4. Be prepared to read a loooot!
5. Practice in your device (try not to brick it)
6. Done!
For this questions there is no general rule you can apply, it will always depend on the device you try to root

Simple answer would be no, no one but yourself. Coding a custom recovery require for the dev to have the device in question. Second part of the problem is the incentive. Coding a compatible twrp recovery takes time. What is it for the potential developer? Pay someone to help you and you will get results.

True, true, but I am lost with where to start with this ereader. I would probably have to start with linage OS or asop to figure it out, and perhaps brick the ereader a few times

1. You can't just randomly flash lineage os. You need a lineage os image build specifically for your device. Flashing anything else will brick it.

Now those threads are quite old. I suggest you read through everything and try to download whatever you can. Most links will be dead, so don't just jump in flashing stuff from the first post.

I'm quite sure after research, I happen to have the OG kobo arc
Which by far is interesting
I don't do much with Kobo.
On a regular Android I usually just start with the stock recovery and add a rooted ADB.
That gives me all that I need. I can manually install updates.
