Hi,
I got this phone already with Lollipop and I noticed annoying behavour. After some time of usage, when I unlock the phone all the homescreen icons and weather widget refresh for a scond.. That happens all the time. If J close all the apps via taskmanger then its ok for a while and then happens all over again. Anyone else noticed the same behavior? Looks like lollipop mem usgae problem... ?

Don't worry this is completely normal ..... It is software issue as the LG doesn't lock its launcher app into memory .... so when you exit out of an app (especially graphic/memory intensive) the launcher reloads itself into memory hence widgets and app icon flickers/refresh .... if you use smart notice widget i suggest to remove it from home screen as it uses memory ..... third party launchers such as Nova or even Google now launcher have memory locking feature ..... i hope some day LG clear this issues as new LG (G3) UI is currently the best UI in mobile space (my opinion)

This was a very big problem on the LG G3 however I have no such problem on my G Pro 2 running Lollipop. I assumed it was a lack of ram issue as my G3 only had 2gb and my G Pro 2 has 3 so I am very surprised to hear that you are having this issue.
Thanks for the replys guys. If this is software issue (looks like it is) am very disappointed by LG. And about removing widget, it really not the point since this phone has fast CPU and 3gb RAM and it can deffinately handle it...

So i have a Samsung Galaxy S3 with Paranoid Android 3.1 (March 1st build) and I also have Nova Launcher!
My home button used to always take me to the home screen! or main page! but randomly it keeps just opening recent apps! No matter what i do it just keeps opening recent apps i even went into nova launcher and assigned home to go to the home screen and still doesnt work! Any help or ideas!?
*EDIT
I just reset my phone and i think the problem seems to be Widget Locker which i used to replace my lockscreen, not 100% sure but it seems to be a bit buggy on 4.2 devices... it could even be some setting in it not 100% any help because this might happen again!?

That happened to me before even on CM10.1; I believe the feedback is sometimes unresponsively accurate.
But if you use Nova Launcher, you can manually take off "recent apps" and replace with "home". But, sometimes it thinks your quick press is a hold, haha. I just know reboot will quickly fix it... for now.

What kernal are you running? I've had this issue as well and have wondered if it's kernal related. The only thing I could do to remedy the problem was reboot the phone.

Rebooting the phone seems to always fix it, I was running the included kernel along with Nova launcher and would run into it after about a half day runtime
This issue is a little hard to explain in greater detail than the title states. Happens quite a lot lately when closing an app. Basically after exiting to the homescreen via the home button I'm faced with a second or so of a black screen then the wallpaper and app icons just pop onscreen. Very annoying. Does anyone here know why this may be happening or what possibly might be causing it? I'm rooted pretty much stock with the Franco Kernel and xposed and only a few xposed modules.

Can you post a screen recording?
Stock home-launcher? Or custom one? If so it might be custom home launcher issue,or maybe xposed module issue.
Is it a launcher redraw, like what happens when the phone is out of memory? Or is what you described something else?

It's actually Nova Launcher. Do you think a launcher can cause something along the lines I (tried to) described?

I guess that sounds about right. Just now went in to Nova's advanced menu and an option was there for aggressive desktop which did mention about redraws and such. I checked it so I'll have to play around a bit to see if it'll make a difference. Thanks for mentioning it.
I've seen the same thing after playing a game on stock. Think it is the aggressive memory management in 4.4

I noticed that when my phone drops down to critical i.e. 10% battery, the widgets on my home screens stop updating. Perhaps this is by design in an effort to save battery, but my problem is that even after I fully charge my phone the widgets remain frozen. I'm not running any special widgets, just a basic clock, calendar, a few toggles and battery monitor, but they all freeze just the same . . . I end up having to reboot my phone in order to get the widgets working again, which can be a pain and seems completely unnecessary.
Does anybody else have this kind of trouble? Could my completely stock/non-rooted device be experiencing issues? This is the only problem I've noticed so far with my S5 - everything else works exactly as it should.
Just a quick update: I did a factory reset and that didn't make any difference - two days later and all my home screen widgets freeze and don't start updating until I reboot the phone. List of widgets I'm using:
Fancy Widget
Switch Pro
Android Pro Widgets
BattStatt Pro
These are all widgets I've used for years without any issue, which makes me think that it involves KitKat.
Any suggestions?
I use fancy widget but haven't experienced any problems with it. Have u checked the refresh rate setting? When I put it on this phone and set it back up the refresh rate was set to refresh like every 6 hours

Thanks for the reply - no that is not it, because it affects all of my widgets and not just fancy widgets. Something odd I've noticed is that even after fancy widgets and the rest all freeze, the stock 'weather' widget still works! I've been reading a lot trying to get to the bottom of this issue, and someone on another forum mentioned the following:
"this issue occurs because kitkat has changed the way it manages background alarms. most widgets that update frequently use "alarmmanager" to trigger each update. but in kitkat, the trigger event is intentionally delayed so that android can group processes together, saving battery life and data use. so, for all those clock and weather widgets, the developers have to write a bunch of new code for kitkat devices, so that their widgets update at the intended time."
After reading this, I decided to test a theory and set my alarm to go off 2 minutes later. The alarm went off, and sure enough I checked 5 minutes later and all widgets were frozen . . . So now I'm wondering if it has something to do with the 'Timely alarm clock' app that I'm using... Going to go back to stock Alarm clock and see if that makes a difference.
Just an update for anyone interested: I found other XDA users on Verizon that were having this same issue, and someone suggested that we try installing Nova launcher. Sure enough, after installing Nova two weeks ago and I haven't had one issue with my homescreen widgets freezing.
I highly recommend Nova, especially if you're experiencing some odd quirks with TW.

Anyone else has had lag problems ?
I don't know if It's just my phone, but for me it's unbearable, Sometimes I have to wait 10 or more seconds until the phone loads all the icons (in the main screen) .
Sometimes I tried to write a whatsapp and I've to wait again some seconds until the keyboard appears. (Even when you start to write doesn't respond, and some seconds after write all the letters the same time).
or if I try to open any app. it's the same .. I've to wait some seconds while the phone is completely frozen.
it could happens in any moment. but it's very strange because the 65% of the time the phone works fine.
I try that don't install heavy app and I don't use the phone to play any game.
I tried to change the settings (Power saving) but in any option this improves.
Anybody has any idea about what could be happening ?
I'm trying to wait until new update and I'm hoping that this improves the performance ... but I'm thinking seriously to sell the phone

the mate 7 is laggy (it's actually a software problem , not hardware, but huawei is not capable of fixing it)
for your particular problem, 10 seconds seems like a lot.
you could try toubleshooting by uninstalling apps.
but the only way to be sure is by doing a factory reset

Yes, I tried to uninstall a lot of apps, For example Facebook (Now I'm using little Facebook), and even I changed the keyboard for the default.
I don't have too much apps installed, some radios, some photo editor ... .
If I restart the phone works fine all the day, but in some hours the phone gets laggy again ...
It's a shame because I like a lot this phone, but I'm thinking to change it !
I don't know what to do because I don't know other similar phone, this is perfect for me .
My mate 7 isn't laggy at all...It's same as note 3 that I have had.
I have L09 never had any lag, everything loads fast, with 0.5 animation speed phone this phone fly.I have it for 1 year and 2 months , not a new user

I think the upcoming marshmallow update will reborn this device again and solve the lag problems.
Until then I really recommend changing to the Google now launcher. It makes a very big difference indeed. I have tried most launchers but I have recently concluded that Google now launcher is best. Set fastest animation speed in developer options as well.
You set Google launcher as default launcher under manage apps under default apps

I don't know if I'll have enough patience to wait until next version.
If I see a good offer before I think that I won't doubt.

Mate7 L09 331 b lollipop root with twrp no bloatware, Nova launcher prime and changes of governor an inteligent mode ondemand... and normal mode with performance governor my Mate is a super rocket!!
El meu anglés es desastrós jajaja
Quelcom m'ho dius per missatge privat... serà millor!!
Finally, I lost my patience besides when I saw this offer.
I hope to receive my new phone and forget this forever.
It's a shame because it has a good hardware, good battery and screen.
I know op may not be interested anymore but if you use twrp to fix permissions this boosts your phones speed a great amount

Can you explain this in more detail?
Best regards!
Yes, can anyone explain this? I had a look and saw the option there. Doing a TWRP backup so I can test it, although on B331 the phone runs nice anyway.
The problem with performance on Kitkat seems mostly to do with the Kernel and how the two processors are controlled.
Edit:
Did some Googling, DO NOT use TWRP to "fix permissions" as it doesn't necessarily fix them, it can brick your OS!
It will brick your phone if you fix selinux permissions but as long as you don't check that you'll be fine
I fix the permissions everytime I restore a back up and I have done boot comparisons and there's a difference
If you do wanna try it you have to go into twrp recovery->advanced->fix permissions make sure selinux is unchecked (it should be by default)
And proceed to fix permissions
I know that it doesn't have relation but since I left to use hangouts the phones started to work better without any kind of lag...

Hi guys,
So I installed Nova Launcher, my to go launcher.
However, what I noticed is that if I disable Samsung One UI through Package Disabler, Nova Launcher wont do anything when Recents button is pressed . Home and Back buttons are working fine though.
The only way of getting Recents button work is to re-enable Samsung One UI but in this case it works on the background and consumes battery.
Is this a known issue? Is there a workaround? Thanks.
You will lose other things too, like notification badges, etc.
Not much you can do but leave one ui enabled.
You can disable background data, remove all widgets and such from one ui so there isn't background updates happening tho.

Same issue here... it's been bugging me for months now ... it's hard to use MFA apps as I can't switch to recent apps ..
is there any app I can install that will give me the ability to call recent apps some other way? This is my work phone .. if it was mine I would toss it in a blender and get a google phone these god forsaken carrier apps, work apps and phone providers apps make my blood boil!!!!
I almost miss the days of having two non working rooted phones....at least it was MY fault they were not working because I had control of what apps!!!

Just wanted to say.
I have been using Nova Prime launcher for many years.
Who knows how long 10...15 years maybe?
From my Note 2....3. 4. etc.. upwards!
Nova was and is, always my default launcher.
I have left Samsung launcher, to run in the background.
Never ever disabled it.
Never ever, have I found that Samsung launcher using excess /noticeably, battery .
or that it was an issue for me.
It's your choice, but why create problems for yourself.?
Good luck.
Also, try Nova gestures to bring up recent apps - see if it works using this way
Same issue, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel Launcher, Nova Prime, Android 12.
Nova's gestures don't call up the recent apps either
No way around it, even being rooted?
