Can someone explain the nature of the reboots that they are experiencing? I had a reboot on Friday but it was much more then just a reboot, after the phone was finishing powering back up I had no ability to call out as if there was no service. I tried numerous battery pulls and even had Verizon do a reset on there end, nothing helped yet I was still able to receive and send data. Finally after about an hour my service was back. Then the same thing happened again yesterday, I went through the same processes with no success yet. I have tried all the different radio choices and nothing is working, does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks!!!
Also I am rooted and using the stock rom
Bump..........
Did you do any radio flashes? I know mine rebooted on me when I was trying to flash the GB leak from yesterday and there wasn't even a signal bar...just blank space. I reflashed my radio and everything was ok.
Edit: read the last line that I missed before. I am assuming if you are on a stock rom that you didn't flash any radios (otherwise it would have been noted). Thats the only thing that I have run across causing issues. SMH
Yes, I had similar problem
I was running the Stripped Das BAMF with the new radio (same as the one that recently came out OTA) and had this no service problem twice. Since I'm in a 3G only area, I have been using CDMA auto(PRL) and use the Phoneinfo app to change it. I tried to change the network type to something else but couldn't change it. (I presume the network type is for data, but I was trying to see if changing it would affect the service). The other options were there, but I couldn't select anything other than the CDMA auto. A battery pull fixed my problem both times.
Now I'm running BAMF Remix 1.6.3 with the new radio and everything is fine. I don't change the voltages or overclock. Yesterday as I was driving around town the phone rang, but I didn't answer it. When I got home, the phone had powered down and did a reboot.
Just an additional thought. You might try doing a data wipe/factory reset to see if that helps. Of course, you lose your settings that way, so back up first.
Hi all,
I'm having a bit of trouble with my milestone xt720. I can't get any gingerbread based ROM to work with 3g/MMS correctly. I've tried fjfalcon's CM7, J.Y.Daddy's CM7, HONO, Ice&Fire... I can't get any connections trying to send MMS. Yet, when I use CM6, Bravo or even MIUIv4, my mms is working.
I've tried applying Wind baseband, tried flashing brightpoint and UK sbfs incase that was the issue to no avail.
Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.
Any WIND xt720 users have anything similar? I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong...
And even when I'm on CM6, the MMS/Data only works if I flick data on and off. Otherwise, my mms will just sit in messaging (with no notification!) with a link to download.
any help is greatly appreciated!
Hey there. First things first: what are your steps to set up the ROM? Do you always flash, factory reset? Or do you flash the SBF?
Did you also set up your APN settings after flashing an SBF? More information would be good
I usually restore to a nandroid of the stock WIND config, then boot into OR, apply updates then factory reset/ clear cache. However, I was afraid that was the problem, so I tried flashing both the UK SBF and Brightpoint SBF with fjfalcon's CM7.2 and neither have worked either.
My APNs remain after I flash, for some reason. I've tried re-entering them too.
you need to set the APN first
else it's not going to work
what is currently shown on your APN list?

WIND CA and WIND CA MMS. All the settings should be correct, since they work when I use them on CM6.3.6 rom.
I'm so confused

So, just to clarify: this issue is more related to you sending/receiving MMS rather than related to 3G data at all?
I only use CM6, and I have the same issues with receiving MMS. The fact that there is a quick workaround (as you have described, turning data on and off) means that I don't really consider this a problem. Sending MMS works fine for me: you can see the quick 3G turning off and on again when it sends successfully.
I don't really have enough experience with CM7 roms to say anything, maybe others could chime in here?

Well, I guess, but in those instances where I can't send MMS, I can't get a data signal either. To be honest, I'd be fine with this on&off mms thing if the camera on CM6.3.6 was more stable... the reason why I want to switch up to CM7 is 'cause the camera was more stable for me.
Could anyone would has gotten CM7 to work on Wind with 3G chime in?
Thanks!
update
I just tried flashing ChronosX and as expected, MMS and data don't work. This was a fresh install from SBF and the APNs was checked to be correct.
Does anyone else experience this?
I just flashed brianlili's CronosX RC2 and I was able to send an MMS no problem. The 3G went off and on like it usually does. Also got one of my friends to send an MMS (he's on Fido), and with the same behavior I got his MMS too.
I also tried this on fjfalcon's CM 7.2.0 (yes, I was on a ROM spree today haha) with the same success. The same 3G off/on behavior occurred as well.
It may help if you redescribe your problem again, in a bit more clarity?
Thanks for replying.
When I'm using a gingerbread ROM, and I try to send an MMS, it'll just keep saying "Service is not available, etc". I can't receive MMS either, I just get the link to download it, which returns the same error. The 3G never turns on at all.
I made sure that I an using correct APNs and that Data is on. I try flicking it on and off too like on CM6 to no avail. Is there something I'm forgetting?
Thanks
So long story short...
- Updated to CM10 official "stable" build last night (from November 1st Nightly, which I never had issues with)
- Started it up, phone wouldn't activate.
- Read about a hotfix. Wiped, flashed, applied hotfix, etc.
- Still could not activate/receive phone calls.
- Tried to flash back to stock with root and it didn't work.
- Realized my IMEI was missing.
- Followed a guide to get my IMEI back.
- Still not much progress. I can get 4G data, but when I try to make a phone call it says "Mobile network not available".
- Decided to ODIN + flash 100% stock
- Still no phone calls sending/receiving.
Now I can access 4G data, but I cannot make or receive phone calls. I have tried various wipes, resets, battery removals, SIM removals, etc. etc.
Anyone have any advice for me? It has been about 12 hours now that I've been without service.
It does show that I have 3-4 bars on the status bar, but I still cannot make calls.
Much appreciated.

i don't know the number off the top of my head, but someone said to call the # that gets your number reprovisioned, that could possibly fix the issue thats plaguing you
edit: just did a quick search and someone said just call verizon from another phone and say "hey, i need ya to reprovision my phone, its number is blahblahblah" and just go thru it that way

Try to reprovision your sim card using this code:
*2767*3855#
It will format your internal storage so back it up. You must be on TouchWiz as well.

Same nearly EXACT problem for me. Back on stock now still no phone but I do have data. Did the provisioning code but still get mobile network not available message. Did calling Verizon work? Any help greatly appreciated!

Yep. Put my girlfriend's in and same thing. Going to try re-rooting, installing stock TW again, and see what happens.

Your eri might be borked... The only way I was able to fix that on my phone was using the now deleted IMEI and ERI tool thread.

Damn, that's what I figured too. I have seen some issues semi-related to this subject with others who were running CM 10.1 roms, not just S3 owners, so I guess that no matter how many times you do something right, sometimes things still go wrong, It just is what it is, or that damn program HiApn was a little beyond me, and I borked it up that way. Got the new TouchWiz multi-window OTA update update fine though, re-rooted it and was going to explore it further, but I think I'm just going to replace it under warranty since the one year will be up in a couple weeks. Sorry to do that, since it keeps the price of phones high, but crap. It looks like it's toast for telephony, although 911 DOES work, just nothing else phone related. It sees my phone number, and can read that much of the sim, and my IMEI appears to be true. Strangest damn thing! Oh well, looks like a re-locked bootloader and Triangle Away for me.Thanks for your responses, best of luck to the OP....
(Oh, and btw, I actually like that multi-window feature, so when I get my new one, I'm just going to leave it factory!)
Wait a minute...borked ERI? That's fixable? If it's not too radical, I have a few days to try that before I have to send my original phone back, so if I can fix it I'd rather do that.
After reading that post you put up a link to, my ERI is already at 5...?
Ok, first of all I'm an old veteran at flashing ROMs. Secondly, I know about the SIM card reset, where I restore my phone to factory settings and enter a number in the dialpad (can't remember it, have it written down) to reset your network connection. The thing is, I have a few hours left at work before I'll have time to attempt that, so I wanna explain this issue to the community and see if there's an easier option.
So, to start, I have been running the 01/02 build of Bean Stalk 4.4.2 for a few weeks now with no issue. I'm also on the latest modem, VRUCML1, which I again have been running for a while with no issue.
Today I decided to try out some newer builds, so I made a nandroid and then flashed the new Carbon 4.4 build (01/19). This was when I had my first network issue, where it had me stuck in roaming even though I was in my home. So, thinking the ROM may still have some issues, I switched to a newer build of Bean Stalk (01/17). While I now had mobile data back, I found that my phone was unable to send SMS.
I finally restored my nandroid, yet now I find that this problem is still persisting. I flashed the previous modem, VRBMF1, and the problem still persists.
The weirdest thing, though, is that even though it won't send SMS, my mobile data works fine. I'm able to browse the web at full LTE speeds, but not send SMS.
Edit: After a recent test, it seems phone calls won't work either. So my phone seems to be handling the LTE functions well enough, but is having trouble with the CDMA/EVDO part of the antenna.
Anyone who has any advice, please help. Like I said, I'm inclined to do a SIM reset, but won't be able to until much later tonight.

My IMEI is there, it was the first thing I checked. I did the whole IMEI backup thing way back in the beginning with this phone.
IMEI wouldn't explain the problem anyway. I still have 2-3 bars of LTE at all times, which I wouldn't have if I didn't have my IMEI. For whatever reason regular phone communications (SMS/Calls) won't go through. Since I know that Verizon still routes those communications through the older CDMA/EVDO network, I'm assuming that's the source of my problem.

Sure just make sure things don't get corrupted, if everything is still in order then you can reset sim, worse case call VZ and they can reset (re-provision) the sim for you. Happened to me twice and VZ solved them in both cases.
The problem i had i couldn't recieved calls. Everything worked fine..
I ended up getting new sim card then the employee dialed *73 then my fone was back in action

yeah I figured that would have to be the answer from the beginning. Have to Odin back to stock first, won't be able to do that for probably another 3-4 hours because of a work meeting that's about to start, so I figured I'd ask around.
If anyone has any other ideas, I'm open to them. Otherwise I'll reprovision tonight and report back.
The data/sms issue isn't odd... sms and calls are on the 1x protocol, data is on the LTE/CDMA/EvDO, so if you can't send sms, you can still use data.
Have you tried flashing one of the stock-based roms and seeing if the issue remains? I've encountered that before where stock is fine, but CM/AOSP roms have a wonky issue and *some* people report after doing so, they can get data/calls working on the custom roms. Unfortunately, my resolution there was to cab (LG device) back to factory image.

Flash back to stock, or a stock based rom with stock messaging. Try to force the message through. My messages stopped sending on aosp messaging and was persistent through rom flashes. I eventually forced it through using touchwiz messaging.

I have the AT&T version of the G2, its been rooted and I've tried both the Omni and Mahdi roms which i love, but im having major issues with not receiving incoming texts. Some come in, some dont, i have no idea why. When i text myself, they all come through. But i have had mamy people tell me that they texted me and i didnt respond. I did notice sometimes that when i restart my phone, i get a rush of text messages/emails once it powers back on. Also, i've tried both hangouts and regular aosp messaging apps and they are al lthe same. I following OP install directions for all roms and did a full wipe (as i always do anyways) when installing the roms.
Anyone else run into this issue or have any ideas?

Check your APN, I had this issue once before and switched my APN from AT&T LTE to AT&T PHONE. I still get LTE coverage without the SMS issues.
