Hi, i have phone Huawei G700, and when i use camera to record video it has size limit to 2 GB.
Even if i record 1080p or 720p in superfine, fine and normal.
I recorded 720p with normal quality, and it recorded around 36minutes.

App for long video recording

is there an app/script/hack for working around the 4gb size limit for video recording? like immediately start another recording when it has reached the limit?
I saw the NTFS trick but I would like to keep the file system as is. Thanks!

So I guess there is no such app exist that auto-split video recording files at 4GB length?
Probably not since the 4gb is a limitation of mp4 itself plus the phone would be busy processing the video it just took.

Isn't this something you can change in the settings of your camcorder?

mp4 is just a container format, it does not have any limit itself. the 4GB is the limit of FAT32 file system. The phone also writes as it records, so there is no processing done after the recording.
I'm just looking for an app perhaps to automatically record and start a new file again right after the file size limit has been reached, and continuously doing so till I manually stop the recording.

I'm having this very same issue with my device and Galaxy Note 2. I've tried recording in various formats but they all stop just short of an hours duration. I am willing to be that some clever tasker users out there can put together some sort or task/profile that restarts the recording immediately soon as the first recording reaches 59:59 or something like that. Also have it loop at least 3 times i.e. (vid#1 59:59, vid#2 59:59, and vid#3 59:59). If there is any app that could accomplish such a task it would certainly be tasker. The link to the dev page of tasker http://tasker.dinglisch.net/index.html
I don't know if anybody still has this problem... I was having for some time and searching around I was still unable to find a direct response. So, I have been using "DailyRoads Voyager" a gps/dashboard recorder to do the job. It records in 1080 and lower and can record larger files. After I am done I do use a video converter on them to reduce the sizes(converting to the same frame rate), apparently the recording device is not very efficient with compressing. It is not as good as the default recorder but works!
Wait the cool tasker.
While we can record videos on computer eaisly with voice recorder, but a app for mobile is cool.

This sounds pretty sweet, even tho I'm not rooted myself.
I'm wondering why Samsung set these limits, there must be some stability issues with this, otherwise it makes no sense to me. Btw, is Note 3 FAT or NTFS as standard?

Is it possible to set smooth mode by default so that you don't have to set it everytime? (Changes don't get saved with stock camera)

sorry I have not root my n900 yet.
so I have not use your mod yet. I appreciate it.
But The stock Camera only shot photos on recording [email protected] .
If you use Smooth motion(60fps) , You can't shot photos and record together.
So your mod had remove this limit from stock camera ?
Big thanks.:good: sorry my bad English.

On MJ7 ROM this limit is absent.
Possible cause is CSC region restriction.
EDIT
I checked out. You are right. Not posible on stock camera. With my last camera this limit is gone until you switch to 30fps then back to 60fps.

Google camera 6.1 with HDR+ and HDR+ enhanced

I was using the Google camera on the honor play only for recording videos and till now. Because I was not able to take the photos even in normal or HDR mode . Today I just tried to mess with the settings.... And found out that we actually can take photos in Hdr+ as well as Hdr+ Enhanced mode using the Google camera on the honor play.
All you have to do is just go to the settings and find the" BSG mod" option.....there you will see the "hdr+ parameters option". Click on it and decrease both the minimum frames and maximum frames to anything below 7 ....as the device isn't compatible and cannot take 7 frames for a picture...then restart the device...and you should be good to go.
BSG mod>> input model>> back camera pixel XL and front camera Nexus 6P....
BSG mod>>HDR Parameters>> min frames=4 and max frames=5.

can you give the complete name of the version your using , most people prefer to download from the original source for security reasons and to give credit to the original Dev
The version of the google camera is 6.1.021.220943556
Sadly doesn't work for me on COR-L29 on 9.0.0.190.
Still thanks for effort and share.

doesn't work for me either , and no BSG settings at all . What version of android are you using ? and your version and official arnova are different sizes too , yours is 100 mb while arnova is 79mb , probably another version thats been renamed
Thanks. It is working perfectly.
By the way, how to use Google Camera for video recording ? If I use without memory card then video recording can be done. But with memory card it says "Not enough storage left on this device".

what apps let you record without a time limit?

what apps let you record without a time limit?
I heard that with the stock android camera app the time limit for how long you can record is about 30min, even if you have a big SD Card.
And I heard that the max limit is 4GB but you can't get near it with the stock camera app (and I suppose SD cards won't generally be that big)..
But I would like to record for e.g. > 30min sometimes. So, does that 30min or some time limit exist and if so , what apps let you record for longer than the stock app, storage permitting?
Thanks

SD-cards are FAT32 formatted. On this filesystem the max filesize is 4GB.
@jwoegerbauer well whether you are on point or not, besides the 4GB file size limitation, I heard(though not a good source), that there is a 30min time limit that hits first. And that there are some apps that don't have this time limit. And i'm asking if this time limit exists and what apps don't have this time limit?
And actually, https://pocketnow.com/android-11-finally-lifts-the-4gb-file-size-limit-for-recording-videos-sort-of There is a 4GB Android limitation that has been lifted recently. (So, nothing to do with FAT32). I don't nkow if maybe an SD card can be formatted as other than FAT32 eg exFAT or NTFS., on Android..
They mention that the Open Camera app can shoot larger than 4GB (no doubt not on FAT32).
The suggestion then is maybe the stock camera app can't.
I suppose if the stock also has a 30min limitation, then the open camera app won't.
Added
I notice that one of my videos is 1hr long so I think maybe there isn't a 30min limit!
Though my recording isn't 4K. I just read
"Only 4K video recording has time limit of 4 to 8 minutes(phone to phone varies) as it takes large amounts of storage space on your device and heats up the device to much greater extent. So to eradicate these two things, companies limit the video recording in 4K UHD in their devices. If you are recording in Full HD, 720p or other lower quality and have ample storage space in your phone to save those recordings then you can record as much as you want. "
@gardina
I only pointed out a technical fact. Nothing else.
If others know better, then be it.
BTW: I no longer participate this thread because I'm not interested in your issue at all.
