Convert your Xperia M2 into Xperia Z3 (Launcher & Animated Wallpapers) [ROOT] - Sony Xperia M2

Hi there!
Today I'm bringing to you a small tutorial on how to convert our Sony Xperia M2 into a Xperia Z3, using it's launcher and themes, digital clock (optional) and (PLUS!) the Teased Xperia Lollipop NavBar.
First of all, you need to be on KitKat and have ROOT permissions. Learn how to get it in both locked and unlocked bootloader here.
Then, before anything, make a backup of Home.apk and WallpaperPicker.apk, from the /system/app, into a secure folder, maybe in your internal memory or in your SD card. After that, download and unzip the Xperia Z3 Transformation Pack I'll attach below in any folder of your SD card (or Internal memory). Then, copy all extracted files to /system, NOT /system/app yet. Now, using the permissions modifier, change the permissions of all the files into RW-R--R (Inverted "L"), just like this pic. After that, move all the files EXCEPT Home.apk to /system/app. Replace if needed. Wait until you see in the statusbar that all the themes have been properly recognized (you'll see 7). And now, move the Home.apk, to /system/app and replace the original. WARNING: After this step you can't hit the Home button, directly turn your phone completely off. Start it up again and you will see an Android is updating dialog... Wait until it finishes and there you have it! You'll see the Xperia Z3 Launcher (*).
(OPTIONAL) Now, to get the Digital Clock, download from Play Store the Digital Clock Widget Xperia, from Lazar Dimitrov. Open it up and skip the tutorial. Just below the clock preview, in the left side, choose Big (4x2) in the drop down menu. In General tab, check Time Format, 24 or 12 Hrs, just like you want. Date format, the first of all (Like "Sunday, 18 april"). In Font Settings, choose Time Font: Xperia.ttf, Font Size: big widget: Time 75, date 17, approximately. Check also Bold Hours and uncheck Show Colon. Then, go to home, and add the new widget "Xperia Digital Clock (4x2)". Hit Ok and now you're done for the clock.
(PLUS!) Finally, for the NavBar, go to this thread and download the latest update (right now latest is v1.2.1). Download the apk, install it and, from the notification that appears from Theme manager in the statusbar, click it and choose Apply theme. After some secs. you'll have the teased Xperia Lollipop NavBar.

Xperia Z3 Transformation Pack (v1)
Also I leave here some pictures of the final result below :
(This one is from loveninecube theme post, just to show the final result of the NavBar buttons)
FAQ:
Q: (*) Why when I booted up the phone I see this now?

A: This is because the phone didn't recognized the Home.apk. That happened me too the first time. To fix it, simply delete the Home.apk, restart your phone, copy again to /system/app and give right permissions to the file Home.apk, and, ASAP turn your phone off. Then start it again and surely it'll work. :victory:
Hope you enjoyed the result!

I already tried that before, but it didn't worked as well as this one, in my case... For non-root users, it's pretty easy to gain root access with this tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-m2/help/qa-rooting-locked-bootloader-ota-method-t2999665, both in locked and unlocked Bootloader, and it's also compatible with latest 18.3.1.C.1.13 4.4.4

Can I just ask what is the actual difference between m2 n z3 launcher? They pretty similar from looks

Actually only things that change are the app tray icon, now more similar to stock one, the persistent Google search in top of the screenm, below the statusbar, the pinch out view, to add widgets, and the position of the pages, now is at the bottom, on top of the dock... The rest is all the same.

I see the pinch to view bit and Google search which I like, but isnt the add widgets like that at the bottom on m2 as well? theres not much difference there

[MOD]Transparent NEW 2.3.4 2011 Xperia SE Launcher for 2.3.3 X10

A small release after seeing how popular transparent launcher mod was, now with the new 2011 Xperia update leaked launcher.
Advantages of the launcher
-MUCH smoother
-You can hide apps now from the drawer
-Cool floaty animation when in Overview mode.
DOWNLOAD:http://www.mediafire.com/?r95tb6m67q5l5tu
Screenshot:As usual, ignore the transparent statusbar....I'm too lazy to make a new screeny . This is a old screeny from the 2.1 days. I am having problems using transparent PNGs with the stock GB, it causes all kinds of FCs and dissapearings, so I'm stuck, so no transparent statusbar and theme for now until I learn how to fix it. Any help is appreciated

Updated with flashable zip..now it works

it's working, i hope in the future u can add the same to the status bar...
thanks for ur work
the way to install the apk on stock rooted SE 2.3.3 is as follows, well this is wot i did and it worked lol:
1. download the apk in 1st post and rename to Home.apk
2. using root explorer replace the current Home.apk with the one u just renamed (in system/app )
3. change permissions of the apk (all 3 ticked in 1st column and only the 1st in second column.
4. reboot
well a zip has been provided so wud probably be easier jus to do that lol. thanks to OP great stuff

when you open the app drawer u get 3 icons at the bottom, 1 is the a-z thing, the middle is home button and last icon at bottom of drawer is 4 little squares, press this and it allows u to hide apps from drawer. the thing im not sure if this uninstalls them or hides them as ive not tried the function.
It uninstalls the app instead of hide. Which is awesome.

THX. easy by XRecovery flashing.
Works fast & is perfect.
Only thing I miss is > the (transparant) powermanager from the WB 2.2.1 v009 on this version?
(wifi/Bt/Gps/Sync/3G/displayettings/screen)
Really interested in getting a transparent status bar on 2.3.
Specifically WB's ROM.
Let me know of any progress made. I tried using UOT kitchen, it kind of worked, but it was a little buggy.
It was my first experience with UOT though, I'll mess around with it some more soon.
deleted file? both links... or is this not available anymore?
I confirm. Both links are not available.
Is this the same version of SE launcher which is included in Wolf 2.3.3 v3.9 rom ?
Oops, I might have deleted it..will reupload soon.
Edit:here it is (Not in flashable zip format, just the APK, us root explorer or something to replace current home.apk with this) http://www.mediafire.com/?r95tb6m67q5l5tu
i installed it. and there is no "hide apps" from the apps drawer.anyway, thanks to transparent launcher. hope you'll make flash.zip soon

[GB] Xperia launcher with options

First of all, i'd like to say that the only thing i made was to port the launcher to work with Achotjan's Stock Replacement ROM (and other roms that are/will be included). All the options, menus and so on seen in the launcher are made by other members in our Xperia community.
I'd also try to port the launcher for other roms if there are requests for this.

Here are some of the options:
--- option to choose number of screens
--- choose the background color of the dock
--- selecting screen indicators style - dots or squares(like in stock 2.3.3 launcher)
--- option to rotate the launcher in landscape mode
much more that i can't remember
How to set an option:
--- choose whatever option You want
--- go to "manage applications"
--- choose Xperia Home
--- press Force close
--- the launcher will then restart and new settings will take place
Installation:
--- flash your desired zip according to the rom You're using
Ports to different GB-based ROMS:
--- Achotjan stock 2.3.3
--- Feralab ROM
--- ICS launcher on stock GB
--- DonutHD
--- Wolf 2.3.3
--- DonutHD with ICS app drawer icon
--- Achotjan's Debrand Engine

is this xperia home v0.9.2c?
Not really. v0.9.2c was made by ra3al, this version is updated with more options and as far as i know v0.9.2c is used as a base for this one.
Copied both to system folder..launcher and settings are working..but settings won't stick after reboot e.g.: I set 3 homescreens but after reboot its back to 5:/ any tips?
Thank you
Is there a possibility to have a new version for cm7 semc debrand engine too?
Sent from my Xperia X10 using xda premium
deathbreath2010, what you have to do after choosing your settings is to go to "manage apllications" option, then choose Xperia Home and stop the apllication, it'll restart and then the new settings will be set
InternationalPlayer71, of course mate, i'm going to test it and i'll upload it tomorrow if everything is smooth
weird, i've placed both apps at system/app folder using a root browser but they didn't work, now i'm having problems with rom stuck at bootanimation, tryed to fix permissions but nothing changed...
i'm on Achotjan's Lite rom using some of his add-ons, maybe there is a conflict?
Worked for me. After replacing via explorer.. don't forget to set permissions and reboot.
you manually set permissions to rwrr, correct? I 'll try this later
Use ADB to push the stock launcher for the rom and then try again, as already said, fixing permissions is important

i m using Achotjan_Stock_Remplacement_Rom | X10i_2.3.3_6.0.B.0.743_V2.0..
what should i do to install this home apk?
just flash the rar ?
InternationalPlayer71, it's normal for the launcher to show more colorful background, however i noticed that when a screenshot is captured they get even more colorful
iVolcaNoz, i made flashable zips so now what you have to do is to flash the zip according to the rom you're running, use xrecovery for installation.
EDIT: added launcher with options for Feralab v20
For DonutHD?

[MOD]Change the size of navibar[MOD] [Added 4.2.2 Latest]

Well i was trying to change the size of navibar button since much time , and it took me much time in figuring out how to it successfully , i suffered from many bootloops trying to play with framework-res.apk then i tried to find another ways to do it and this works 100% . I patched and edited the system-ui.apk to fix the bug of back button on navibar. Navibar size is reduced to 32 , if you want other sizes , you can request here.
Things you need:
1.Rooted phone
2.Deodexed phone
For deodexing try this following link:
Code:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2401199
3.Any root browser , I prefer root-explorer
4.Download the zip from the attachment.

Step 2: Copy the framework-res-overlay.apk to '/system/vendor/overlay" and change permissions to 644
Step 3: Restart your phone and wait for some times , it may take long time to load
Step 4: Enjoy :good:
If you want honami style batery icon , you can download different systemui.apk

Works great, although I might suggest to reverse the steps and copy the framework first, then the systemUI, because at least for me as soon as I copied SystemUI, it started crashing on me making hard to get the framework copied over. After a reboot, it's fine but replacing it in use started to crash it.

Hello, and thanks for making available the nice-looking Z-themes. Nevertheless I don't manage to see those themes after changing permissions and putting the files to "system/app". Only thing that happened to me is that the PlayStore icon on the homescreen turned into some transparent square icon. Anyone found a sound way of installing the themes/apk's?
