My F350S is working well with root (no bugs so far in 3days heavy use)
I am not sure this method will work on F350L/K, D838.... so be careful. And sorry for my bad english.

This has become the preferred rooting method in absence of custom recovery. you could also flash Xposed for Lollipop while you're at Kitkat.

Sorry, how I should understand your comment about Xposed? Is this mean, I can root Lollipop BEFORE installing, by Xposed for Lollipop?
Please, explain.

In the absence of custom recovery for Lollipop rooting requires one to have a rooted Kitkat with custom recovery installed. Now to have Lollipop, we flash a flashable variant of Lollipop and THEN while we're still in recovery, we flash SuperSU. This is perhaps how you have a rooted Lollipop and most of us followed this process.
Since we now have Xposed for Lollipop, it can be flashed at the same stage when we flash SuperSU. So when we reboot the device, we have a rooted Lollipop with Xposed preinstalled.
Hope this clarifies any doubt.

I see, so this mean, we have only one chance to install some .zips thru recovery - after install Lollipop but before reboot?

You can flash this via adb to get custom recovery back:
http://pan.baidu.com/s/1mgHZuLM
Thank you for the link... would you mind explaining exactly what the file is and if it will work with a d838? I would love to have recovery for my LG Pro2 with Lollipop
Also how do you install a zip file using ADB? Any online guide I can find says you need to boot the phone into recovery first (which of course we dont have)

I couldn't contain my excitement so went ahead and installed the linked recovery. I installed adb on my pc, set my LG pro 2 to usb debugging, extracted the linked zip to my desktop and ran the .bat file. Within 20 seconds I had a custom recovery on my Lollipop
I haven't tried installing anything with the recovery yet - but it seems to be working so far with my 838 32g version.
Manny thanks!

My Australian-bought XT1033 (dual sim) got Kitkat today.
System version is:
171.44.31.falcon_umtsds.AsiaRetail.en.03
Looking into installing CWM - got adb working so will flash recovery and take a nandroid.
update: bah, just found that unlocking bootloader would void my warranty and requires a unique key from Motorola, so sorry, can't install CWM - phone is too new to void warranty until I'm sure it doesn't have any faults (this is my first non-Nexus phone so didn't realise bootloader unlocking would be so irritating).
edit: lol, looks like its already here on the forums, cool.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2639384
I don´t know why, but my G isn´t installing this update on stock recovery and isn´t upgrading when using OTA updates. It always says that an error occurs, but never show me any error code. Anyone is having this issue?
Another strange thing, is that when I plug my device on my notebook, it doesn´t recognize which version of android I´m running.
I´ve flashed Blur_Version.14.91.9.falcon_umtsds.Brasil.en.BR and stills the same thing. Any help would be great
Thanks in advance.

Hi, will this work on locked and unlocked phones?
Doubt
Hi!
Could I use this ROM if I brick my phone? I do really intend to install CM11, but I'm afraid if something goes wrong what should I do. As long as I know, the RSD Lite doesn't recognize our Mogo G, is there another safe (and easy) way to recover our phone as factory default?
Another newbie doubt, if we do install a ROM (let's say, one of the Motorola site - http : // sbf.droid-developers.org / phone.php?device=14 -without spaces]) we will have our bootloader locked back?
Thanks!

I have the same XT1033 dual sim with 16GB and updated it to KitKat OTA. My Moto G was a grey import (into Australia) destined for India (it came with a Motorola charger and handsfree).
The system version is: 171.44.31.falcon_umtsds.AsiaRetail.en.03. This update does not break USB OTG functionality, it's the same update that was rolled out in India. It now shows OTG capability in Settings > Storage (see the bottom where it says USB Disk). I haven't used it yet, but here's a video below demonstrating it:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9QLD8OknwyM
Here is a request to those that have updated to KitKat, is the OTG working after the update and which version was it?
And can someone upload the "171.44.31.falcon_umtsds.AsiaRetail.en.03.zip" update. I want to unlock and root, but also want to be able to return to the original stock rom later.
If you haven't updated yet, I think you can pull the file after you've downloaded it from the /Cache/ directory using adb. After downloading it, it will ask you whether to update later, choose later then pull the file to the desktop. I forgot to do this step...
Thanks :victory:
/EDIT
Nevermind, the Motorola naming of updates had me confused. The file that I was after was actually "Blur_Version.14.85.4.falcon_umtsds.AsiaRetail.en.03.zip" which can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=49390749&postcount=1
When updated the version and baseband will be:
Baseband: MSM8626BP_1032.355.66.00R
System: 171.44.31.falcon_umtsds.AsiaRetail.en.03
Kernel:3.4.0-g9f5dcdc

Just be prepared to do a bit of reading and research on the device and what you want to do with it. After a few years away from all this it can be a little overwhelming for me. If you can understand the process and learn from the mistakes others have made, you'll avoid them yourself. Be patient and think ahead, be sure of what you are doing and why then you won't have too many problems.
Team Win Recovery Project 2.x, or twrp2 for short, is a custom recovery built with ease of use and customization in mind. Its a fully touch driven user interface no more volume rocker or power buttons to mash. The GUI is also fully XML driven and completely theme-able. You can change just about every aspect of the look and feel.

Do you need root to flash the img.
Yes to flash using the linked tool you do need root. If you use the recovery method then no root isn't needed.

I agree. Wish myself or someone else would/could build cm12 for thus bad boy. I'm super happy someone finally built twrp for our tablet but I just can't see going back to kitkat without being able to flash a rom. I really didn't like LG kitkat on my V700. I love lollipop but I can't use this on lollipop.

Has anyone successfully installed this recovery on their v700? I tried every way possible and even with 2 different apps with no success. I am on lollipop though. Do you have to downgrade to get this working? If so can you downgrade, install tarp then go back to lollipop?

You have to be on kitkat and no you cannot retain custom recovery and upgrade. I tried the recovery on kikat out and it works great but until someone figure out how to make our lollipop rom flashable on kitkat it wont be possible. Or if someone builds CM 12.1 or something. Apparently noone with our device can or is willing to. I would but I wouldn't even know where to start.

There is a way to use the kitkat aboot with the lollipop rom and resourses but I don't know how. That's how I got recovery on my G3. Someone made an app to install recovery while on lollipop by downgrading just the aboot to kitkat.

Flash at own risk!!!!
I take no responsibility for anything you do to your device. Flashing any custom recovery will trip KNOX.
Installation:
Your phone must be rooted to install TWRP!
Install using Flashify or "dd if=twrp.img of=/dev/block/platform/soc.0/by-name/recovery"
does it work?
I decided to take a chance and try this recovery. WORKS !!! Thank you very much
Confirm the action on the Samsung Galaxy A3 (SM-A300FU)
Installs fine, I go into the recovery but trying to install a .zip update (it contains a .tar.md5 file which in turn contains img files among others, got it off mega, looks legit) renders an error with no md5 file.
Can twrp install the .zip or is the zip incorrectly packed?

Nah its cool I realise now I tried flashing an Odin .zip update as if it were a OTA update.zip type of .zip file. I'll just wait for someone to make an OTA flashable zip or get a hold of a PC and flash through odin.

I know what you mean. My phone also doesn't boot into recovery, maybe the cause is that I updated to Lollipop? Screen is getting very bright and then phone reboots.

Could someone provide me a Lollipop boot.img?

I'm not that tech savvy enough to do all this stuff, you might want to look here for errors.
I'm not the dev, and followed another person's guide to install recovery so I can't help with the guide in this thread.

I received the notification but I can't see your post in the thread.
Anyway, I unlock the bootloader; I installed the TWRP recovery using fastboot; In recovery mode I wasn't able to make a backup since there was an issue: "Cannot create folder data/media/0/TWRP" Permission denied.
I tried to install the ROM anyway, since I had no useful data on the phone but then the bootloop started.
I was able to download again files for the factory reset .
I guessed the problem is root access or TWRP wrong version. Any advices? Thanks a lot!
