After I received my bamboo style/swap my mic for in and out going calls suddenly stopped working. I had followed the directions for installing the new back cover that were provided by OnePlus one which included the first step, which was to place my headphone jack halfway down the hole and gently bend to create a gap in order to provide a space so I could insert the plastic tool to remove the current stock cover. Long story short, I realized that my headphone stem had broken off at the tip and was jammed in the hole making the phone think that I always had the headset connected and therefore the mic on calls was inoperable. I then took the back off and removed several screws to remove the plate that covered the 3.5mm jack hole. I carefully took tweezers and removed the broken tip and put the phone back together and voila... my phone mic is back to working order. I am not saying that this is the issue with everyone or anyone, but it fixed my issue.

Hi Guys,
I am one of the unfortunate one's who now has a broken 3.5mm jack.
Problem:
TP2 is stuck in headset mode.
After sticking in 3.5mm plugs like 50times it won't produce any sound in 3.5mm jack either now!
Tried:
wiggling 3.5mm plugs all over the place
re-romed to a different rom even.
powered down, removed batter etc
out of warranty - i think? if it's 1 year + in a different country
Has anyone been able to pull apart the 3.5mm jack to fix the pins, or have a diagram so at least i know where i can poke and prod?
Any suggestions etc much appreciated,
Riss
I had this same problem and after attempting to plug it in over and over, cleaning the contacts, applying gentle pressure, etc. I finally got fed up and figured that I'd take it in after trying one last thing...
I basically stuck a headphone jack inside (not one that's too delicate) and put some leverage pressure on it in all the directions. And it fixed it. Don't put *too* much pressure on it or you'll have to explain why you broke off a headphone jack inside your phone, but putting just a little more pressure than you'd normally feel safe doing fixed the problem for me.
YMMV, and I'm totally not responsible if you break it lol.
Thanks for the idea, i'll give it a try.
I've claimed and received $$ on insurance, so now i've got to decide if I buy another TP2 or move onto something like a galaxy s or whatever... so much to look at.
The headphone jack on my Gtab completely broke off from the motherboard. I'm not going to solder it back since I rarely use the headphone.
But the problem is the speakers now have no sound.
My question is, without soldering the headphone jack back, is there anyway on the circuit board that I can short to make the Gtab think the headphone is not connected so that it would output sounds to the speakers?
Or is there any apps that I can disable the headset jack completely and only uses the speakers?
Thanks.
I could make you a small app to force speaker route. Not sure if that would work.
That would be great!
If the app doesn't work, I either need to get a replacement jack or figure out
what solder points to jump in order to get the speakers to work.
Does anyone know what solder points to connect in order to get the
speakers to work. Or does anyone know where to get a
replacement jack?
Thought I sent you a message. Might have been an email as their is nothing showing in my outgoing messages.
Is the headphone jack breaking something we need to be careful about or did you do something out of the ordinary that broke it?
slysecretspy:
Thanks a lot. I got your PM, but the app won't install on either stock or TNT Lite.

This is definitely a build quality issue. There are only two little plastics and tiny solders holding the headphone jack in place. If you use certain types of headphones, such as the JLab ones with long connectors, it is particularly easy to break it off the motherboard. My suggestion is unplug the headphone every time you put the Gtab is a bag and don't use headphone when you're moving.

I believe it is too. Mine now requires me to hold pressure on it in order to get sound from both left and right.
My headphone jack has been janky lately, if I nudge the jack while it's inserted the sound will cut out briefly in one ear, it's mostly fine nearly all the time, but it's getting annoying.
I recently had the phone open to replace the battery, and I tried to fix it myself at the time by raising the height of the gold contacts there so any movement wouldn't disconnect it, but no dice.
Will buying a brand new socket for it and just replacing that fix it?
If so how much should I pay for a replacement one (eBay)?
Thanks,
para
Is it possible something is stuck inside the headphone jack? It's also possible that there is something wrong with the motherboard.
I assume you don't have another phone to test the headphone jack?
I have the same problem, sometimes it's the cable of the headphones, so check if it's okay.
I have a spare new one. The headphone socket slots in a gap. Have you looked at a, video showing how to replace it? Do that then take yours to bits and put it back .it should be ok. If not let me know. If you are in the UK I can give you a new one, free.
Hi guys,
I recently started having problems with my jack port. It does get recognized by the headphones and i am able to play music normally. The problem is a that when i plug in my headphone, if i move them, one of the channels gets cutoff.
Has anyone encountered this issue?
Thanks,
Matei
Try a different set of headphones, could be split/broken wires in the cord.
Nope, the headphones are ok.
Hey fookea, yes I've had this issue. However, mine is so bad that I cannot plug anything into it without major static and crackling noises coming through, if I get sound at all.
From what I've gathered, our headphone jack needs to be protected because it gets dirty very easily. Moreover, this problem is not uncommon for the Z3 and if you send it off, or take it to a Sony repair shop, they'll fix it at no charge.
You can also try taking a Q-tip and pulling some of the cotton from the end. Dampen the end with a small amount of rubbing alcohol and try cleaning the jack out. If this doesn't work, you'll have to have it repaired.
I'd advise getting a case that protects the headphone jack, like the Ringke Fusion (it's what I have). I regret purposely breaking the headphone jack protector off the case after getting it because I don't think I'd have the issue I do now.
Good luck!
Thanks man! Will try this at home
So, I broke my screen and did the repair myself. Everything went well, except during reassembly I discovered that when I popped the antenna wire off the socket, I pulled the socket off the motherboard. I was able to solve this issue by soldering the bare antenna wire end to what remained of the socket...which was s tiny strip of copper where the socket used to be. After getting the wire to stick, I finished reassembly and everything work.... almost.
I discovered my auto-brightness is not working, along with screen shutoff when I bring the phone to my ear. I'm guessing I didn't plug a ribbon in correctly or fully. Can anyone give me any more detail on this sensor and how it connects to the motherboard? I can go back in, but I don't want to do it until I'm clear as to what I'm doing.
The phone is still usable though.... oh, one additional note. The screens available for around $50 are not of the same build quality as the OEM screen. They scratch allot easier. Probably not gorrilla glass III.

You might have disconnected or forgotten to reconnect the proximity sensor to the motherboard. Provided your replacement unit even comes with one. If not, you may need to do some additional hacking.
EDIT: looks something like this

Thanks!. I know that part and I might have not plugged it in fully. Also, there is a metal plate that sits over it, and I discovered I forgot to put that plate on after I had it all put back together. I'm going to go back in and check and replace that plate. I'm a little hesitant to go back in because during the screen replacement I broke the wire antenna socket off the motherboard when I popped the connector. I literally had to solder the antenna wire to the tiny copper strip left in the antenna socket hole. It worked as I have good wifi and mobile data, but it's extremely fragile and I don't think I'll get a 2nd chance if I break that wire off.
