Moto G 4G XT1039 WiFi Issues - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have no idea if anyone else has posted about this problem. My Moto G 4G Wifi stays connected but when trying to load a webpage or load something on facebook for instance it acts as if Wifi is disabled whilst I am actually connected and have a full signal. It is a tad annoying as I have to turn my Wifi off then on again to fix it but it happens quite frequently.

This is a well known Bluetooth/Wifi issue. They share the same frequencies and on the Moto G 4G it does not work well together.
There is one workaround : turn off bluetooth, turn off wifi, turn on wifi again, and your connection will be good. You can as well turn off bluetooth, activate flight mode, deactivate flight mode.
Another possible workaround is to use only the 5GHZ Wifi band, and not the 2.4 GHZ band that conflict with Bluetooth. For this you need to change your Wifi access point config, expecting that it's recent enough to allow that. Off course it won't work if you're not home, or don't have access to the configuration of your access point.

My moto g is the moto g 4g 1st gen. I have never had the Bluetooth turned on my device and its remained off since I bought it. My moto does not pick up 5ghz wifi frequencys and as far as I know no moto g 1st or 2nd gen can. I have entered recovery and cleared the cache and have tried turning my phone off and booting to safe mode to connect to my WiFi. Lastly I have changed my wifi's 2ghz channel a few times and whilst my device always can connect and shows it is connected after a little while it acts like I have lost connection even tho its clearly connected and I have to turn my phone's WiFi of then on again.

WiFi Continually disconnects and reconnects
I have similar problem. Just purchased Motorola Moto G 4G XT1039 (didn't want the larger size of the 2nd gen version). Connects to my wifi but continually disconnects and reconnects and web pages only intermittently load. Phone is located close to router and signal strength shows as Excellent except when disconnecting and reconnecting. If I watch my network name in Wifi Settings it frequently changes from Connected to Authenticating and reconnects. Have tried disabling disconnect duringsleep and avoid weak networks wifi options and cleared the cache but no effect. Internet works fine over 4G. Has anyone else experienced and managed to solve this problem? The phone has Android 4.4.4. Thanks

Try untick Wifi optimisation in advanced Wifi options.

Sorry - I should have said that I have already tried that as well but thanks for the suggestion. Just for info I have a laptop and a Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 tablet and an LG Smart phone that all connect with no dropouts at all so I don't think its a problem with the router. I'd be grateful for any more suggestions as I don't really want to have to return the phone.

Just spent the last few days on this. I have a Moto g 2nd gen Android 5.0.2
If the Bluetooth is on and certain devices are connected the wifi shuts off after 5 minutes. It's weird because some devices work. In any case shut off the Bluetooth and the wifi should work . At least mine does. If I use Sennheiser mm450-X headphones using Bluetooth the wifi shuts off. If I use Kinivo BTH 220 Bluetooth headphones I have no problem. So far I see the Sennheiser use the AptX codec which by the way was listed as a codec of the Moto g 2nd gen which is why I bought it.
Can some one with more knowledge look at this and possibly the others codecs?
Motorola said they are not responsible if your device does not work and maybe their next update to version 5.1 will fix it. I asked when the update will be out and the response is "soon". Having read multiple forums I'm guessing it has something to do with updates and or the codecs. I did the whole dance of wiping the phone and killing a chicken. At least the chicken was tasty.

(Solved) please Help WiFi

ok i did a search for WiFi problems everyone else's problem seems slightly different then mine
or not the same in the least
here is my problem
First i have NO data Plan so i turn 3g/4g off
then i Turn on WiFi and it works till i turn it off or reboot the phone
THEN even though it still connects to WiFi and my router says it's connected
i get no data throughput
no amount of resetting, deleting my router profile, rebooting phone, rebooting router, and messing with everything i can find INCLUDING setting my router to OPEN, changing the channel, changing from N to G or B from 40 mhz to 20
NOTHING works
EXCEPT
resetting phone to factory default
then it works again TILL i turn WiFi off or reboot/restart phone
any ideas ?
.
ok you can ignore this it has something to do with turning off the network 2g/3g/4g
I'm not sure what the setting is causing the problem, as I'm still looking into it
I'll post here when i find the setting that is causing the problem
in case it will help someone else
UPDATE:
ok under "Mobile network settings"
you can not turn off "Data enabled" (Enable data access over Mobile network)
why this affects WiFi i do not know as it should ONLY affect 2g/2g/4g
Because it says "Over Mobile network"
but it turns off WiFi data also
If i find anything else that effects WiFi I'll post it here
but for now this is the solution to my problem
PS: it's nice to be able to solve your own problem
PSS: don't call T-Mobile for help they will say you need flex pay or better plan to use WiFi, i hung up on the stupid bass-turd,
not to add to the fact it's super hard to understand their mangled English!
.
i got that problem last night, during my open box and testing the phone, all you have to do is reset the phone, then you are set to go; hope it works for you.
thanks for the reply
i found out what i was doing wrong
and edited my post
so others can not do what i did
thanks for the reply though
Maybe they did this on purpose to keep you from using the device with out a data plan. Who knows.
Has anybody tried to connect to a Time Capsule?? I cannot get my G2X to see my router for nothing. Is the G2X compatible with a N router??

maybe you should open your own thread about this ?
i do not use "Time Capsule" and not sure what it is (A router?)
to answer your last question the G2X supports Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, DLNA, Wi-Fi hotspot. so yes it supports the "N" standard
BUT
might not be compatible with ALL b/g/"N" routers
should be compatible with them all BUT might not be ...........
i am not an expert on routers, so cant say for sure
also could be that your router is to far away from your phone
your phones antenna is tiny, so has to be closer to the router then say a laptop or computer.
you might also want to consider going to a friends house and trying their wireless router.
anyway opening your own thread on this is your best bet
.
I have an airport extreme broadcasting mixed n/b/g and mine is really struggling. At first I thought it was the browser, but now it's doing it in both dolphin and the stock browser. It stalls a lot, connection seems to stop and restart. I already disabled wifi sleeping on the device. Pretty frustrating. Oh and mine is setup as hidden with no security on it at this time so that isn't the issue.

Wifi issue with Bluetooth headset being used

I had been having trouble with the wifi on the infuse since I got it. I would be connected but have no surf. At first I thought it was the router but I ruled that out by trying 4 different brand and several security settings.
I then noticed what seemed to be the problem. When I'm on the phone and using my bluetooth headset I would lose connection on the wifi. It would still show me connected to the wifi but I wouldnt have surf. The second I turned the bluetooth headset off, what ever page I was trying to load would come up. I tried this serveral times so I know its not my imagination.
Anyone else seen this issue? Btw its a motorola H790

G4 Won't Connect To Wireless 802.11n Only Network

Alright so I've run into an issue here. I just got a net ISP last night and so hooked up my own modem and router (I had TDS before). I set everything to run the way I used to at my previous home, WPA2 Personal, Wireless N Only, 20 or 40hz auto setting, auto DHCP, etc. Everything is connecting and working just fine except for my wife's LG G4.
The phone is only a couple of months old. My 1.5 year old LG G3 (running Cyanogenmod) connects to the wireless n only network with no issues. However her phone simply refuses to connect. It sees the network fine but just won't ever attempt to connect to it. It just 'saves' the network info.
I've tried rebooting the router, rebooting the phone, powering off the phone, pulling the battery, disabling network security, changing the channel from 20/40 to just 20hz, etc. Nothing I do will make this G4 connect to the wireless n only network. The only way I can get it to connect is to drop the wireless signal down from n-only to "mixed". Once it's set to "mixed", the G4 connects instantly.
Anyone else run into this issue? I know that the phone itself is supposedly rated for 802.11ac, along with 802.11n, g, etc. but it seems like there must be some sort of software config preventing it from connecting to n only since my G3 has no issues, but is running a custom rom.
Thoughts or ideas? I'd really like to get n only working as I'll be upgrading my modem pretty soon and will be pulling 110mbps down from my ISP.
Thanks!

Wi-Fi dies when using bluetooth to listen to audio?

This is my second phone to have this problem. First was my old S4, now my S7 has the same problem. Basically, I want to watch YouTube or Netflix on my phone over Wi-Fi, and I want to listen to it on a bluetooth headset. But after a few minutes of watching/listening, my Wi-Fi connection always dies, I get that little exclamation point next to the Wi-Fi symbol in my notification panel, and the only way to fix it is to turn off Wi-Fi and turn it back on. It'll work for another couple minutes, then die again and need to be reset. Bluetooth stays connected the whole time and never drops. It's just the Wi-Fi that gets dropped. If I turn Bluetooth off and just listen via phone speaker or wired headphones, no problem, Wi-Fi can cruise all day.
The research I've done suggested that 2.4GHz might be causing a problem, but my network is 5GHz. Another suggestion was to switch the phone to a static IP address, that didn't help. I'd also read that Android has problems with IPv6, so I went to disable that in my router and discovered that it's never been on.
So, I found three solutions on my own, and none of them worked. Now it's time to reach out to the brain trust here. Does anyone have any idea what might be the problem? Vanilla S7, no root or ROMs. Thanks!

Have you tried the usual first step in troubleshooting, have you tried booting to recovery and wiping the cache partition?
You can also try flashing the stock firmware for your model number via Odin.

Problems with moto g7 power phone's wifi

Hello everyone!
I have a Motorola g7 power xt1955-4 reteu2.
In the last two months, I got an issue with my wifi connectivity. My phone is Connected to the hotspot of another smartphone. And it frequently disconnects from wifi. It works after I turn off and then turn back on the wifi.
But I have to do this each time.
I uploaded two screenshots, to see how my wifi menu looks like.
I did a network reset.
I uploaded two bugreports.
And the issue is the same on motorola g7 power.
Besides, I connected to my hotspot another device (a computer with wifi usb), alongside motorola g7. When my motorola wifi got disconnected again, the wifi icon from my computer showed no problem.
I also connected another phone to that hotspot. The wifi remained connected while motorola's wifi got disconnected.
Which means the issue is only at motorola wifi, not the hotspot.
As I remember, it only has this issue since the last update.
Besides the wifi issue, I remember that two times my phone stopped responding and I needed to restart it.
It is updated to the last version, I think.
I have build number QPOS30.52-29-7-5
I turned off the constantly scanning for wifi and bluetooth devices, but the issue is the same.
What would you suggest?
Thanks in advance for your answer.
