i am in the same predicament, someone, anyone, please
Hi, please say the process you used to downgrade. Did you use motoboot? Gpt? Did you go to 4.4.4 gpe? It's necessary to know this stuff in order to help you. It's most probably fixable.
---------- Post added at 12:25 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:24 AM ----------
And by the way, that warning screen is called the boot logo
---------- Post added at 12:30 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:25 AM ----------
And if you're able to upgrade back to 5.0.1 gpe, i can tell you how to downgrade. Disclaimer: I'm not responsible for anything that happens from listening to my advice.
first of all, it would be quite helpful to know which version of moto g are you using, are you using the dual sim type? if yes, and you just want your moto g up and running, this this guide might be useful.
i've had unsuccessfull downgrade from lollipop to kitkat, probably since the partition is not the same. If the non-locking method doesn't work, you can always try to lock the device again per the instruction on that guide, and this time, with relocking the bootloader, this has saved my skin more than i would like to count.

I am using xt1032 us retail.the method I used is this YouTube video (link).I can got to 5.0.1 gpe and I want to relock my boot loader because I cracked my screen yesterday in a hurry and service center in here does not accept gpe phone. So help.
I converted my xt1032 from retail to GPE. To go back, I was able to flash back to retail using fastboot commands. Make sure you flash gtp.bin and skip motoboot.img.

I personally used the method in the 2nd post. Just be careful, no one's taking responsibility for a bricked phone in the process.
And you might want to flash stock logo.bin before locking bootloader in case locking doesn't help.

Hello, has anybody that owns a Moto G XT1028 (U.S Verizon) gotten the Android Lollipop update yet? I'm in need to know becuase i want to purchase a Moto G for Dev purposes but i would like it to be running Android Lollipop after purchase and checking for system updates. Btw im purchasing it 06/22/15. Please post screenshots if you have them.
If you do own one that has Lollipop could you please make a quick review, including the following topics.
- Battery life
- Preformance
- Any bugs
I would greatly appreciate it.
I was wondering the same thing ... I own a Moto G XT1028 (Verizon) but im still on Android 4.4.4 KitKat. I constiently check for updates almost daily. If i don't recieve the Android Lollipop update within the next 14 days, I'm: rooting, unlocking the botloader, installing a custom recovery and putting Cm12 on it. I originally didn't want to do that for warranty and safety reasons but i feel the need to have Lollipop. The update is way over due ...
There is no Lollipop firmware for the XT1028.

Motorola has been saying that since Lollipop came out in November of last year. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for it if I were you.

I rooted my xt1028 over a year ago after paying a "chinese middleman" $45 for a bootloader unlock code. Since then I have installed soooooooooo many roms, first Kitkat and then Lollipop. I must say that imo stock 4.4.4 Kitkat is better than anything else you can install on the xt1028. Every rom out there has one bug or another and even though you can do more customization with non-stock roms, it seems to be at the expense of better performance and battery life with stock. As for lollipop, I ran a lot of lollipop roms and I do not like it. Too many kiddie colors and childish building block icons. Google acts as if they are making their operating system for a bunch of kindergartners.
Oh, and other than paying someone for an unlock code, you can forget rooting the xt1028 or unlocking its' bootloader because Verizon has the phone on total lockdown.
Verizon can have my x1028 junk ass phone and I am going to get something else and straightalk..
still holding out hope that Verizon will push out an update. they just updated the first gen Moto X to Lollipop, so perhaps the Moto G is next in line...
How you unlock the bootloader in the xt1028,I can't unlocked, funking verizon

Unfortunately, my wife is in a quite sticky situation. Verizon locked the device so it can't be activated, but that's not really the problem... We can't figure out how to bypass the Setup Guide (all the old ways are now patched). Can't use it until that's figured out.

I confirm my XT1028, also adopted the Android 5.1
Just got mine. Maybe the root community can crack this one. Maybe a better chance on rooting this version.
The same here

Hoping for a solution as well, as I only use the device on WiFi.
I suppose I'll hold off on installing the update, for now.
can anyone with a bootloader unlocked XT1028 pull the 5.1 partitions and post them? or has anyone seen the stock partitions for 5.1 anywhere?
as for those stuck at the setup guide... was data wiped causing you to have to set the device up? or does it force the setup guide either way?
hopefully someone can post the images so I can get my device out of fastboot mode and poke around

There's someone reporting on Reddit that he got past it by deleting the cache repeatedly in recovery mode. I might go ahead and update, just for the heck of it.
http://www.reddit.com/r/motog/comme..._update_notification_on_xt1028verizon/cx03pe5
UPDATE: I updated, and everything works great! I didn't have to set up the device, it just carried over everything with the new look. I have no idea why anyone would be stuck at the activation screen, when I didn't even have to set it up again...weird

The reason I'm stuck at Setup is because after the update we factory reset (it updated just fine, just wanted a 'fresh' start)

Okay so I got a g920F on swappa.com and its on 5.1.1. Rooted and twrp 2.8.7.1 or whatever the current is.....anyways is there a way to downgrade to 5.0.2? I know on the g920P there is not so not sure if that's the case here as well.
My 2nd question is, is there a way to upgrade to marshmallow without a pc? I don't own a pc and can't access one on anyway and I'd really like to try mm.
3rd to last question is this: is there a mobile odin like tool I can use or could flashfire be used on the s6 like on the s5? If memory serves me, I used flashfire back when the s6 came out but I could be mistaken.
Final question....does anyone have the 5.1.1 stock firmware for the G920F? I believe mine is the tbu version of whatever the version for UK is....not sure how to check. Or a stock rom I can flash to recieve the mm update. Please n thanks.

Here are the firmwares for your device:
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-G930R4/
Just download the latest version.
Now, to install/flash the firmware here are the instructions on this page
To flash just follow the instructions on the first page, there is no need for you to change the home_csc, just follow the instructions carefully.
(Basically everything above "*** You can always find the LATEST firmware in msg #2".
If anything else arises just reply to this thread, hope it works out!:good:

I have a G Stylo that won't boot up at all when I connect it to the pc it detects it but doesn't recognize it I've installed drivers for the phone already. I was trying to flash 5.1.1 firmware via LG flash tool from 6.0 (downgrading). Is there a fix for this? LG bridge doesn't see the device either.
If you have a boost of VirginM http://lg-firmware-rom.com/download...mware-ls770zv9-lg-up-dll-for-ls770-and-lg-up/

Yea we have metro we just brought it back to them
appears a bunch of us did the same thing with sytlo (downgrade roms) and bricked. LG fixed mine because was under warranty and did with their tool, but noticed they pulled the roms off their site.

the partitions were changed between the 5.1.1 and 6.0 Marshmallow. It was done in the 10j version of the ROM. Think that is what bricked us
If you put it in your computer, in Device Manager do you see something about Qualcomm 9008 mode under Ports?
These are the whole firmwares to be flashed independently. No need to do 7 before 711.
Anyone that uses this to upgrade the Chinese phone to Nougat please post how you did it. There are many waiting for a solution.
I copied the whole Mac directory for 711. There are many support files there and a backup & restore apk which will not work stand-alone.
From Mac upgrade assistant.
I zipped the folder from: User/library/application support/.msu/addison_verizon_oem_vzw_user_7.0_NDNS25.137-24-1-4_4_release-keys-cid2_vzw
March patch.
BTW it updates without any data wipe or option to data wipe if you wanted to! Via the assistant that is.
Unlike Moto's recommendations, go figure...
BTW, BTW
Anyone know if apps can be extracted from a FXZ?
I only used this from the upgrade assistant and it did not wipe any user data.
There were some fastboot files (and such) in the .msu folder but when I went back later to show hidden files on wifes El Capitan msu was gone. I was at risk of great peril messing with wifes Mac. My Lion will not run it.
How it it working for everyone?
Request,
Could some kind soul upload Nougat apps (and privapps) from a Z and Z force?
I use them as fake apps in the Play, a way of disabling sys apps.
Root is not needed, more if you need help

Hi, I have a XT1635-03 on retcn channel, my device is encrypted, I have the dual sim version it runs on android 6.0.1, I've never rooted it and I'm not planning to... I have a few questions and I would be very thankful if you could answer them:
1)do you have the dual sim version? do both sims work fine after the update?
2)did you flash the rom straight from 6.0.1?
3)are there any issues like with camera, notification sound, swipe to shrink screen,...?
4)why do you suggest for the Chinese version users to flash a stock based custom rom with TWRP? it doesn't give you update capability or factory reset option!
5)is there a specific way to unlock the bootloader "officially"?
6)what's with the bat file you talked about? (sorry I'm kind of a noob)
7)the link you mentioned doesn't have the 7.1.1 version... isn't it better to flash the rom provided on this thread?
I'm sorry to ask this many questions... thanks in advance

thanks so much for the help...
so if I flash the rom from this thread and try to update it later, I'll probably have risk of a hard brick, is that correct?
I only prefer this rom compared to one you mentioned because this one here is "stock", it's more reliable, and I don't need to install TWRP... so considering these, tell me if it's still better for me to flash the stock based custom rom from "flashallthtime" (the one you mentioned)
