Which system app can be removed from cm11? Apps that if will be removed won't make the phone unstable. I mean apps like talkback and stock live wallpapers, play's apps (Moovie, books, etc).

if you're rooted just flash cm11 and minimal gapps from pa. Anything cm11s has you can reinstall as an app

dont think you really thinking this through properly. The time taken to honestly reflash a rom is way faster than removing apps believe me. Also in stock you have to remove two files since its odex file system.
Now with that said you could of just google searched safe apps to remove from system and be done with it but believe me all this back and forth is longer than just downloading pico gapps from pa booting into recovery simply wipe /system and then reflash rom and gapps.... But dont believe me I have only been doing this for like 8 years now...

Camera is part of the Gallery apk. If you don't have a camera icon in your app drawer, try reflashing ROM and Gapps. If still not there, you might have to wipe and reflash (hopefully you wiped between CM9 and CM10).
ok i just flashed the newest CM10 rom
( wiped first ) ...
then flashed the included boot.img
and i still dont have the camera app
are u sure this rom even has a camera app ??
EDIT:
come to think of it
i might have flashed cm10 over cm9 without wiping ... hmm

I'm not sure how you managed that twice. When you say you wiped did you do a factory reset also through recovery? Factory reset wipe cache then wipe the dalvik cache then install the ROM. As fas as I know all cm10 builds for our device have a camera. Also if your taking pictures with a camera from the market what do you view them in since you don't have a gallery either?

ok this is what i did tell me if there is something wrong here
running cm10
wiped - cache - davilik etc (through recovery)
flashed img
flashed rom
flashed gapps
taking pics with a separate app can be viewed in gallery
still same issue no default camera
This is not a ROM problem. You need to do a full wipe between ROMs, not just cache.

have you tried a fresh download of the rom?
cm10 has a camera app. has to be a bad download or bad flash.
If you have a gallery, you have a camera. The camera is built into the gallery in JB.

Sorry dude, we're all tapped out. Pretty sure you're the only one experiencing this, so you're going to have to find a solution on your own. In the meantime, try some Market camera apps...many are better than stock anyways. You can also find the MIUI app in the themes section which is pretty good.

Ive just installed Cleanrom, and it seems slower than the stock rom i used before.
I wonder if i should have done a system format in cwm, as doing this for Slimbean on my SGS helped quite a bit...
thanks

Format system is when you delete your ROM, if you want a clean install, yeah you should format system. This also depends on what ROM you want to flash. If you're going to flash stock, format system is good. I do it all the time when I flash stock
But I can also do it whatever the rom, right ? I mean if I upgrade from Cleanrom from 3.03 to 3.04, I cannot go wrong doing that ? (although they don't talk about formatting system in the guidelines).
Thank you

format system basically deletes all your system apps, which really isn't worth to do in an update from v3.0.3 to 3.0.4 - if it's a big update with many more apps included maybe it's worth, but otherways it's waste of time...

System app? When I use twrp it said wipe system removes ROM, I guess on cwm is called format system.
Well, I guess "format system" should format system (=wipe the os i guess), not remove apps...

Guess so, I guess its no problem to overwrite CWM with TWRP (as long as I load the right version, that is, JB as im on Cleanrom Inheritance 2.7.2)...
Format system on twrp and cwm means the same thing.
When you flash any ROM, all it does is place everything in the /system partition, and sometimes a kernel is also flashed.. this partition contains all files that make up android. All the apps that come with roms, all mods, themes, framework.. everything is here.
When /system is wiped, it deletes all these files to make way for a new rom. Most roms wipe system automatically when they get flashed anyway :good:
However, I think that cleanrom 3.0.3 is a dependancy for 3.0.4, this means that 3.0.4 requires the 3.0.3 system files to work properly. Check the cleanrom changelog or install instructions

I'm sorry, I was thinking of /system/app lol
I think the updates should rule that themselves that they delete the unnecessary things of an old version, so it's only recommended if you change your ROM or update to a ROM based on a later Android Version (4.1 to 4.2 or vice versa) or from AOSP to stock...
Otherwise it's just waste of time I think, I never used it and never had problems, so I think it's pretty good ruled in the updater scripts of the ROMs
Anyone have a link to a flashable zip that removes bloatware, that will work in 4.3 AOSP ROM's?
I can't seem to get my old one to work anymore. Maybe because it was for 4.1?

JUst use Titanium backup and freeze any apps you don;t want to use. Really not worth the effort. Unused app really don;t bother anything.

Ehh, freezing or uninstalling apps via Titanium takes a LOT longer than just flashing a removal zip. Especially when you're uninstalling about 20-30 apks like I do.
I flash a lot, and not just my phone but my friends as well.
So this method saves me a lot of time:
1) Flash ROM
2) Flash Gapps
3) Flash Bloatkiller
4) Reboot
5) Flash Titanium Backup batch zip of all apps/data
Anyways, I don't need a bloat zip anymore. I couldn't get my old script to work, so I just added all my delete lines to an existing Gapps zip. Which removes step #3 above.
So it flashes my Gapps and removes bloat, all in one zip. Should have just done it this way to begin with! :good:
And OMG I save sooooo much time & frustration by doing things this way.
Now if I can just figure out how to get the TB batch zip to flash immediately after flashing the ROM, then I can use TWRP queue flash to flash all three zips back-to-back with just one swipe.
Hey,
Couldn't find any info regarding this issue.
I have CM11 installed on my nexus 5, and each time I update the version (nightly) it removes the Trebutchet launcher.
This is pretty frustrating seeing as each time I need to re-install the launcher and re-organize all my desktop setup.
CM11 with PA full G-apps - did full wipe before rom and g-apps installation.
*I would ask on the official CM11 nightly thread, though it seems i have insufficient permissions.

stop wiping.
all you are doing is updating, theres no need to wipe. every time you wipe data, you lose your setup. just flash the new rom over the older rom(and gapps) and your launcher will stay.

I guess my explanation wasn't good enough, i'll explain again.
I don't re-wipe every time, I only wiped the first time before installing CM11 for the first time.
Since then I updated (nightly versions) twice by simply flashing and both times they removed my Trebutchet launcher.

Thanks but I like the "close to vanilla" launcher with little customization options it offers.
And regardless of backup or not, I still don't understand why anything should be removed when I update - same rom both kitkat, only new nightly - boom stuff removed.

Isn't Trebuchet just branched from Google Now Launcher? It doesn't have it either unless you use the Xposed module.

since you are new to the forum may I suggest you look in all sub forums because there is a fix zip in Apps section for what you are asking to be increased. Prior to posting though you should simply search all over. Also take some time and explore the forum especially now since its early and not to cluttered.
As far as troubleshooting I think you may need to simply try a clean install again. Did you install your apps via Play Store or did you use Titanium. You can go into recovery and wipe cache(s)

what gapps did you to flash the AOSP rom? I use minimal gapps all the time to allow my apps to be restored via PlayStore plus I dont like all that bloatware. Do you use and exchange email? I normally delete that from my system.
You can always wipe cache(s) download a new gapps then wipe cache, dalvik and system(only) and reflash rom and gapps again. NO loss of apps will occur

Flappy's AOSP rom came with gapps pre-installed, rom instructions said to specifically NOT install gapps separately. I agree with you, I prefer minimal and less bloat. I wanted a clean AOSP rom to throw Gravitybox on, as this is what I'm used to coming from the Nexus world.
I don't use Exchange, but have disabled the built-in EMAIL app - would that cause problems? Is it easy to delete Exchange?
Ok, thanks for the tip - I'll try the reflash if the problem continues.

I'm fairly certain Xposed is ok - been using it for ages on my previous phones. I think I may have found the issue, though - I noticed I was getting FC's mostly when I was typing. Flappy's ROM came with the CM keyboard, and I installed the standard AOSP Google keyboard over top, but it was still using the default spell-checker from the CM keyboard. In settings->input, I changed it to the Google Keyboard AND the Google spell-checker and haven't got a typing-related FC since. Maybe there was some incompatibility between the CM spell checker and the Google keyboard. Anyway, thought I'd mention it, in case it helps others..
Thanks!
