m8 + CM12 nightly = setup wizard loop - Verizon HTC One (M8)

I have installed more than one CM12 nightly on my m8 and I get to the point where I put in my Google account credentials and the setup wizard crashes. I then start over and it crashes at the same point. Has anyone seen this before? I have tried every version that is still available on the download page and they all do the same thing.

Can you skip adding your Google acct without the crash?

It's possible that the nightly build is broken - have you tried any other builds? Also, did you remember to install gapps as well?

the setup wizard is part of gapps so that's part of the problem.
I solved it by installing the CM11 milestone and setting it up then installing the Cm12 nightly. That bypassed the hokey CM12 setup wizard. I led myself out of the woods!

[Q] CM7.2.0 Question

I'm wondering about the CM7.2.0 nightly KANG builds, unlike some of the prebuilt versions of CM7 for this device, do these builds have access to setting up google accounts?
I had tried a build before, but could not use the market because I did not have an account set up, yet under the settings menu, there was no way to set up a google account.
The build(s) I am referring to are found here.
Thanks,
FlyingIsFun1217
did you install gapps
You need to install GAPPS.
The link it right underneath the latest build.
You flash GAPPS after you flash CM7.
That brings up another strange problem I've never had before (that I've only see occur when I had flashed a previous version of this rom).
When I boot into recovery (at least in the previous build posted) and attempted to install the .zip like any other one I would, it would not be listed. CWM Recovery acted like it was not there at all, it completely ignored it. Is this something anyone else has dealt with?
Thanks again

--EDIT--
And just so we're on the same page, that was after an initial download, and a re-download of the GAPPS file, so it wasn't a corrupt download (unless the file indeed was corrupt and hosted as such).
Alright, to adress the semi-old message, I did flash the newer version of the ROM, and it seemed to work, must have had a bad flash before.
Anyway, new problem that I'm not going to bother dealing with (I've already gone to the ZEUS ROM), is that every version of CM I try for the Infuse, seems to go to a crawl with web browsing. And yes, I've tried the APN fix. I think it's something to do with whatever version of a wifi driver the phone uses on CM.

Gapps question Cyanogen 9

I loaded Cyanogen 9 with the gapps package on the development forum, and now the connection icon keeps coming up gray and not connecting to Google talk. Anyone else have this issue? I thought maybe it was my carrier but it happens over wifi too.
gmail
It also seems like gmail isn't auto updating but i can refresh manually and it updated.
What gapps are you using? I tried v11 from the CM9 thread and everything works fine.
Can you link me? The version isn't listed on the package i downloaded. Can I flash over the current package?
Mmm. looks like v11 has been removed with this? http://goo.gl/iOdJO
that's gapps from 2/24. What version are you using right now?
That is what I had loaded that caused an issue. My friend sent another package and now everything but google talk is working. Odd.

[Q] Errors after updating CM12 nightly (cm-12-20150301-NIGHTLY-taoshan)

Hi,
I had CM11 latest nightly when i received CM12 nightly. I downloaded and updated my phone from within CM11.
Now, I and receiving "Unfortunately, ... has stopped [Report] [OK] " error constantly on Email, Google Play and different services.
Please suggest something to get me out of this.
Probably because you dirty flashed it. Try it with clean install. And download gapps for 5.0.2

Ah, I posted about this not too long ago, and it seems no one read my guide. I faced the same issue you did, and by this method mentioned in my guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-l/general/guide-to-running-android-lollipop-t3041413 I got through it.

Issues with latest CM nightly

HI,
i've installed the latest nightly (cm-12.1-20160822-NIGHTLY-xt925) for the xt925 and gapps. It was running fine so far but after a while it starts crashing during boot or "optimizing apps" and it starts over again. This happens usually after installing updates from the playstore. My guess is that streetcomplete or mapillary might cause this issue (not sure the clock app crashed often too).
So my question is, has anyone else issues with the latest nightly and found a fix?
Are there any other ROMS available? I couldn't find a lineageos Rom.
I am able to reinstall and i think it will work again buts that no solution if i can't update apps.
I'm not sure which bootloader it currently uses. It has the cyanogenmod recovery installed and wiping Cache didn't resolve the issue.
Thx

For some reason all the official nightlies i have tried have this issue, some cant even make it past the setup screen. I guess something bad ended up in the sources.
Its not maintained anymore for our devices but one of the best CM12 builds in my experience was Mokee OS. You can run the builds for the Photon Q (xt897) just make sure its the old one- i recall having issues with the more recent builds.
Personally though i have moved on to the Nougat builds. I'm currently running the builds for the xt907 and they work fine with my xt926. The crDroid build seems to be the most stable - https://forum.xda-developers.com/dr.../crdroid-3-8-nougat-xt907-xt905-jbbl-t3697571 The only requirements are you must be running the JBBL and the TWRP version for the XT907 (its linked in the ROMs thread instructions). You also need to format your data and cache partitions as F2FS.
