[Q] flashed an other nexus 5' EFS backup. no 3G/4G network no IMEI - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone.
This is the first time I publish in this forum, so apologise my beginner's manneer
I did a big mistake, when I bought my new Nexus 5, I wanted to restore all data from a backup I made on my older nexus 5 via TWRP custom recovery, and unfortunately i checked the EFS case, this caused my IMEI lose, & at the beginning, I had no network signal until I set up this one on Only EDGE. Now i have just no 3G & 4G network. This is so bad with a NEW purchased phone hope it will be an issue for this.
I tried flashing back to stock, everything failed, no IMEI (0) & NO 3G/4G.
Btw there's no Google/LG service in my country

Sorry man, but there's no way to get it back except to send it to LG.

There's not, unfortunately. You gotta send it in.

That's a harsh lesson to learn. I've made it a habit of backing up partitions separately for a few reasons including avoiding this situation. So easy to not pay attention at the wrong time.

[Q] How to get my Nexus S working ?

Hi, this is my first post
Last year I found a new Nexus S outside Undergroung (subway), when I got home I checked and it worked fine with my simcards (vodafone and t mobile) I but never used it really.
My phone is now broked and I tried to use this Nexus but any simcard I insert is now not working everything else is fine, wifi, apps etc. It just won't recognise any simcards.
When I try to make a call it says " mobile network not available".
I searched the forum but found nothing to solve the issue. I have taken it to my local repair shop and they couldn't help me. It has the ice cream sandwich android version 4.0.4.
Can anyone here help me with getting the sim to work ? : )
Did it have ICS when you found it? Also, what model is it? (I9020A, I9020T, I9023?)
It did not. I updated it.
Its I9023.
Any more info required?
How did you update it?
I'd try to flash the factory image with fastboot and see if simcards work.
Maybe it got reported lost so IMEI got disabled

Right, did you obtain the phone legally (purchase), or did you find the phone lying around and picked it up?

I found it last year as I said in the opening post.
Would they still do it ?
Try flashing it back to an earlier version like 2.3.6

If it was reported stolen, no, if anything they might report you for having a stolen device

Hand it in to the police. If no one claims it within some time frame, it's yours (at least true for uk)
Then if you do get to keep it, then you can ask your network to unblock the imei, and cite the police reference so they know it's legit

Do ths first: http://nexusshacks.com/nexus-s-root/how-to-root-nexus-s-or-nexus-s-4g-on-ics-or-gingerbread/
then using the recovery (power+volume up) flash the second one if your phone is i9023 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1572307 there you go, stock 2.3.6, rooted.
I do suggest you hand this to the police, for legal purposes only

Help. Lost all hope for this phone.

Hi, Ive had galaxy s3 for almost 4 months. with quite experience, with ROMs and Rooting and such. Ive used cm10, Synergy Rom and CLEAN rom. About 2 days ago, I flashed MIUI rom and all of the sudden, I lost my signal and went into roaming.I wish I backed up. I tried to repair my IMEI and ERI by using this using this tool, ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1867442 ) and. only problem was it wasnt broken ERI or lost IMEI. So i decided to odin back to stock and call *2767*3855#. It goes stright to verizon message or tech support. and so i thought my SIM was fried, about 3 hours ago i went to Verizon retail and replaced the sim. Still nothing. And they said they cant help me. I have no warrenty or anything as well.
Any help with is greatly appreciated. Thank you

Read this on another forum regarding this issue for MIUI for the Verizon GS3:
"In CDMA subscription, NV was selected, so I clicked UIM and gave it a reboot.and I had data. So decided to flash miui again right now and NV was selected again. UIM and reboot.and I have data."
Perhaps this is your issue as well. No harm in checking, I guess.
MIUI and the horror stories. I hope you get it squared away.

[Q] Flashing a factory image after IMEI repair... will it restore the original imei?

Hey guys ...
I really need some help here...
so... I changed the IMEI on my nexus 5, that required an unlocked bootloader and a root... now I want to relock the bootloader and flash the stock image...
my question is:
Will the imei in my phone is going to be restored to the original phone imei? or can I still have the new imei after relocking and flashing the stock image
thank you
How and why did you change your imei?
Sent from my Nexus 5

BTW, flashing factory images won't have any effect on IMEI..

The Nexus 5 is carrier unlocked and it should work all over the world(except 4g LTE ). Not sure why yours didn't!

the mobile carriers in turkey let you use your phone for 2 weeks ... if you bought your phone from outside of turkey... to make you buy a phone from them instead of buying it from other countries
and it costs me 35$
so... back to my question (vin4yak) are you sure about that? cuz I don't want to pay 35$ again
Ok well changing IMEI is illegal in most countries so it cannot be discussed here.

Technically it shouldn't... The factory images don't touch the /efs partition which contains the IMEI... But since it's been changed illegally, there's no way to know "how" it was actually changed.

I don't think they changed anything, just maybe allowed that IMEI within the networks.
Changing IMEI is illegal in many countries therefore cannot be discussed on XDA
So please do not speculate on or discuss the process

64 gb motherboard on originally 32gb galaxy s6 920f

hy guys,
cause my s6 motherboard is gone by an "i don't know what happened", during a normal wipe data from twrp 3.0.2-0 i don't know how my s6 don't turn on anymore. dead completely. a friend send me an efs backup from his s6, i've flashed that and my s6 has turned on. the only BIG matter is the imei, that don't work for nothing the ril. i've done a billion things to try to let my s6 working, but it doesn't. so i will know if possible replace my mainboard with an 64 gb version, and if there is things to know-modify ecc, because i've found in ebay an 64 gb mainboard for g920f, and i've started thinking thank you!!

the new motherboard comes with a different imei. he just needs to register the new imei on his account. To prove ownership he may have to show proof of ownership.
Did it work after you replace it? I was thinking to do it on mine as well.
