[Q] OnePlus One not booting after failed update - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I tried to install the new OTA, and it failed. I don't know exactly why, but it did. Now my phone won't boot. Next thing I know, it's completely out of battery, and won't charge up at all, it just loops around a blank screen and the screen that tells you that the phone is charging before it'll power on. This message disappears after three seconds, leaving the blank screen. If I unplug the charger, I can't power on, enter recovery or fastboot, nothing. Is there any way I could force it into fastboot?
I do know a little about using adb stuff in cmd, so that won't phase me, I'm just worried about my phone. Can anyone help?

Just leave the phone on charge for a few hours, don't touch it in that time, and then try turning it on again.

I use google translator
look up adb reboot sometimes it happens, just start it through adb

Try taking out the battery,sd card, and sim card.
Leave for 20 minutes, then put back the battery only, and try again.

i have a similar problem! i'm using previously VirtuouseRom since Jan 2012 without problems. Now i have tired aokp b32 rom to install. After reboot, the phone was starting perfect and boot to aokp. In the next step i make a manual restart. The phone was shut down normaly, but no power on and no restart it.
Since this i can't power on my phone. The battery is full, but i try also a another battery. No reaction with power adapter and usb.

Code:
fastboot reboot
I had the same issue once. Luckily, I have a stand alone battery charger. I put the battery on the charger for 15 minutes, put it back in the phone and all was good...
I think there are separate problems here...if the phone is detected by computer when plugged in...then it's still salvageable since you can probably run adb?
However, mine was unresponsive completely....nothing worked. Sent back for repair...going to see what HTC says about the warranty!
This once happened to a friend of mine. Charge your phone for 20 minutes. If you're using a Sense ROM, disable fast boot in Settings>Power. Fastboot doesn't actually power off your device, just puts it into sleep, like in Windows. This means the battery drains, even while it's "off".

[Q] Random rebooting does not stop

Hi
This is a well known issue with the nexus 5. My device permanently starts rebooting. The google Logo occurs and then it rebotos again. There is no start animation. If I press the power and volume down bottom I just see the bootloader screen and after half a second it reboots. I can't do anything.
My phone is rooted (no custom ROM) and before I go back to the shop I want to unroot it. However, with this behaviour I'm not able to do it, or is there any chance? Does someone know at least, how I can boot normaly to unroot it.
thanks for your help

Hello, take a look at this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2513701
Is this really a well known issue? What were you doing directly beforehand? What have you tried to do to fix it? Have you tried using fastboot commands to reload factory images? Are you a toolkit only user? Have you tried a factory image through that?

Well IMHO it is a well known issue (see for example the wikipedia page or just have a look in tech forums). Directly before, I was writing an SMS and put it in my pocket (everything seems fine at that moment). 10 minutes later I just want to check my SMS and then it was already rebooting all the time. This was not the first time, I had this issue 2 todays before, but after approximatley 20 reboots it started correctly.
So far I was not able to use fastboot commands, since I can't enter fastboot. I didn't use a toolkit.

Use this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2513701
Or you can use this toolkit (some people are not fans of these but I am):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2525026
I have never heard of the issue where it was only rooted and it just randomly decides to reboot and keeps doing it for no reason at all without the user flashing something that it did not like. So are you saying that you cannot even turn the phone off it just keeps going into a bootloop and trying to enter fastboot does nothing?
I don't think this is a really well known issue.. Have not seen to many support threads about this.

If the wall charger is plugged into the phone, the nexus just starts rebooting. I see the white Google logo and after one or two seconds it reboots. Sometimes you see the boot animation (4 circles) but after a short time it restarts the phone not able get to the point where you unlock the SIM. Trying to get into fastboot mode is also not possible. The fastboot mode appears but after half a second the phone reboots again. If the nexus is not connected to a charger it repeats rebooting for about four times after that just a black screen appears. If I'm not able to get into fastboot mode I can't unroot the phone, right? So the links you shared are not useful in my case
I have the nexus now over a week and the phone worked perfectly fine the first week.
I have uploaded two films of the problem to youtube, see this link. One film is with the nexus plugged into the chrager and one where it isn't.
That is very strange.
I would definitely use Madpiercing's post and link to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2521691&page=3 to try and fix it.

The very strange thing is, that it worked well over a week. the random rebooting starts two days ago, first time it starts again correctly after 5 min. Now it seems to hang in a loop.

After a while I was able to get into the fastboot mode: I plugged my nexus into the wall charger for about 1 hour. Then it booted correctly. I had plugged my nexus into the charger before (over night) without leading to the same result. It seems that it just starts working correctly as random as it crashes
Do you think it is a bug in the bootloader or that something happened while to rooting the phone?

It's most likely a hardware issue, bad cache memory on the cpu. I'd rma it.

Nexus 5 Stuck at Google Loading Screen (Picture attached)

Hi.
This phone was working perfectly and I left it to go away to another country so it must have discharged it's battery.
When I got back it would not turn on. Even after charging for a day, it will not turn on.
When I have the charging cable connected, it goes to Google Logo Screen and it loops (restarts over and over again)
There is no error message.
Picture is attached so please let me know what to do. It was a gift so no receipt to claim warranty.
Thanks for any help in advance.

Try booting into stock recovery and clearing cache, reboot.
If that doesn't work then you'll have to unlock the bootloader (which wipes data) and try flashing the factory images. A guide for that can be found in the first link of my signature.

I just tested and I am not able to get into recovery more...I am not sure what that mean. Should I connect Nexus to computer and see if it's recognized by computer and try to reload stock ROM?
Phone was never unlocked or flashed...it was in the same state as it was bought.
Can this be hardware problem? I saw some reports of similar thing happening with power button problem or other hardware problems.

did you go into the bootloader, choose recovery, and it went to an android laying on its back?
This is the weirdest things...Spent days and days trying to bring it back to life and it would just reboot after GOOGLE logo. There was no way to get into recovery more.
I was looking around and someone said that tapping hard behind the power button with finger might bring it back and it did...so crazy. No matter what, I am a happy camper.
If you have tried everything, just try it...it behind power button and it might wake up the android that's been sleeping.

Can u explain how did u do that .what do u mean by behind the power button
I have the option to buy this device from a guy who has this problem and i have said to him to try the tips but not working. Computer does not see the device yet and thats logic since it just goes for 2-3 sec in bootloader he told me. Is this the power buttion failure or can it be fixed with nexus toolkit?
Price is €50 because of that and little damaged glass but i doubt if i can let it boot normal again.

[Q] Phone not turning on after update

So I got the one for more than 6 months now. I have already the ghost touch, when the weather gets hot, the phone goes nuts!
But that's not the problem I'm trying to solve now. Today i was on CyanogenOS and decided to go back to cm11-38R, then flash 44R and etc. Re-do the steps I did one time that solved my screen problems for a long period of time. I downloaded the rooted 38R cm11 zip and installed/flashed and did a factory reset. All good until this.
But then the phone showed the 44S update. I downloaded it and clicked install. The recovery(clockworkmod) started, everything seemed allright. But then My phone died. No Cyanogen logo, no OnePlus logo, no nothing. Even when I connect it to the charger, no nothing, not even the charging led turn on. The only response I get that the phone is kinda of alive, is when I press the Power button for 10s, it vibrates but that's it, nothing else. Can anyone please help me? I guess my phone is bricked! LOL

Sir. Thank you very much! It worked perfectly, even using an windows 8 machine.

OPO keeps turning off unless connected via USB

Hi, 2 days ago my OPO just keeps turning off after a few seconds even when I'm in twrp screen. Even with the wall charger connected, but if I connect it to a computer or any other system it just works fine and normal.
I have lineage 14.1 and I already try factory reset, OS clean installation again and with previous versions. With gapps or without gapps still turning off. Very strange. Can anybody help? I don't know what to do.

Is there a way to test the battery? Last week the phone works just fine and the battery lasts the entire day. I just trying to understand what happened. Thanks again, and sorry for my bad english.

Yes,you can order Usb tester and try it,but instead of wasting time over this, just buy a new battery(look up battery thread in accessories for suggestions).
I think this just happen to me.
If not connecting to charger :
-Rebooting itself when flashing rom
-Bootloop after a few second when using the phone (All rom, even after revert back to COS 13)
-Somehow, it not bootlooping if on fastboot.
If connected to charger :
-Phone working as normally.
