[Q] Why some .so files cannot be copied to lib folder? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
I'm using stock android 5.0.1 on my nexus 5. I found an article about installing HTC one M8 camera on nexus5.
"nexus5.wonderhowto.com/how-to/get-htc-one-m8s-camera-app-your-nexus-0160134/"
I tried to flash 2 zip files into the rom using TWRP. TWRP says successful. but nothing happens. (it works on CM12).
I looked at /system/lib folder and realized that some of .so files are not there. then tried to copy them using root explorer but I get error that files cannot be copied. (there are no problems about being root or write permission ...) .
So I'm wondering what is going on here. any ideas?

[Q] Problem in installing my custom rom made through android kitchen

I am getting and error when flashing my custom rom which i made through android kitchen. i am a beginner to this.
Error is like:
Error in update.zip
(status 0)
Installation aborted
Can anyone help me on this?
I'm not 100% sure, but I have a feeling that may be related to an incorrect update-binary in the ZIP. Try downloading another Explorer ROM and copying the update-binary from it into your ZIP, replacing the one that's there already. It's located like this within the ZIP: META-INF/com/google/android/update-binary
EDIT: You don't have to download a full ROM btw, any recovery flashable ZIP should do, e.g. one of the custom kernels such as Cranium (smaller download than a full ROM)
Thanks

There is a problem, i use my htc explorer for calling and other works, so whenever i want to check my rom, i have make nandroid backup which takes 15-20 minutes bcoz of lots of apps installed. and after checking the rom i need to restore my previous system which is very time consuming. Is there any other way to check the rom working or not without using it in my explorer, maybe using an emulator in windows 7? if there is an easy way then pls help me on this.
Let me explain you clearly what i am doing.
1. I extraced rom.zip file from HTC Explorer RUU.
2. I placed it in original_update folder in android kitchen.
3. I set up a working folder from android kitchen menu and i got these files and folders in WORKING folder
boot.img
system
META-INF
4. I selected the option 99 in kitchen menu that is Building a ROM.
5. After successful completion i got a zip file in OUTPUT folder.
6.Then, i copied that update.zip file from OUTPUT folder to my sd card.
7. Now, i boot into recovery, and try to install zip from sd card but it shows an error like this
Error in sd-card/update.zip
(Status 0)
Installation Aborted.
Now i dont understand why it is giving me an error even i have not touched any file from the working folder.
am i doing it wrong? pls help me.

I have no idea what you're doing wrong. But I don't think you have tried my suggestion from earlier in the thread.
Take the final update.zip file you have (the one you put on the SD card and try to install), and open it using an archive manager such as 7zip. Navigate into META-INF/com/google/android and delete the file "update-binary" that is located there. Then replace it with this one: http://d.pr/f/VHF1
Close 7zip, copy the ZIP to your SD card and try to install it in recovery.

No. And you can't emulate real hardware on emulators.

Well, 7 > 0, therefore it's better
In all seriousness, I think this means it's probably getting further than before, but there's some other problem with the ROM. I don't know the various status error codes, I just recognized 0 as one I'd come across before. I'm afraid I can't be of any further assistance I don't think.

Solution:- One or some of the prerequisite requirement for the needed upgrade is missing or corrupted . So you may need to identify and replace that requirement for the installation to continue. Most likely could be due to wrong bootloader, wrong CWM, Wrong IMEI, Wrong Radio etc

If anyone know what to do please help. Maybe i should change my cwm but til now was no problem with my cwm. I have zte blade. Thx.ko
I think this is the error....
When you setup a working folder then change your updater-script to update script... ( search for the option to change it) if you want to make some changes in update-script Do so and then build your rom... the update-script will automatically be changed to updater-script .. now place the rom and flash.. If any problem feel free to ask

[Q] CM11 M12 Boot Animations Bug ?

I am running CM11 M12 on d2lte ... everytime I copy over a bootanimation.zip to the correct location the new boot animation does not display.
It only shows the words "android" and the letters light up back and forth until it is booted. I do not even have a bootanimation zip that contains that! I am seriously confused as I have wiped the dalvik and cache. this cm11 was a clean/full install wiping everything upon install of cm11 ... CAN ANYONE EXPLAIN THIS PLEASE ?
How are you copying over the .zip file? Are you doing it within the phone (via some kind of file manager)? Are you sure you've set the permissions on the copied file correctly?

Copying with File Manager Explorer (root enabled and system folders set to writeable) ... and i manually changed the permissions. I also tried using TWRP to set the permissions even though I do not believe it sets permissions in the /media folder. Ive used bootanimation zips a million times and NEVER have had a problem until now. I am seriously confused lol ... any ideas ?

[Solved] Cant copy .apk to system

Hey guys,
Im having issues copying apk files to the system/app folder, I have tried three different file managers(root browser, root explorer, file explorer). I mount system set it to r/w and when i try to copy or move the apk file i get operation failed/ cannot copy file. I tried copying the same apk (motogallery) to my nexus 7 (android 5.0) it worked fine. However with my nexus 5 its a no go. I'm running stock lollipop rom with root.
Thanks
edit: figured it out had to copy apk to priv-app folder instead of system/app. Strange on the nexus 7 file was copied to system/app and worked just fine.

[Q] Need help with my root folder

I have rooted my P3113 and have clockwork mod recovery 6.0.2.7 because that one is the only one to work properly. also i have superuser (chainfire) installed. my su binary has been updated and i have flashed my ROM with cyanogenmod 10.1.3 stable. I should be able to copy and/or move files to the root folder. yet it says that it has read only permissions. i tried to chmod it to be able to write to it but the it errors and says read only file? is there any way to fix this? or a way to force it into the root folder?
What are you using the move/copy the files? Is it a file explorer app? Have you tried moving files using ADB?

[Completed] Moving Files into FlashAfterUpdate Marshmallow

My question is about putting the GApps and SuperSu zips into the FlashAfterUpdate folder. I've tried to copy the two zips into the folder using ES File Explorer but I get a 'This operation is not supported message'. The native Marshmallow explorer would let me copy the file but not paste it into the FlashAfterUpdate folder. Can you help me with the permissions? I also can't access the tablet via USB anymore, it's just blank, in case that was an option.
I am on a rooted Tab S that I have just flashed 6.0.1 onto.
Any help is appreciated.
