[Q] Tethering Hack on Stock? - Verizon HTC One (M8)

Hey there,
I recently picked up an M8. I'm S-OFF stock-rooted on 3.28.605.4 (Android 4.4.4) and I've been feverishly looking for a flashable zip or a quick mod that'll enable tethering on my M8. When I was on the M7 there was a simple flashable zip that enabled tethering. I'm not sure what the process is for the M8. Anyone have a thread link or can copy/paste the fix?
I've already tried using TitaniumBackup to freeze TetheringGuard but that didn't seem to do much.

4.3 TW tethering app?

Hello guys,
I updated to 4.3 TW, and rooted via the Saferoot method.
I was on 4.1.2 TW stock rooted, and was using the WiFi Tether - TreveE mod. On 4.3 however, my tether does not show as an available connection.
Just wondering if any of the members who have updated to 4.3 TW have found a working tether app.
Thank you.
I'm running a 4.4.2 beanstalk and the WiFi Tether- TrevE mod doesn't work either. Fails to start AP. Any fixes?

Currently just this WIFI TETHER ROUTER in the Playstore. If you wait, others may start to update to 4.3 like Foxfi etc...
I'm attempting to update to 4.3, but have had trouble doing so. I have done very little research into the new update (been pretty hectic lately), so it may be a blessing that I haven't yet.
Is there no way to tether as of right now on 4.3?

Update to 4.3, then root with saferoot, then install wifi tether router. The stock 4.3 is smooth, reliable and bug free...I'm glad I did it to my wife phone. For me I like to play around so...here I'm.
Thanks!

Foxfi = best purchase ever. Working on 4.3 and doesn't need root. The only problem I have is it requires pdanet on the pc for usb tethering.

will FoxFi ever work on the VZW HTC One (M8) or have they stopped trying?

First, this phone hasn't even been out 2 weeks yet, relax.
Second, this question should be directed to the developers of FoxFi.

I'm only wondering about FoxFix, having paid for it on all 5 of my current smartphones.

Damn, it cost individually per phone?
(The way it looks FoxFi is not supported on Android 4.4+ There are we possible solutions I've seen, but I can't verify any of them.)

I know this is an old thread but I need some info. I just got the M8 and it updated to 4.4.3 which I had found out before hand that FoxFi worked on that update. As soon as it finished updating to 4.4.3 it asked and I downloaded 4.4.4. I'm reluctant to install it until I find out it works. I've been without FoxFi too long since inadvertently upgrading a previous Motorola handset to 4.4.4. Just got it back with the M8 and don't want to lose it again.

Is your m8 rooted? If so enabling tethering is fairly easy.

Not rooted. I haven't rooted in years. Hated having to keep up with all the latest ROMs. FoxFi kind of eliminated my major need to root.

I didn't root anything until the folks at Google decided to restrict writing to ext SD cards. But, if you do there's a lot of info on enabling tethering.

4.4 upgrade manually

I have safestrap and rooted my vzw gs3. Though its a vzw phone, I am using it with ATT. I tried to get kitkat via OTA and it didn't work. Is there a way to manually install/flash 4.4 stock manually. Can someone email/point me to the file and instructions. Thanks in advance

Thanks. I had tried that link before I decided to post here. The link from rapidgator does not work. Any other place where I can get kitkat stock?

[Q] Possible to update to 3.28.401.6??

I see that there is a new update for the One M8, 3.28.401.6. It includes the new Eye camera features and updates the phone to 4.4.4. The OTA file is floating around; is it possible to update the Verizon One M8 using this file? Thanks!

You cannot use that on the Verizon m8. The only option for Verizon right now is a custom rom found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...ual-osverizon-m8-kk4-4-4-htc-sense-6-t2899603
You will have long boot times due to not having an updated firmware and may be some other bugs, but seams to be pretty good so far.
Thanks!! Looks like we have to wait a few months for big red to get it ready for us.

Things missing and not working in Lolipop Roms.....

So I recently got my LG G3 and love it. I immediately rooted and flashed a Lolipop rom. I am making this thread in hopes of figuring out a few features that I am missing or someone else has already discovered.
1. How do you get the long button press on the back button to kill apps (I have it enabled in developer console but it does nothing. Tried a few 3rd party apps too. Still nothing)
2. Has anyone created or modified the xposed framwork to work on lolipop yet?
3. Is there a way to have a hard button for the camera built into the rom? (Currently now I have a app that allows me to bind it. I have it set to double tapping the down button to open the camera)
Thanks,
Alan
Belongs in q&a section.... But anyways.
1. Unless there is a ROM that has it built in then no..I haven't seen it
2.No
3. No not that I've seen in lollipop.

Oh whoops sorry I should have posted there. Thanks for answering my questions. I am actually just about to download your kernel haha.
Can a moderator move this?

Are you rooted? Can you extract your modem for me?
just run in adb shell with su:dd if=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/modem of=/sdcard/modem.img
then post it out.
I'm on stock lollipop. No root... If you're having problems you may just want to flash back with the flash tool.
May I ask what rom you are on?

cm and slimrom.I shouldn't buy D850....No rom...and multirom support.
ATT still no update to me.And no tot leaked. So no new modem..
I continue to have a problem with the lock screen freezing
When the phone sleeps, the screen will wake up , but I cannot swipe up to use the phone
This happens with several of the lp ROMs. Any suggestions? I do not have a password setup on the lock screen.
Thanks.
disable day dream
The trusted devices does not seem to work like it is supposed to. I have tried adding my LG watch and still have to put the pin in.

There is ROM support and the 2 custom ROMs you are using prove that. D850 has only had the ability for custom ROMs for about 4 months so you need to give it time.
As far as AT&T update, are you referring to Lollipop? You need to be on stock KK to get the OTA. Stock Lollipop now has a means to root and use TWRP. Go to the LOUNGE in the general section to find out more.

Xposed
Xposed framework is also available it's in alpha or beta phase can't remember which but it seems very stable on my phone also its not like the traditional xposed installer you have to flash a zip file then install xposed installer apk. Official thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3034811
I also have problems with 5ghz WiFi bands sometimes they show up sometimes they don't typically they aren't there though.
