I am rather furstrated with the font size for this screen. i have it set to small and things are rather large as if the font is set to normal.
this phone has high resolution and a good ppi so it should be no problem shrinking things on the screen.
is there a utility or program that can do this? being this a miui based rom it'd be a disaster tinkering with it.

anyone know why when i change the font size in spare parts it quickly reverts to the default settings? it seems to change all fonts size but doesnt last long. once it changed right before my eyes just by rotating the phone to landscape. weird. would love to be able to make the font slightly smaller because one of my widgets gets cut off a little and a smaller font size fixes this. also, im not 80 years old and dont need a huge font to read. thanks
User Friendly
This is actually so ridiculous. 'Not so smart' phones like BB has at least 20 fonts to choose from and allows to make a choice for font size. I dont understand the so called open Android can not not have a simple setting like Font selection and size!!!
So much for open system and user friendliness!!!!
Hi,
I am trying to customize my launcher icons for the eee pad transformer tablet. I've tried Desktop VisualizeR and Bettercut, both resize the icons smaller than stock launcher icons. I'm using 512x512 and 256x256 png files from DeviantArt. I can't find a setting in either app to configure the size of the resulting icon.
I thought I'd try resizing the images to the "native" format to see if that would help.
After reading these pages:
developer.android.com/guide/practices/ui_guidelines/icon_design_launcher.html
developer.android.com/guide/practices/screens_support.html
I have come to realize that the current Honeycomb tablets (or at least eee pad) are:
screen size: xlarge
density: mdpi
According to these docs mdpi is 48x48 and hdpi is 72x72. So I tried resizing the images to 48x48 and also tried 72x72 pixels, neither of which solved the problem.
48x48, looks like what DVR and Bettercut are resizing them to, so they seems to be following the rules.
They say px (pixel) for the unit, but do they mean dp (density-independent pixel)?
I don't get it. Can anyone help me out here?
Thanks
Icons that appear in the launcher typically display at 72x72 pixels. Try resizing them to 72x72 before loading them with DTV or BetterCut. If neither app is displaying the icons at the right size, then it is a problem with the app that will need to be resolved by the developer.
Thanks, yes you are right. I did some calculations based on the 1280x800 resolution spec and the actual physical dimensions of the screen and icons and came up with this:
The dpi is actually 150, but that is close enough to 160 that you can assume that px = dp
The width of the GMail launcher icon is 61px which makes in the correct recommended size for a full 72px "asset".
I guess I need to take it up with the developers but I find it strange that this device is categorized as mdpi in the android Best Practices page, and that the recommended launcher icon size for mdpi is 48px.
Ok, I don't know why it took me this long to come to this epiphany but, call me an idiot, but the issue here is that the screen size should be the deciding factor for icon size not dpi. dpi is, essentially, irrelevant in so much as the limitation of dpi on a particular device is it's problem, not android's. So... is this a "bug" in android's recommendations in the Best Practices page? Icon size should be based on screen size not dpi.
I think I need to clarify, icon size should be based on screen size and defined in terms of device-independent pixels. Or I may be wrong, my head is spinning right now.
Hello,
I want to set a 1080x1920 picture as wallpaper but I can't make it to fit my screen perfectly - there are either black bars at some sides of the screen or the wallpaper is messed up. I've tried to use Wizardrii and Image2Wallpaper in many ways and this is the closest of what I was able to do: http://i.imgur.com/RuMWRNu.jpg
Any suggestions? I'm using Action Launcher Pro without any additional screens so I don't want my wallpaper to scroll. I would like it to be something like if you set a wallpaper on Windows PC. Plain and simple
Out of interest, are higher res wallpapers better?

Not sure what do you mean but I always like to choose high resolution wallpapers, they simply look nicer for me. Also I prefer static wallpapers over the scrolled ones.

Screen is 1080x1920 in portrait mode. Not.1920x1080 so make sure you're getting wallpapers then right shape.
If you get a higher resolution than that, it cannot look better. It will either crop or compress (which could look worse) but if you do get a higher resolution than that, do you still get the bars?

I'm aware about differences, that's why I'm looking for 1080x1920 wallpapers instead of reversal Also when I look for higher resolution wallpapers, I usually look for those who are exactly 1.5x or 2x bigger than the native resolution and for those with the same aspect ratio (16:9/9:16 in that case). I'll look for a bigger wallpapers and then let you know.
EDIT: Found a wallpaper which is two (...or four?) times bigger: http://fc09.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2013/313/d/2/bad_boy_by_p0nystark-d6tnf8n.jpg
Trying to set it as wallpaper resulted in a black bar on top of the screen: http://i.imgur.com/RpFoBGB.jpg
I'm still messing with all the possible options in both of those apps. How come that Android itself is not able to properly set such a wallpaper? For me it is actually ridiculous...

Image 2 wallpaper works great for me.

Curious to see what people prefer for display settings and customization.
I set my display to.:
Font size: Large
Display size: small
Smallest width is set to 423dp
I also was messing around with font packs and really liked roboto light and noto sans.
I find that apps like Chrome seem to display the layout better with these settings,.
What do you set yours to and do you have any tips for better reading, layout, fonts or whatever?
Cheers!
I will keep it in mind
I known can change the font size in settings, but something is wrong. Smallest width in developer settings is 360, no matter what, it always goes back to that. Medium size looks too big. Small font size, do change the size, but the rest stays big.
Any idea to fix this? 9 eu c62.
