[Q] poor hardware/software issues. - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i had purchased the oneplus one (india version 64gb variant CM11S) and received it on the 15th of dec'14. since the last 20 days i hav noticed a certain lag on my onepelus one while playing asphalt 8 inspite of 46 gb free storage...i ran an antutu benchmark v5.6 and to my surprise came a poor score of 29000 and also during the video played during the test it showed only 30fps.... i checked the core information & it always used to show core0=1036MHz /300 Mhz, core 1=0(stopped), core2=0(stopped), core3=1036MHz/300MHz i.e only 2 cores work inspite of activating the performance mode & havig snapdragon 801 (2.5Ghz*4)...i am really concerned...i asked a guy on fb and he said that my cores are probably underclocked and advised to factory reset tthe phone... but my xam will start in the near future and i dont want to get in the reset mess....guyz please help.....and do invite other to this chat...i want to have diff ideas.

The fact that you have 46gb free storage on your phone has absolutely no bearing on how smoothly a game will play, the only two real factors that would affect that are the RAM on the device and the CPU/GPU, storage is just that, only storage. It looks to me like your CPU profile isn't working correctly, and to be honest the best course of action is a factory reset. It might not be convenient for you right now but that's the way it is.

Running XDA Orbit 2 with Core Player - it's so unbelievebal that this new device...

...is SLOWER than my 2 Years old Dell Axim!
I've been running my Update for CorePlayer to V1.2.2 without any problems. But - i've running the YouTube Function, connecting over WLAN 54 MBits to the YouTube Empire...
There i'll be searching for some videos, thinking that anything has chanced with this new version - tapped on a video - waiting - watching about five seconds - and? NOTHING! Its like before, laggy, struggleing and unwatchable...
why this damn devices is not optimized? why is this expensive thing hardware not able to do, what a two or three year old pocket pc is running without any problems? why we must hack this device to get a piece of performance?
This device is the best, the nicest and the fully featured piece of hardware that i've ever had. i've been a pda junkie since the beginning of this with the crappy WIN CE2.1.
Since Win CE is mutch time gone and the devices gone faster and faster. The good old casio em500 running a 150 MHz MIPS CPU was fast - the well known iPAQ3660 was faster and much better in playing videos or something. Every change of hardware was a change that was useful. After that a MDA2 with a 400 MHz x-scale cpu was mine and it was faster than everything before. MDA Compact was faster, The Dell AXIM Series was fast like a rocket - but then XDA Orbit brakes me like a train crashing in a wall of steel. I thought i've been running this device with a handbrake or something.
The Orbit 2 is a little bit faster - but if there is no video driver the videos are laggy - and that is what i don't understand. Why HTC?!
1. The youtube function is still new to the CorePlayer (I mean the direct youtube support whith available configuration)
2. The lag is mostly because of a small buffer and/or a crappy net connection
3. Unless CorePlayer doesn't suck whith normal (320x240 24~25 FPS) videos, don't complain.
Yes, we know that the drivers are missing, that's nothing new. If you wan't to know the cause check my signature. We heard enough people complaining, and most of us tried to do something instead of (in this case very detailed) whining.
If you knew what to expect, then don't complain, it you didn't... maybe next time you'll check forums/reviews/youtube for more info before buying.

Apple iPhone running Quake 3 smooth like a piece of butter in the sun...
as far as i know iphone got a 600Mhz arm cpu
and a whole different os structure so you cant
really mix it into a compare of polaris and an older dell pda

We feel your pain buddy...
Or should I say, we felt your pain. We've got past that stage already, and have kind of accepted this crappy fact of life - that we've been bent over with a smile. I personally chose this device because there is nothing else to choose from!
On the other hand, HTC makes me really want to get an iPhone, even with its lack of any modern features - it is a device that just works (well, after you've jail-broke it).

I wonder why your facing this problem?!?! CorePlayer 1.2.2 gives smooth flawless video, I've tested in on every video format commonly used.
Have you installed it on your Storage card or Device memory?
Just out of curiosity, will it make any difference?
I have it installed on the device itself, will it get a boost if i install it on the memory card?

Yes, the app performs faster if installed on the Device memory, hence the improved video speeds.

That was a kinda unclear response, i asked if i'll get a boost if i'll get a boost if i install on the MicroSD Memory card, and you reply with yes, you will get a boost from the Device Memory.
But i'm guessing i've done the right thing (installing it on the Built In memory)
Better to install on the device memory. As a rule of thumb install apps on device memory, especially if you have performance or incompatibility issues.
As for Coreplayer, I am using 1.2 with QTv. While it is a lot better with QTv and benchmark numbers are great, it's still not that fluid. When panning in scenes or fast motion, it's still not very smooth. When I check properties I might have 1 dropped frame out of several thousand so I know it's not dropped frames. I have encoded my movie (source is my DVD) at 320x240. It's at 24 fps. I can always try encoding at 30fps and see if that fixes it. But I don't believe fps to be the issue since playing the 24fps movie on my computer is smooth. Any ideas?

[q] jlab pro-7

I recently brought a cheap android tablet (JLAB PRO-7) from Staples on Black Friday. Has anyone flashed a rom or did anything with this particular tablet?
I tried rooting it even though it came partly rooted and now evey time it is cut off or it reboots it is back to as if it came straight out the box. Do any one have any idea on a fix for this?

Glad someone else is looking to root JLAB also!
I am desperately looking for info on this also. You left out the biggest surprise and annoyance with this low-end tablet...NO ABILITY TO MOVE APPS TO THE SD CARD!!! This thing is running 4.4.2 for Chris sake! After OS install, you only have 5GB internal memory. I put a 32GB card on it in order to shuffle off the app memory hogs and I can't even use it!!! <calming down...>
As a result, I get "insufficient memory available" errors for many programs. And some won't even consider the tablet for install. I know you get what you pay for, but the specs on this thing aren't awful. It just needs a decent OS on it. I tried loading into the bootloader once and almost bricked it. When rebooted, the "JLAB" opening screen came up and just stayed there...forever. I finally had to leave it on overnight to completely run down the battery to get it back from the abyss.
Please, if anyone has this thing and is able to put a decent rooted OS on it, post it here. Thank you!
+1 any headway?
I got one for xmas from a friend... I was able to root it with kingo root tool for windows.
I hope this helps.
Make sure debug mode is on in developers options.
To enable this mode clicking the "build number" a few times in system settings.
It rooted my device but i ran into a few issues. First every time the device does a full restart it makes me do the welcome wizard also
(unsure if my defective or not) my wifi signal becomes extremely weak even though i am sitting next to the router.
Kewlz now that we have root all we need is a custom recovery. Id be willing to test out a recovery if someone wants to make one.
I found out the all these cheap tablets are rebraned the manufactor is trio they also sell tablets under their own name.
For the love of God please make a room for this. It's often rebranded please let us know if it works with some other room.

I also rooted my Pro 7 using KingoRoot and am now facing the issue of a factory reset every time the device restarts or powers off/powers on. Were you, or anyone else able to solve this problem? Thanks!
I did not resolve the issue. I returned the thing and got my money back. There are much better options out there then this cheapo thing.
There are definitely better options but it was free on cyber Monday at tiger direct. It will be a decent tablet for my young son if I'm able to get it sorted.

I agree with you. But logically it's been a year and these China tablets see no dev love. Unless you know the inners of android OS... I wouldn't suggest it because you will be taking on issues like this alone. ebay the Toshiba Thrive. They are really cheap now and run so much better. If i remember right someone made custom kitkat for it. It's really durable and strong perfect for a kid.

It's been several years since I had an android device but I go the same black friday deal and figured that it would be a great ereader (free). Now I need a little more room so I'm trying to root but both kingo and king root failed for me.. Any ideas? I'm on a mac running windows through a VM but I don't think that is the issue.
Your version is obviously newer as this thread was made last Xmas. As I stated these devices have little to no support so finding a working root would be hard. Your computers os shouldn't matter. If you want an easy root return the device and get a name brand device.

Does LG G Flex 2 still worth it in 2016 for $170?

My local online shop sell this phone for only $170 brand new, which is steal for a snapdragon 810 devices(At least in my country). The model is H959 with 32gb storage and 2gb ram i believe. Im upgrading from lumia 1520. Does it worth it? Thanks in advance (Sorry for my bad english)
170$? US Dollars? I would say shut up and take my money!
Even if you have to know that the development is really bad because no Android6root and no bootloaderunlock - for now, and probably forever. Thank you lg!
On top of that, the screen brightness range is a joke.. A bad one. Don't get me wrong, it's sharp and clear but during day it's not THAT Bright and at night it's like looking right into the Sun.
Overheating and lag is gone for me since android6 but root is gone too so... Meh :/
Battery is okay but don't expect too much - but you still can get 2 days if you handle it right.
Camera is still far above average I would say (good at night, ois, laserfocus, even 4k, but ****ty slomo compared to iPhones)
Helpful?
From H955 16gb
Edit: still would buy again though.. It's still best bang for the bucks and literally physically indestructible
No. I had nothing but problems with mine. Regretted buying it so much. I especially hated the battery life, the software and that you can't turn double tap to wake off unless you installed a 3rd party app. If you have to buy it, I'd go for the 3gb ram version. I had the 2gb version and the user experience was miserable.
I replaced mine with a Oneplus 3 and never looked back.

I have to disagree regarding getting the 3GB H950 over the 2GB versions unless you are a AT&T customer, for the following reasons:-
- Even if you are an AT&T customer, the H950 is stuck on 5.1.1. and the battery life sucks.
- If you are not an AT&T customer, the H950 is on 5.0.1 and you can only get it upgraded by having an AT&T sim card in the phone and connected to there network. Take it from me, getting to even 5.1.1 is a nightmare. :crying:
Totally agree though regarding the One Plus 3, the user experience is second to none. :victory:
Buy it if is H955 !!!!! Update to Marshmallow and enjoy it ! Super fast, not overheat more then other LG for example LG3, great camera, great display, great design .
I used before LG Optimus One ( 2 years) Samsung Galaxy S2 ( 3 years) LG G3 (1 year) all rooted using with custom roms, so I know what I am talking about !
H955 its a very good phone only with Marshmallow because let you using other programs , like google phone changing your default dialer , google messaging , so I don't need root for this phone.

But does the H955 work on GSM carriers like AT&T?
And how can we tell if we have 2 gb ram or 3gb ram?

Agreed. It depends on what you need, I guess.
The thing i hated the most about the 2gb version is the apps and tabs reloading in chrome or other web browsers. It reloads every time I leave a tab for more than 20 seconds. I have to use this secure website for work and would have to log back in every time the website reloads. So i would be on this website, pulling some information off it to send a text to my client, go back for additional information, and it would force me to log in again and search the database again. Rinse and repeat about 20 times a day. I think the lack of ram and the ram management was responsible for it. I would have never expected that from a 2015 flagship-ish phone.

I feel you. I used to have these sorts of issues on the Nexus 9. Things improved when I switched to Habit Browser as that seemed to be less RAM intensive than bloated Chrome. There were also some custom roms on the Nexus 9 which would employ zRAM to effectively buy another 0.5GB. Maybe something you could look at? I also went for the H950 for the Mrs due to being concerned that 2GB wasn't enough on the other versions. Its starting to feel like you cant win either way with the GF2. :crying:

Hi I am considering getting a Flex 2. I went from considering ordering a H950 At&t variant from abroad because of the extra storage and RAM. However after seeing that it will probably never get marshmallow and probably has more bloatware on it than other versions, I am thinking that even the weaker H955 might work better with Marshmallow since it should be a lot more optimized for the SD810 SOC and maybe better RAM management too. I would appreciate if you could give your opinion on some things:
- What is the bloatware situation on the Flex 2 Marshmallow ROM out of the box?
- Have you seen an increase in speed on everyday use( compared to 5.1.1/11)? Such as opening apps and multitasking.
- Have you seen a decrease in heating and throttling issues?
-Have you seen an increase in battery life?
- Have you tried any low or high end gaming? If so what is the performance like on Marshmallow?
- Has the minimum brightness issue been fixed?
- Have you tried different launchers to see if there has been an improvement in performance?
Many thanks

Yes

Yes

Same, my record is more then 120 Hours but if you use intense you drain the battery more quickly.

Not tried.

Generally speaking the reviews and users report that at min brightness it was way too bright so for viewing in the darkness it is just too hard on the eyes.

Does over using a phone cause significant hardware degradation?

I have a LYF Wind 7 with a 1.3 GhZ Quad core snapdragon 210 and 2 GB RAM. The phone was snappy and slick when I got it. But now after 1.5 years, it has become so laggy that it's become impossible to use it. Whenever I open dialler, it takes 5-10 seconds. The back button responds 10 seconds later while inside WhatsApp or any other app. Even after factory reset, it runs fast for a day, but returns to being laggy. The firmware is the latest version. Tried force stopping all apps with greenify but nothing works. Internal memory is 3 GB free.
Now my confession is, I have overused the phone. I have often used the phone's hotspot with Jio as my primary data connection. Now is it possible that a phone's hardware can degrade this way? I'm planning to buy the Zenfone Max Pro M1 but will it get laggy like this phone if I overuse it by using it as hotspot?

Question Motorola Moto G100 lag problem.

Hello everyone! I am new to this site and i love tinkering with technology, i have been following this website for over 8 years and i have had many devices and used many roms.
Either way, i recently bought a Motorola Moto G100 and in the beginning it was really fast and smooth but after a couple days the phone began to lag the entire time, be it: just scrolling through the interface or using the browser with almost no pictures in the site, PUBG MOBILE lags on low settings, Call of Duty Mobile lags as hell on low settings, normally i would not really mind if it had a weak processor and a tiny amount of ram but this phone has a Snapdragon 870 and 8GB of Ram, i tried everything restarting the phone, limiting the amount of apps that i install and i even resetted the phone 4 times and it made it somehow worse, I don't have any malware or viruses on the phone and the software it's self is really clean. As an example, 90hz on the phone enabled sometimes feels like not even 60 fps even while being on the interface, i mean it says its on 90 fps but it feels like 30? I bought it new in the store. So, things like these aren't normal, right?
Thank anybody who notices this.
Hi. Moto g100 should have good performance on this games. It sounds like your device is a clone, this would mean that maybe it was a scam and it isn't a real moto g100
