teoreticaly yes, you lose warranty.
but you can unroot it.
Actually technically the answer is NO. Rooting your phone should not in and of itself void your warranty, but the things you can do may and most likely will. For example lets say you root your phone and keep the stock kernel just debloat the stock ROM, and then the volume buttons stop working...unless you did hardware mods it would be under warranty. When I rooted my HTC using the HTCDev method to unlock the bootloader the disclaimer said it MAY, not that it will or does, and a few months after rooting and reading their warning I sent in my phone for warranty repair/replacement with no problems, even though my phone was documented as being rooted. Now if you hard brick your phone flashing a ROM with bad mount points that is a different story altogether.
A few years back I had a Samsung Interceptor that I had rooted and it had an issue with a physical button (Power button I believe), I brought my phone to Sprint and the rep saw it was rooted (before I sprung for Superuser Elite to hide the app). His words to me were that as long as NO hardware mods were done and the phone can be flashed back to a stock state it would still be covered under warranty. Important to note...Carriers will not service a phone with a custom recovery PERIOD, which is why I left the Sprint store and reflashed the stock image to the phone.
My advice to people who are concerned with their warranties is to know exactly how to get it back to stock...before its ever customized. The reason for this should be obvious. And don't let it leave your hands (sent out for repair, or brought to the back for testing) prior to flashing it back to stock

I can probably point you in the right direction...did you unlock the bootloader or not? I am seeing a few unroot methods for locked bootloaders. If you did unlock the bootloader you will need to lock it back. Also it is important to note that some bootloaders will say *relocked* after relocking them, and not *locked* if it says *relocked* they will know it has been rooted. This is NOT a problem because once again having root access does not void the warranty, but you should be aware that if it says relocked they will know it has been rooted. This link has a root/unroot tool that may help it makes no mention of a specific firmware for your model phone so it should be fine. Also this video should help with the relock procedure but not knowing the phone I would need more specific details. Firmware and method used to root/unlock bootloader if you unlocked it. *EDIT* I did a little looking and thought you might find this of interest. About midway through there is a section about warranty claims and returns...I didn't sign up so I can't see the links there but it should help .

could rooted Z3 be unrooted and restore warranty?
No ATM, because the only way to root in this moments is unlocking the bootloader, and if you unlock the bootloader you lose the DRM keys forever, and if you lose without have a backup (The making of a backup of DRM keys is not possible ATM too), you cant restore warranty.

If u relocking you bl then what is the point of unlocking of bootloader...
If u want unlock then u can unlock it by androcyda flashtool for xperia...
If u have your drm keys.. Backup then it ok.. U can restore them and get fully stock device if not.. Relocking will not do anything like that.
As far as I'm aware either re-lock via flashtool or by restoring the drm/ta keys which re-locks it. Unless you have the drm/ta keys pointless re-locking it to be honest as without the ta keys updates still won't work anyway not that we'll be getting Anymore updates should be a simple process either way though..

I've got my XZ since one week now, and I'm missing the possibilities of rooting my device.
My Z2 was LB, so I never could ever try to unlock my bootloader. therefore, I don't know anything about it.
I've read a lot of thread here and there, and some points are not that clear to me.
Will the procedure of unlocking the bootloader erase everything in the phone (like photos, contacts, etc...)?
Unlocking the bootloader will kill the DRM keys forever, if I understood well. but flashing Androplus Kernel will recover them, right?
Is it possible to relock the booltloader after? if yes, will the DRM keys be restored?
Last thing, to be sure of what I should do.
1-unlock the bootloader with IMEI via sony site.
2-install TWRP via adb command
3-flash Androplus kernel.
Am I right, or do I miss something?

Hey sensei_sai,
Im unsure if unlocking will erase your data but its always best to backup everything in the internal memory just in case something goes wrong.
Androplus will NOT recover your DRM keys but kernels with DRM fixes try to replicate the features that are permanently lost as a result of unlocking your boot-loader.
In the future it may be possible for you to re-lock the boot-loader but even then this wont restore DRM keys, the only way to restore DRM keys would be to back up your TA partition (This contains your DRM keys) before you unlock your boot-loader but to do this you need root access with your boot-loader still locked.
How to backup TA
Unfortunately at this time nobody has figured out a way to get root with a locked boot-loader although a newly found exploit (Dirty cow) may help us do this very soon so if you care about re-locking and keeping your DRM keys I advise waiting until a locked boot-loader root solution is around!

Too bad for the TA partition.
So we have two possibilities. Take the risk of loose some features forever, but benefit of the root or wait till someone make some magic to use an exploit to obtain root without unlocking the bootloader.
Risk and go... Or wait and safe... Dilemma...

I think that the era of DRM lock is over, we've been using DRM fixes for all the latest xperia phones, the dirty cow is a bad exploit and it's more dangerous than useful.
I was unsure about unlocking the bootloader but now that I did it, I rooted and I regret nothing, the only downside of unlocking is the warranty loss, but who cares as long as the phone doesn't magically explode.

No. Pretty sure all phones from the Z5 need to have the bootloader unlocked.
All 64-bit devices Xperia Z3+/Z4 and onwards all require an unlocked bootloader for root. The real question you should be asking is... Can we get a DRM backup? With a DRM backup we can unlock and relock the bootloader as and when we want. Without DRM keys backup we can't relock the bootloader from my understanding. Thats the closest we can get to locked bootloader root unfortunately.

Yeah don't want to unlock unless there is a way to get the DRM key backup.
Not risking my warranty just yet.
