S5 Active help - Sprint Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Trying to put a custom rom on my sisters phone and would like some direction. It's a S5 Active, so is this the same section for this phone? Also it's running 4.4.2, so can I put a custom rom? Like without Safestrap?

Moar 2.2 is running on my s5 active ... gotta flash ng3 kernal after install.

Thanks. So do I still need to use Safestrap to install Moar 2.2? Is Safestrap like the norm now for Samsung phones? My sister has an old S3 and S4 that I wouldn't mind doing the same, cause they all require Safestrap.

Sprint Galaxy S 5 Active replacement LCD
Does anyone know where i can buy a replacement LCD screen for a Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 5 Active. My wife broke the LCD screen and i can not find the replacement screens anywhere. Please Help:crying:

Replacement screen isn't a problem to find. Finding one that doesn't cost a lot is another problem.

Those with an Extra S3

If anyone with an extra galaxy s3 (White) that can run custom roms,i would like to trade for my Galaxy s3 on 4.3. I hate everything about this phone U.I and i wished i never asked for a new phone from Verizon. I sincerely do miss CM.11 and would greatly appreciate anyone who would like to trade. My phone is brand new. I will include everything except for the battery and the back cover.

[Q] (Q) Need Advise - Considering Upgrading to S5 instead of S6

Hi Folks,
I currently have an S4, and my two-year contract is up. My S4 doesn't have Sprint Spark, and the data is not great in the building I work. I checked out the app OpenSignal, and it appears Sprint is still the best option with unlimited data in my current location (T-Mobile was the other option). My S4 is rooted with tethering, something I would like to keep in my next phone. I'd like to try out a Sprint Spark phone, and I'm thinking it may be better to get the S5 instead of the S6 for the following reasons.
- S5 has a larger, removable battery. Whenever I mess with rooting and custom roms, it seems that I almost always need to do a battery pull at some point. Without the ability to do that, the chances of messing something up seem greater.
- Expandable memory, something the S6 doesn't have anymore.
- Already lots of ROMs and tweaks available in this forum.
- Cheaper
The S6 does look fancier, and I would imagine I can get root and tethering on it just as easily as I could an S5 (unlimited tethering > Samsung Pay, at least for me). What are your thoughts? Are there any killer features on the S6 that would make it worth considering over the S5?

Good video comparision. One thing to keep in mind for this poll, it's posted in the S5 forum, so it's sure to be biased towards the S5. I bet if the same poll was posted in the S6 forum, it would be close to the opposite.

I don't have 1 though..... Totally true though I was thinking the same!!
I was playing with my buddies s6 edge and even though it was crisp and clean and smooth with complete stock unrooted I would still choose the s5 because of battery and sd card

Edge plus compatible?

Perhaps this is a REALLY stupid question, but are S6 edge roms compatible with the S6 Edge plus? I just got the edge plus and was bummed to see no development really for it. I'm thinking about taking it back now.
Thanks
It isn't compatible.S6E+ have different hardware(display, something more maybe) and S6E roms exclude drivers for it.
Well it's really too soon for developement, the phone is very new. Give it some time

Looking for Help and suggestions.

Hello,
First a litttle background (skip to the 2nd paragraph for the question): My first experience with Android and XDA came with the Galaxy S5... On AT&T. As you know, its not the most friendly phone when it comes to the development community but thanks to Safestrap, I was at least able to do some tweaking. But, shortly after I bought it, the Note 4 was released and I immediately wanted it... it became my dream phone. But, of course, on AT&T, its locked down just like the S5 (maybe even more so?). I then bought a Tab S 8.4 and had a much better experience with being able to customize the tablet how I wanted. When it came time to upgrade, I was going to buy the Nexus 6 so I could have complete freedom and once my upgrade date came, both AT&T and Best Buy both promptly stopped selling the Nexus 6. So, I decided to just say screw it, and bought the Note 5. While its a fast phone and Touchwiz is night and day better on it than it was on my S5, I really miss my root.
So, here's my question: I have been monitoring the forums and have seen that AT&T users with the Galaxy S6/S6 Edge and the LG G4 have been able to successfully root. Ironically, I almost bought the G$, but bought the Note b/c of my desire for the Note 4. Anyway, if I were to buy a S6 Edge or G4 at Best Buy today, would it come with the stock firmware that is rootable (with Pingpong for the Samsung or flashing with the LG) or will they have been updated to one of the newer un-rootable firmwares? I'm not trying to get into an OEM debate here, I just want the best Android experience possible in my current situation and, unfortunately, that means buying an AT&T phone. I don't know if it matters, but If I buy the G4, it would be the silver H810 as I'd buy the leather back anyway and if I buy the S6Edge, it would be gold version with model number of SM-G925AZDAATT.
Thanks for reading and for any advice you can give!
PS.. There may be other rootable AT&T phones I don't know about and I'm open to them as well but at this point, I'm restricted to buying an AT&T phone through Best Buy. Thanks again!
Go with G4 I might be a little subjective but just start with the removable battery and micro sd card...
There's a thread for this.

Simple root question

Is there any firmware lately, that will not allow you to root? Reason, I'm selling my S7 Edge and going back to older phones as they are cheaper, and root friendly.. Had a S5 Sport a few yrs back, but development was not that great.. So I'm purchasing a regular S5 Mint condition for $115 and also going to sell my old S3 with 2 new batteries.. Thanks.

For the S5s? Not that I have seen. If anything its more easier now to root an S5 than before. The S7s are way hard to root(snapdragons mostly) than the S5s.
