Those with an Extra S3 - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

If anyone with an extra galaxy s3 (White) that can run custom roms,i would like to trade for my Galaxy s3 on 4.3. I hate everything about this phone U.I and i wished i never asked for a new phone from Verizon. I sincerely do miss CM.11 and would greatly appreciate anyone who would like to trade. My phone is brand new. I will include everything except for the battery and the back cover.

[Q] stay with this phone or exchange?

hi everyone,
i have a quick question, i just upgraded my phone to the nexus s from sprint, they give me 13 days to return if i wanted to do that, the main reason i got this phone was for the NFC chip to be able to use google wallet, however i got it and i can't even use it becasue the prepaid card from google wallet is not working i called them and they say that the system is down and it wouln't go back on for about 2 weaks.
My question is do you guys think i should stay with this phone or i should bring it back and exchange to the galaxy s2 epic 4g?
thanks for all of your input on this.

I'd prefer a Nexus phone over anything. An unlockable bootloader if you want to flash your own ROM's and the fastest OTA's if you want to stay stock.
The only phone worth exchanging it for is the Galaxy Nexus, in my opinion. But I don't really see the need yet. The Nexus S is a great phone, even though the specs may be less astonishing than many new phones.

anybody else have any more sugestion about this?
You could take it back and wait on Sprints GN

i heard that its going to be a will before that come out
I think the Nexus is definitely worth keeping. It's a great size, and there is still a massive amount of developing being done. Keep it ... you won't regret it.
Gs2 will be upgraded ics soon
If you have enough money, the answer is gs2
Stick with it!

thanks everybody for the replays
When I first got my NS4G I got bored of it quick. I was used to HTC Sense. I have almost traded it and/or sold it many times, but when it gets down to it I CANNOT part with this phone. The Nexus is one of the greatest phones. Pure Google, no Sprint or Samsung bloatware. I have learned so much with this phone.

About to purchase Galaxy Nexus from Sprint!

I have had a Dell Streak for a long time. I am switching to Sprint for financial reasons and a family plan. I was going to wait for the Samsung Galaxy S III but for all the hype the phone does not seam to blow everything else away. I would enjoy the SD Slot but Sprint's 32GB should be plenty. I like the better camera but I don't think its going to be a HUGE difference. Besides those two things I do not really care.
Want I do care about is putting third party apps on my phone like tTorrent, rooting, and wireless HOT SPOT.
I want to buy a phone that has a HUGE Rom development community.
I believe if I get the Sprint Galaxy Nexus I will have just that. Does everyone agree or does someone think I am making a mistake and should wait for the Galaxy S III?
When you root it or flash a new ROM does it give you portable wireless hot spot?
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA Premium App
Well guys I purchased the Nexus and can say that I love it. Also I use Foxfi for the big portable hot spot I wanted most so the phone is perfect stock and I really enjoy it without it being rooted.

wow nice .. let me know about it

I was wondering if anyone knew of the latest or best phone that has the greatest ROM rooting following at the moment greater than the Galaxy Nexus?
I have a Galaxy Nexus right now and its great but I am just bored with it. I would like to upgrade. The only problem is that I use [GNEX TOOLKIT V11.1.0] Drivers, Backup, Unlock, Root, Recovery, Flash + MORE [SPRINT] which is the best tool around.
I was wondering if there are tools like this or better for other newer phones that I may upgrade to or should I just stay with my Nexus for while?

I agree with what you said, the galaxy S3 seems like the most logical choice. It is running android 4.1 and is the definitely one of the nicest looking and most functional phones out there.

Kinda like asking what the best color is, no? It's a very user specific question, every phone has a little something different. But I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S3 right now and absolutely loving it. So if the S3 is one of only a few choices, I'd go with it. Good luck!

I got a GS3!

I decided to get a galaxy s3 instead of a droid DNA, and love it. Samsung has many awesome features and I like the design and the support of accessories that I wouldnt of had with the DNA. Just curious to know if you guys think the Battery Saver feature really helps?

I had been a HTC fanboy myself and coming from the rezound. The battery on this one blows that one away, at least from my point of view. So I never really thought about it.

Congrats on your new phone!
Did you buy a phone without contract? If not then did you consider the S4? Just curious.
I almost got the DNA instead as well. It would be an awesome phone if it had a friggen external sd card slot! What the hell were they thinking... Anyways, you will love the S3. There is tons and tons of support for it, and plenty of roms and other stuff to try if you decide to root it. I think I will remain a well supported phone for a long time yet. I came from the HTC Incredible 2.
Best smartphone I've ever owned by far... Coming from the OG HTC Thunderbolt... Main reason I didn't get the DNA was not being able to upgrade SD card or remove the battery that's a total killer for me that loves to buy external batteries...

Awesome man! I just got mine yesterday too, bought it off eBay.
I've already wiped out TouchWiz and testing other ROMS. I came from an iPhone 5 > Galaxy Nexus > Now GS3
I just got this phone because i broke my S2 on Monday, and picked this phone up the same day. The only reason why i still have it is because the S4 didn't ship to local stores around me.
It's a nice phone but it's going back so I can get the T-Mobile version galaxy S4.
SD card support was ultimately the only reason I didn't go with the DNA. Now I'm glad I went this route. I love being able to use AOSP.

Same
I got the GS3 over the DNA too. More because of the battery
I picked one up about a week ago as well. I love it. I've always been a HTC fan as well. I broke the screen on my Rezound and decided to pick up the s3 since I'm not eligible for an upgrade til august. The battery life on it is blows the rezound out of the water. Only thing i don't like about it is the keyboard. Still trying to decide whether i'm going to root it or not.

You should give SwiftKey a try, number one paid app in the PLAY store. I found it is a much better keyboard.

Trick with Swiftkey is keeping it as default. Google installs wrong. To get it to stick as default download from Market and set as default. Make TIBU backup. Delete Swiftkey. Restore from TIBU. It will now have permissions to remain as default keyboard on reboot. Works for any 3rd party keyboard from the Market.
Cool
Awesome man!! Welcome to the club! I hope you love it as much as I do!!

How many S3 users are on S4?

Just wanted to see how you guys are liking the device. Do you guys feel satisfied and happy with it? The specs are minimal in terms of an upgrade I feel so I'm having a hard time justifying it.
I'm currently in a position where I can take an upgrade and give my father my S3 (he is using an old Iphone 3g) and purchase an S4 for myself. Of course there is something in the back of my mind that says wait and see what other phones will be released but I guess you can play that waiting game forever in tech.
S4 or HTC one based on ur preference.. Don't see any spectacular phones coming out in the near future.. I upgraded from the s3 and I'm a very satisfied customer.

I have had every Galaxy S phone released. When I moved from the s2 to s3, it felt like a BIG upgrade since the screen increased. But the processor didn't "feel" like it was a big upgrade. Now that I have the s4 coming from the s3, it is reversed for me. The screen size was negligible, but the processor is hands down much much faster. It is nice to be on the latest 4.2.2. also, but we know how carriers take forever after the manufacture release an update... so who knows if we'll always be on the latest OS (won't be from ATT ).
I am really happy that I grabbed the s4 after having the s3 for a year. If your itching for an upgrade, the s4 is worth it imo. But if you could hold out, see what Google will release in Oct. (I use that as a marker since the Nexus 4 was announced last Oct.).
I come from the S3 also. At first I didn't really like it, but now with custom ROM's its much snappier and I feel its a great improvement over the S3. The screen clarity is incredible.
That's good to know! I was just afraid I would get the phone and not see any kind of difference. :good:
I might as well bite the bullet and do it since both my father and I will benefit.

How funny, I did the exact the same thing except I used my dads upgrade since he didn't really need an S4. I am really happy with my s4, it seems so much faster than the S3 and I LOVE the screen. I'd say its worth it from the S3 but I am also curious what kind of phones will come out later.

My absolute favorite thing about the S4 compared to the S3...is that the S4 has a flat screen like the S2 did. This means that screen protectors dont look crappy and that cases fit better than they did on the S3...
That seriously closed the deal for me.
I still have my old i9300 international S3 and my new i337 ATT S4. I'm loving the higher screen resolution. Yes the actual screen size is only a marginal increase, but it's very clear. However, the S3 screen was pretty nice as well and the only reason I can really notice is I have both and can compare them side by side.
My international S3 also doesn't have LTE so that's another thing I really like about my ATT S4.
I don't regret the upgrade, but I wouldn't be put out too much if I had to switch back to my S3 for some reason.
I have both S3 and S4 along with note and note 2.
I see a difference in the CPU. The screen on the s4 looks better in the sun vs the s3. Plus why wait while at is giving u 100 for a trade in. and Walmart gives u a 50$ gift card and it is 30$ cheaper already

similar thing here; GF and i had GS3's, my folks had iPhone 3Gs. we got GS4's, they got GS3's. GF and i both have very sharp eyes and work in similar industries; screen on GS4 is way better. The extra sensors i actually use, and the IR blaster/remote function is fantastic. It will be worth it more for your dad; the iphone 3G is ancient now.

Had the S3 for a week and a half. AT&T employee kept trying to convince me it wasn't worth it. That I would be wasting my money. He couldn't have been so farther from the truth if he tried.
Take the plunge bro, the waters nice and warm right now

I agree with the overall sentiment. The upgrade to the screen is enough to be honest. But it does feel speedier while having slightly better battery life at the same time.
I sold my S3 on swappa and love this S4.
Thanks for the feedback yall, making me feel much better about my decision. Like someone said, my Father will be the real winner hear jumping from an old iphone 3g to the S3!
I also need to look into this deal that I saw get announced today by AT&T about buying a S4 and getting the Galaxy Note 8.0 for $199
The S4 is 3x better than the S3...I still have a s3 and it rocks..but nothing compared to this device.

I actually miss my s3. The paranoid android ROM worked flawlessly on it. I did get my s3 6 months after it came out though so the Roms were running good by then. Right now I'm just using stock rooted. Hopefully something stable is released when the Google edition is out for us.
