[Q] Can't install Sketchbook for Galaxy on my Note Pro! - Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all ...
I just got a note pro (yay!!!) ... but I have one issue: I cant install the sketchbook app.
So the factory rested state of the tablet doesn't already have it completely installed, so t asks me to download and install it. But when I click on install, nothing happens. Not pops up or downloads.
On the other hand if I go to the screen mirroring app, which is similar in that it needs to download and install - when I click on install button, it actually works. A download popup opens.
So please help me! Thanks everybody!!!

Have you tried going through Galaxy Apps? Because that's where you have to download it from if I recall correctly.

So, I dont click on the sketchbook app icon itself?
And in galaxy apps, what do I search ... becuase there is no app called sketchbook for galaxy?

I figured it out ... had to sign in and stuff. Thanks anyway.

[Q] Any way to remove mini apps completely?

I've already removed all the mini apps, but the 'tray' is still there. Is there any way to remove it completely? I keep accidentally pressing it when I'm typing
There is a way to delete them. You can google for a guide to remove them from the Tab 7.7. The same method works on the note. Ive done it but i got careless and deleted the popup player by accident (now my video player crashes when i try to pop it out). Be careful. But yes, no mini apps on my note now
Or, if you don't use snotes and are happy with the alternatives, you could install an AOKP rom from the developement thread... That definately doesn't have the mini apps but you also loose all the samsung stuff too...
Thanks guys! I'll try the first suggestion for now
"On my GT-5100 I removed the pesky Mini Apps Tray by simply renaming /system/framework/minimode.jar to minimode.jar.1 and reboot. By re-renaming the file and rebooting again, the bar works again."
Not my solution, is from here :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=30530262
You need root for that, If someone finds a way without root please share
Edit : or try SureLock from market, read about it here http://www.42gears.com/blog/2012/09/disable-mini-apps-tray-on-samsung-galaxy-tablets/

Is it possible to add apps to the tray? Thanks

I made the same attempt on my N8000 and it worked You obviously need to have your GN rooted to alterate the name "minimode.jar" as it is part of an Read-only memory. Just got FX root explorer to do this job. I can do away with that haunting pop-up stupid bar :- )
Thanks

is there specific about "won't open", or it's force close? ex: you open it and immediately closed?
Maybe you can try this, try to clear playstore cache. First open settings->apps->google playstore, and when you click on google playstore app, find clear cache button. Wait or reboot. I hope it's work for you..

[FIX][TW][KK][LP]Saproviders & Notification Errors | Gear Manager v2.2.1501799

Saprovider error occurs only when our phone is modified (i.e rooted, custom rom and/or recovery, knox triggered)
Long story short, this will fix the irritating Saproviders force close on v2.2.xxx of gear manager giving our full control to our gear back. And no more sticking on v2.1.xxx, most importantly, no more "Gear Manager needs to be updated..." cr*p.
Requirements:
1. Root Explorer or any other similar app
2. (Optional) Mobile Data and/or WiFi (to download/update gear manager and other components)
3. Modified GearManagerStub.apk found below
4. A supported/(unsupported?) phone
5. A samsung Gear 2/2neo/S (duh!)
Procedure:
1. Unpair the Gear from the Phone (Optional but Recommended)
2. Uninstall Gear Manager and all its components
3. Download the modified GearManagerStub
4. Replace the GearManagerStub from system/app with the modified one
5. Make sure the permission of GearManagerStub.apk is 644 (rw-r--r--)
6. Reboot
7. Download and install the Latest Gear Manager from below or from GALAXY Apps
8.1 Open Gear Manager and let it install its components if you have downloaded from galaxy apps; or
8.2 Download the components HERE directly, and install it one by one.
9. Pair the smartwatch (if unpaired) and connect
10. Profit.

Won't unpairing and repairing delete everything in your gear
Unfortunately, yes, you can reinstall the apps in the samsung gear apps.
BTW. I didn't unpaired my gear the first time I tried this, unpairing+repairing is just a precaution.

Waow thanks man! Can you explain to me why I need to uninstall everything ? Can't I just go and replace the GMstub.apk ?

That's also a precaution. I haven't tried doing that but I think it should still work as well.

Well I tried and sacrificed
It didn't work and putting back the old one didn't work neither.... so use all the precautions, they are useful!
Gonna try and do this with my M8 and see if I can use the new Gear Manager without the HostManager force close popping up..

Followed directions, exactly, but I'm still getting the saprovider force close

Whoa? Really? I tried it with 2 different roms and everything was fine. Have you tried using the components I uploaded instead of downloading it directly from GearManager?
Sent from my SGS5 SM-G900F (0x1) using Tapatalk.
No, I didn't use the components you provided... that was my next option, I just haven't gotten around to it yet.
Regrettably, I tried both ways and I still get the FC. It happens when I try to set up an email account in Gear Manager
Quick question: Would this work with a no touchwiz rom in a samsung phone? I have a note 2 and i would love to use a CM12 rom, also i hate the slugish touchwiz.
Hi, anybody tried this with Gear 1 tizen?
download fail from gear manager
Did someone can help me?
I've install all the apk file and when I pair the gear to me phone, gear manager always write download fail...

Ok, this could be related to the same problems as installing the gear manager in a no samsung rom. In this thread i pointed the problem for android 4.x roms.
To install the services necessary to use the gear.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54733680&postcount=4331
to fix "installation error" within samsung store.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=55090274&postcount=1496
So, could we try to do this but with Lollipop Samsung S5 files?
We would need the files equivalent for GR.GearManagerStub.apk from a Samsung S5 rom and the APK for the Galaxy Store. Then modify the build.prop to identify as Samsung S5 and try.

I'm connect to the Wifi and this morning i've try on LTE and the same thing appears.
Sure wish there were a way to have the new gear manager without that host force close popping up on non Samsung phones.. I just installed on my HTC one and it paird great but get that host fc
Weird that the Samsung Gear app I download from Samsung Apps is an older version than the one you are providing. I don't have the FC problem but doing this in hopes that the Gear 2 can connect with S-Voice. It's been failing it's connections.
Anyway, no such luck here...starting to get frustrated with Samsung.
Update: Seems that Gear Manager won't update to the version number of your apk. Although it looks like it is taking the update, the version number in the app still shows 2.2.14110499

"Unknown sources" missing on Oreo

Hi, since the Oreo update I can't find the "Unknown sources" to install APK's freely. I'ts not under "Lock Screen and Security", and I have enabled Chrome in "Applications/Special Access/Install other apps" and I'm trying to install apps from the "Downloads" section of chrome, but it dosn't work this way either.
I was trying to install the Pixel Launcher as seen from here: https://theunlockr.com/2018/03/13/make-samsung-galaxy-s9-look-like-stock-android/
But everytime I try it I get the "<!> Application not installed".
I don't know exactly what says in english, I'm using my phone in spanish.
Any ideas? Thanks!
If you go to Settings-Apps-3 Dots-Special Access-Install Unknown Apps.
They've moved it so only certain apps can install unknown apps
Please help how to fix this problem. This doesn't work, I tried installing Accuweather pro several times. I have the app saved to my Google Drive, I click on the app and I see something called 'Staging App' and then I get this alert ' There was a problem parsing the package'. I currently had an older version of Accuweather pro installed and working fine. I decided to remove the old version and then reinstall it and I received the same alert. FYI the old Accuweather app was installed before the Oreo update.

Have you tried downloading your APP file from Google Drive to your phone then opening the copy on your phone, that should install the .apk
Go to settings on the phone >> apps >> 3 vertical dots at the top right corner >> special access >> install unknown apps >> and there enable the permission from where you are trying to download it.
All thank you,
I found out that you now have to download the app to your phone. Google Drive does not allow you to download and manually install .
Dear sir/madam,
Following your answer, in specific this part, "They've moved it so only certain apps can install unknown apps", perhaps someone could help me out. I use the Firefox Focus browser and this app doesn't show up in the list of apps that are allowed to install unknown apps.
* Does this mean Firefox Focus can't install apps from unknown apps, since it's not on the list?
* And perhaps we can conclude from that it will never be allowed to do so?
* Or would this app not be on this list, because I've never tried installing anything using this browser?
I guess the real question would be, what populates this list?
I hope to hear from you, thanks in advance, all the best.
Form what I've seen, 1st time you try to install apk from an app it asks you if you want to allow it?

That's what I was thinking as well, funny thing is that 'Google Chrome' is in the list and I've never used that browser. Unless it's there, because it's from Google
I have followed the above suggestions and have allowed Chrome to install apps since that's the browser I'm using. The phone says I have downloaded the app but it is not giving me any option to install it? Where did the download go and how can I get it actually installed? This is an app for work.
Edit: Nevermind - I restarted the phone and tried again and it worked. thanks.

compatibility problem

Dear,
I have a problem installing an application on my new Huawei Mate 10 lite. I installed the open, but on opening it says the device modal is not compatible. Is there a way I can have the application running on my device? the application is a dictionary and I am in a dire need of it, for I use it for my studies. I would appreciate any help that would get the app running. Thank you

You're trying to install it from Google play or from an APK file ?
I installed it as an APK file. It was working fine on my old Samsung Galaxy S5, as I had it downloaded from Galaxy App Store. The latter is presumably the only place where this application exists for free. I downloaded it from Galaxy App Store, installed it on galaxy s5 and shared the APK file by means of another sharing app. It installs, but it does not run. It says "device modal not compatible".

Yes , that's a kind of " protection " for Samsung , I had the same problem with gear fit manager , an app from Samsung to make a smartwatch work . That was the only way to make it work but Samsung didn't allow to run this app on low-end Samsung devices and others devices.
Unfortunately , I can't do anything.
I believe that there should be a way to install it, since it is not an application that Samsung built. The only thing is that it is offered for free by Samsung. I can't find it any elsewhere, at least the same exact version that I am looking for, but on the Samsung app store. So, I tried to share it, but it never worked. I saw somewhere on this website how to install it, but requires the phone to be rooted.

Yes , it may be the case , because I think you have to fake your device name or something like that.
But I haven't the sufficient knowledge .
Maybe a longer search will be helpful , I hope you'll find the way to do this
