I have been using TataSky Everywhere tv ( similar to virgins anywhere tv).
In the app certain features like live tv cannot be accessed by rooted phones. However using Root Cloak (Xposed framework) one can easily bypass the root check.
(Message changes from "this feature is not available on rooted phone" to "this device is not supported")
The problem arises if it checks the operating system. Everywhere tv is supported only on few devices of Samsung, htc, nexus 4,etc.
Is there a possible way to hide the detection of cyanogenmod from the app, and make, detect it as a Samsung phone..??

Hi, guys,
I was wondering if someone could provide some info about how device capabilities are "read" by the Market and how the Market filters what apps to show, depending on those capabilities.
I've been playing with rooted Androids for a while now and I have rarely seen missing apps on Market, I've never had a friend tell me about an app that I could not find, etc.
However, at work we've recently published an app in the Market and I find that it's missing on many devices it should support. The app requires 2.3.3, Internet and Phone Status permissions, but the Market sais it also filters devices that have android.hardware.wifi, android.hardware.screen.landscape and android.hardware.touchscreen.
So what I'm asking is what are these android.hardware features, to whom does this "namespace" relate and how can you set what device capabilities the Market sees.
Thanks in advance,
I thought about this one multiple times and finally decided to open this thread.
My idea is for those people that aren't able to root their devices. Apart from the warranty side there are various reasons not to do so:
KNOX
Company-owned devices?
Closed BL
Internal counters (e.g. Samsung devices)
...
So rooting won't be easy with one of the above situations.
The concept is to decompile the APK, build a modified one frome the "old" resources and include the xPrivacy APK Builder "Controll Service" and install this. Another Controll App is then able to give the Service in the modified App commands, what device-specific value it should spoof.
The concept mainly builds on the SRT App Guard that is used to take permissions from apps away. It does this e.g. by spoofing the mobile phone number to 123456 as well as the IMEI and IMSI (if READ_PHONE_STATE is in AndroidManifest and disabled by AppGuard).
It would be really nice if it were possible to manage which data should be spoofed from another App without root.
What do you think about this idea?
Greetz
Awesome idea. But who is able to make your idea real?
I'm looking for a way of stopping my kids phones from being used as a hotspot, as it allows them to share their data with others. I'm not fussed whether it worked on Android or iPhone as long as a workable solution was available. Changing the password is no good as they'll just share the new password.

It would require rooting the devices and then using root permissions to delete the system app or apps that control the hotspot feature. If you successfully root the devices and successfully remove the app or apps and are successful in stopping the hotspot functionality, you will then have to un-root the device so that the changes that you made can not be reversed.
Or, it is possible that you may be able to use adb(Android Debig Bridge)without having to root the devices to disable or remove the app or apps that control hotspot. You would just have to identify the exact name of the specific system app or apps that control hotspot on your device and then use adb commands to disable or remove those specific apps then reboot the devices.
To learn how to use adb to remove the system apps on each specific device in question, do a Google search for:
"Remove system apps via adb without root (the specific device model number)"
That should find many different guides to explain the process even if it doesn't find anything specific to the device model. The important things to remember are, you must identify the specific system apps(the specific file name of the .apk files for those apps) that control hotspot, then use those specific .apk file names in your command lines that you enter in adb and the command must be the correct uninstall or disable command.

Its a Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 64gb/3gb running Android 10 and Miui 12. But as mentioned I'd change this to any mobile which has a workable solution.
Does anyone know of any guide I could use to do this?
Not fussed on what phone its on.
I have a fully rooted phone, and I’m trying to find a workaround on blocking specific apps that force you to update to still use the app on start up because I’m using certain apps that require a certain app version and anything higher breaks functionality
When I used to have a jailbroken iPhone, you could change what’s called the bundle ID and it’s spoofed the app version to the latest one making it look like it was the latest install version
Rooting android phones is like leveling your android to another and better level. Especially with magisk, you can add customizations and improvements to your phone. And don't get me started on custom ROMS and Kernels. The only issue I, and probably others, face with root is that some apps or games do not work with them. I tried some methods and tutorials I found online. Some worked, but other games still detected my root. Specifically that "LIAPP Alert" that I believe checks the system folder of superuser. I like playing mobile games on my phone so it is a big issue for me. Is there a way to make apps not detect my root?
Things I tried that didn't worked:
Hide magisk (change magisk name) - Worked on some games
Use magisk denylist
Geergit (from Lsposed) - to change my device IDs
App Manager (from Fdroid) - I think I may not have used this properly lol
MagiskHide module (by HuskyDG)
Using Parallel Space also works with some apps, but other applications don't like it when you run them in virtual environments. There's also Vmos, a virtual machine for android which is quite amazing... and sketchy. I think it's the only solution that would 100% work on any apps and games. Although, as I said before, it's very sketchy because if you're going to run it on android 10+, it would require you to enable wireless debugging.
My device: PocoF1 using LineageOs 20 (android 13)
You can also install app-hider software for Android phones. The best app-hider apps are available directly in Google Play. Here are a few of the best app hiders for Androids:
Nova Launcher
nova launcher replaces the home screen on your Android phone. It also lets you hide apps and sort and reshuffle them according to your needs.
App Hider
The customizable app hider lets you hide apps on your Android and manage them from different accounts on your device. The app-hider icon is even disguised as a calculator.
Vault
vaults purpose is to hide apps, files, photos, and videos on your Android. It includes cloud backup and the ability to lock apps behind a secure password.
