[Completed] Need help rooting my phone. - XDA Assist

Yeah, I'm not sure why, but NOTHING has worked when I try to root my device.
My phone is: Droid Razr M.
System Version: 183.46.15.XT907.Version.en.US
Model Number: DROID RAZR M
Android Version: 4.4.2
Baseband version: SM_BP_101031.042..32.86P
Kernel version 3.4.42-gdb361ac
Build number: KDA20.62-15.1
Build Date: Tue Jul 29 05:55:21 PDT 2014
Please help me.

Hi
Thanks for writing to us at XDA Assist. A quick search of the Droid Razr M device section allowed me to find this thread:
[GUIDE][FAQ][KK] How to Root, Boot Unlock & More
Upon reading the information at the start of that thread I regret to inform you that you cannot obtain root on your firmware, and you cannot downgrade your firmware, so unfortunately you're fresh out of luck in this case. The OEM's generally patch root exploits with each firmware release so it's best to double check on the availability of a root exploit for the next firmware update before you take the update. Sometimes a new root exploit will be developed, sometimes the firmware just can't be cracked. Unfortunately in your case there is no root exploit, or even the prospect of one. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, I wish you the very best of luck with your phone!

[Q] Is there a root method for Droid Razr Maxx HD 9.18.94xt926 build number 9.8.1q-94

Ok Guys. Im over from the Note forums and Im rooting my dad's Droid Razr Maxx HD for him. He wants his wireless hotspot unlocked among other things (if you have a link to that I would appreciate it.) I have a few years of doing this under my belt but the motorola forums have me a bit overwhelmed.
Here is the lowdown. I can't find anything really on his firmware version. I've spent the last 2 or 3 hours and I can't find anything on it really and I have finally given up. So can anyone tell me if there is a root method that will work with it? And please do point me in the right direction if there is. Thanks alot and sorry about this type of thread.

There is no root exploit for this build, which is the current firmware. If the bootloader has been unlocked, which was possible two firmware versions ago, then root can be attained by flashing a SuperSu zip.

You're welcome. I don't know whether anyone is working on an exploit. Droidrzr.com is another good site for dev info.

+1! Droidrzr.com is another good site for development etc. I know some working on it (new exploit)... however none are available at this time.
I like how people say moto and verizon are jerks when they do updates that remove root, but remember - gaining root is done via an exploit, aka a security hole.
Anyone else on a major unix system would find these patches great because it protects the integrity of the system. Do we all complain when Microsoft patches security holes in Windows?
Now, if Moto and Verizon allowed you to root and unroot at will without having to use exploits, that's one thing. But, to harp on them for fixing security holes?
It's the same with jail-breaking an iPhone. It's all done via exploits/security holes. They are NOT there for you to unlock the phone. It's a "mistake" by the programmers which could lead to a security breach.
Do remember, leaving root as well as usb debugging on CAN allow a person to break into your phone if it were to get stolen. There is a way to bypass the locked screen with USB debugging turned on. I won't say how, but it's there and I've tested it and it works (had to do it when I locked myself out of my Nexus 7 one day with the pattern security).
But, I understand the frustration, but I think it should be more directed towards having the ability to root and unroot via a given mechanism by Moto and/or Verizon. Harp on them for that, but not for fixing security issues.
But, they have answered the call to have an unlockable phone by providing "developer editions" of their phones. Granted, they are more expensive, but there is nothing that states that they HAVE to give you an unlocked phone. I would like to see them give people the ability to unlock their phones once the warranty has expired. Of course, you still have the carriers to contend with as well.
But, that's why I might go with Nexus next time. The only issue there is the lack of an SD card slot. I have a LOT of music stored on my SD card. Some would say stream, but what if you don't have an unlimited data plan? That's what keeps me from getting a Nexus phone.
I will pay 100$ who can root that .94 ota...

[Q] Can i root this phone?

Ok, my phone isn't on this website and this phone is the closest to it. I have a Droid RAZR Maxx HD. can this phone be rooted? Current phone versions are as follows:
System Version: 9.18.94.XT926.Verizon.en.US
Android Version: 4.1.2
Baseband Version: VANQUISH_BP_100730.151.64.17P
Build Number: 9.8.1Q-94
if so can anyone point me in the direction of where to find the root method? would the root method for the RAZR HD work for my phone or is every phone different? Also, are there any custom ROM's for my phone if i can root it. On all of the popular ROMs they seem to only support google and samsung devices. Any and all help is greatly appreciated!
Yes you can. As for direction, it's been discussed extensively, you should be able to find the solution right in this forum.

Hi
Thanks for writing to us at XDA Assist. A quick search allowed me to find your device forum here:
LG G Pad 8.3
I'd suggest you take a look there to find out if it can be rooted. Keep in mind that unlocking the bootloader and rooting a device usually voids the warranty, so chances are it will also affect your ability to upgrade in the future. But to find out for sure the best thing to do would be to contact your carrier.
In future you can very easily find the correct section for your device by typing the name of the device into the "type to find device" search box at the very top of the website (please see attachment).
