I was transferring some data using airdroid just few minutes ago, and suddenly the scree went completely black..
It's working fine now, thank ****. all I did was hold down the power key for like 15 seconds..what just happened ?
Should be scared ?
Edit : After it shut down, first thing I did was connect the charger, and that didn't worked .
Battery level is 93%
I am using latetest cm12 nightly..with twrp 2.8.4.1
Just to put it all out there, the phone has rebooted itself a couple of times since I bought it. ( got this in the first week of december 2014)

Nexus 5 suddenly shut down, won't boot anymore.

Hello,
A couple of weeks ago I noticed, that the battery life on my Nexus 5 was significantly worse. I used to get about 3-4 Hours onscreen time. Now I would only get 1-2.
Sometimes when it reached 0% it did not only shut down, but it also updated all Apps on startup.
Yesterday I walked home at about 11pm and wanted to check some emails, when it suddenly went black with about 80-90% left. After arriving at home I plugged it in with my charger and it booted up again, but only to the point where you see the google colors swirl around (after the google logo). I left it plugged in the whole night.
Today I checked again, it starts to boot but after 2-3 seconds it goes black and starts again at the google logo when plugged in. When not plugged in it sometimes reaches the "Updating Apps" (or updating android something similar) but also after about 10-20 seconds it again starts at the google logo. Also trying to get into recovery mode also causes it to "reboot" to the google logo after a couple of seconds..
Has anyone experienced this before? Google search only led to a broken power button, which I don't think because I Never had problemes with the on/off switch before.
I bought the phone about 1 year ago (+2 - 3 months) from the google store, do I still have warranty? (I'm from germany and the phone is rooted and the bootloader is unlocked)
Thank you in advance and have a nice week
Did you try to enter the recovery while plugged in to a charger ? If it´s still not possible, the device might be fried.
If you´re from Germany and the device is older than 1 year, you´re out of luck. Google up what "Gewährleistung" really means and you will see that chances of obtaining a free repair are very bad
All you could do now is to try to check the phone with a charger attached to it, flash a Factory Image. Replacing the battery is not as complicated if this one is faulty.
Btw, a stuck power button can also cause a device to restart itself.

That happened to me with my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2. My problem was a haywire USB cable. And another time the charger was not of enough power (I was using my phone's charger on my tab). It used to boot up for a second or two and then switch off. Get your USB cable and charger checked.
Sent from my A116 using XDA Forums PRO
Will do. Thanks for the help
If anyone else has other ideas I'd be glad to her them
If you can use another phone I'd recommend "ampere" tho check your charger and cable.

Replaced screen but bugging..

I've broken the screen on my nexus 5 the second time around now.. the first replacement went smooth but i lost my front camera.. second time around i broke it but it keept working until 2 weeks ago when it went green and stoped responding. I orderd a new one from aliexpress just instaled it today and it booted in to [LG rome flashing] i tought it was weird but i skiped it then in went from "battery charging" to the normal nexus boot screen and it stayed in a loop while turning on and off. So i tough it was weird so i tried to enter the boot loader witch i did and it worked flawsesley no turning on and off any more. now the worst part after tking it apart again it never recoverd... tell me how f'ed am I.
Turning and off could be an indication of a faulty power button.
The phone doesn't power up at all anymore? Possible loose connection?

Phone seems to be hard-bricked

Good day guys.
[EDIT] : The phone turned on now, it was just completely deprived of battery power ( I'm unsure how to delete this so I'm hoping a mod will see this and remove it as its a "false alert" )
I recently smashed my note 4 ( the seat of the car completely broke it in half, long story ), so I got a tablet that was laying around as a backup, A Samsung Tab 2 ( p3100 ), it was loaded with bloatware from my carrier so I decided to flash cyanogenmod 13 onto it... all went well and soon I booted into the new OS.
I installed the applications I needed from the play store no problem, everything seemed fine, I talked to some of my friends using the phone with absolutely no problems...
That's when I noticed it was getting low on power ( 2% ) , so I told them that I'm going to put it on charge and go to sleep ( this was well over 2 hours post-flash ) , as I reached for the charging cable, the phone showed me a blue face ( cyanogen's logo )
I proceeded to plug in the phone to charge ( thinking it was just turning off ) , but the blue guy stayed on for about another 1 minute, then the screen turned pitch-black.
( at which point the phone refused to turn on at all, no matter how long i press the power button )
I'm hoping I'm wrong, but it seemed to have hard-bricked, but seeing as the phone booted into the OS no problems etc. I'm hopeful...
Does anyone have any insights as to what's going on? can a phone brick even after extended use of the custom OS??
Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks.

BlackScreen

Hey everyone,
my phone worked perfectly until couple weeks ago the new MIUI 9 patch came out and downloaded it. It was all fine for first but when the phone eventually restarted and tried to load in for 1st time it didnt want to do it. I've waited for an hour and still nothing happened so I decided to reboot it with volume and power buttons, after that it turned on and worked perfectly. Last Saturday I was using my phone when it suddenly froze and had to reboot it, for about a hour it worked and after that it turned off and ever since than I can turn it on at all. I've tried everything reboot, factory reset everything but the screen doesnt respond to anything at all. Only thing what I know is that when I plugged it on my PC, it respond on the connection but still no answer on screen. I'm asking your help since I can't use my phone for a week and noone else has an idead in my friends what could be the problem.

Pixel 3 "shutdown" problem

Picked up my phone off the charger today (1 week old 128g pixel 3) and it just shutdown. Almost like the battery died, but it was 100%.
Turned the phone back on, booted "normal", ran about 30 - 60 seconds and shut off again!
Turned on a 2nd time, actually started ringing immediately after boot, was able to complete a full phone call then it shut down after the call was completed.
Turned on a 3rd time, made a phone call - same behavior, lasted for the whole call then shutdown.
Tired safe mode - same thing.
Went to bootloader - seems to stay alive for a long time (~1 hour) - thinking it's not hardware... tried factory reset. Reboot phone and it makes it 30-60 seconds and shuts down!
Anyone else seeing MAJOR hardware issue like this?
Same problem for myself. Started yesterday morning. Phone was just went dead after using it a couple of minutes. Called Google Fi support and getting a new phone. Phone was dead to the world. The PC would not recognize the phone when plugged in. After the phone sat for several hours I got it to power on. Started that bootloop thing so I tried restoring using twrp. The was a no-go. Then reflashed the stock image (with out the -w). No go as well. Unfortunately the phone went dead again before I could just overwrite the phone. Going to try again this morning if the phone powers on again. If not back to Google.
[UPDATE] Nuked the phone(flash-all with -w), and reloaded the Nov. firmware. So far so good. Currently going through (slowly since my WiFi is slow as molasses) the updates and restore now.
