I see a couple people but where are all the roms? google even released 2.3.4 source but I haven't seen the explosion of developement for this phone yet. despite a few issues this phone is one badass phone. after i got one without screen bleed and really sunk into it this phone is better that any android i've ever used and has features the Samsung Galaxy S 2 won't have such as nvidia tegra 2 which in my opinion is a much more solid piece of hardware and a much more well known company than the one on the SGS 2. and Smartshare, Ultra dolby digital mobile!!! this phone is the ****! plus i heard bionix was coming to this phone via team whiskey! I see faux released a rom and he doesn't even have the phone! we have a good start but....
Where are the devs!!!??? please we need you people. you guys make phones these expensive things worth purchasing for the insane amounts of money they cost. oh mighty development lords, please develope!
its called patience.
to quote the Princess Bride "I hate waiting..." lol i have patience it just doesn't seem like many have signed on yet like with the vibrant i've had for 10 months.
You also have to remember that out dev section is split between the o2x and g2x. These two forums should be combined.

Totally disagree, maybe for someone with some flashing experience yes, but for noobs it would be a total mess, flashing o2x roms on g2x phones... not to mention wrong kernels, maybe even radios...not a nice thought..

+1 would be a disaster.
I agree development is slower than I'd expected..
I was gonna make a ROM, but the stock ROM with Titanium Backup is best for me. If you build AOSP you lose the awesome Camera app that LG wrote and you lose all the cool apps that come with the G2x.
For me I just uninstall the apppack app and freeze the wifi calling app and I'm good to go.
I tried the GB build and it had GPS issues and didn't have the nice camera app.
So I'm happy with the stock setup with a few tweaks.

The Vibrant has been out for 10 months. The G2x has been out for barely 2.
Development will come.. It takes some time though. Not every Android dev has the cash to buy a new phone every time one comes out.

Closer to 3 weeks. It's amazing how some people think it is easy to develop a rom.
It would help if anyone could build a kernel from the lg source that didn't break wifi and bt. All attempts have failed.....
I actually thought the opposite, I thought development is going great!
I don't remember really seeing any major development for the Vibrant until after 2 Months!
And we already have a. 2.3.3 and a 2.3.4 Rom out!
Just saying!

i agree. guess i feel spoiled from all the vibrant support. i figured this phone would explode fast in dev. since we had root so fast and dual core, plus being a google phone. hopefully t-mobile gets off their ass and releases the official gingerbread like they promised before i purchased my phone (which was the ONLY reason i even was ok with purchasing an android 2.2 again). maybe that'll fix the problem ttabbal was talking about with the kernels.
Hello all,
I found some video's about a guy that already ported android 4.0 to its phone.
Anybody already got this rom? Here are some video's of it:
I CANT GET THOSE STUPID YOUTUBE LINKS TO WORK. so i post some url's.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YjEDY5yh90M
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w-FQUsQeO5Y&feature=player_embedded
Hope this port gets on XDA. cant wait to test it.
Will update this topic.
Sorry for my bad english, i'm a dutch guy.

Nothing yet.
Things that we know:
The developer, Ricardo, does not like to release Roms unless they are fully working. We all hope this wont take too long.
It's a CM9 Build.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1426119 From ChuSoft is a GIANT FAKE.(runs on a themed gingerbread with gingerbread kernel)
It is CM9 ROM. The developer, Ricardo, does not like to release Roms unless they are fully working, not like others who posts Roms in alfa stages. So, we have to wait until he releases it, and I hope it won't take too much.
Oww ok. Will post that in the log. hopefully he releases it FAST. maybe there is a way to contact him?

Are you serious, nexus has 1.2 ghz dual core procesor and 1gb of ram,and much more powerfull graphics.
I will wait for ricardo to go out with his fully working rom, better than alpha releases where almost nothing is working.
We just need to hope that he is going to release it soon

True...cpu is basically the same but clocked @1.2Ghz instead of 1Ghz
same goes to [email protected] MHz instead of 304MHz
but i guess the reason from what i understood of other members here is due porting lg 3D framework to other roms...that's why we are not getting much ports
although even without 3D the phone has awesome specs ...that's why i really love it

I bought this phone not because 3D function or 2 cameras,I bought it because it has good specification,3D for me is just nice additional feature wich I used first day and never turned it again...
I hope that developers will be more interested in him when CM7 Stable comes out, then there's possibility to port MIUI
I'm really looking forward to CM9 too

I think Google has dropped the ball with Android by not requiring phone manufacturers to enable their hardware to run strictly vanilla Android without any difficulty. If Google had done that, every phone which has the basic hardware for a specific version of Android would have it now. Open Source Android and Linux is a farce because manufacturers have made them essentially closed source due to not releasing the source code for their drivers, etc. May as well have an iPhone.

At least the iPhone is less frustrating because it is a closed system that can't be modified except by Apps and, even then, only those which comply with Apple's requirements unless the phone is jailbroken. I've got an iPod Touch 2nd generation, jailbroken, which I still use and enjoy using but I highly doubt I will still be using the G2X for as long.

I wish I had your optimism. These 3 that are playing in the arena are good. VERY good, but I don't believe Google or LG or nVidia has given us enough to work with to get the radio going. Call it the pessimist in me.

You know what's nice with android phones ? You want a overclocked kernel, I can make you one. You want good battery life, I can make something out for you. You want your favourite theme, download it. You want to install a incompatible OS update, give thanks to your devs and they'll make it compatible for you . You want a ROM with nice flames when it boots, then give thanks to your favourite ROM cooker out there.
You want a iPhone, then you get a iPhone, that's it. Gotta like apples.

I'm sorry to announce that I no longer own a working P920. Funny as it may sound, my 15 month old son threw it in the toilet!!! That's actually something I wanted to do since the ghost-calls days but I never dared because of the phone's price! So, I am now happy with my HTC Evo 3D (which I was already using as my main phone) and I've lost my toy!
I didn't really expect to leave these threads this way but hey, life is unexpected! I've had a great time being a member of this community although I can't say the same about the phone itself.
Big thanks to all the great developers that gave life to this device. Big shame to LG that let it fade away like this. I don't want to thank people one by one right now, 1st because I'll get emotional and 2nd because they are so many and I'm afraid I might leave someone out!
So, see you all around in another thread. Have fun with your present and future devices and keep learning and developing. Don't forget; Everything roots!

I could test for you. I'm currently running stock rooted ICS 4.0.3 S-ON but I might consider going S-OFF and running KitKat in DualBoot.
The Evo3D enjoys a custom made 3D library which can enable the 3D panel in AOSP based ROMs but, by now, there's no way to use the 3D camera. If you can manage to make FreeDCam work on 4.0+ ROMs on the Evo3D it will be a 1st!
Feel free to PM me. I can't code but I'll help in any way I can.
its already running on each device >= 4.0. i only have to add the opensense sdk 3d parts. theoreticaly i can also add that custom lib for cm roms.
but this is work for the new year i pm you when its done.

I cant wait. I've tried a couple of the 5.0 ROMs, but nothing works super smoothly yet. I'm excited to hear that stock Lollipop is coming soon. Of course we will need someone to get it and modify it and bump it so that we don't have to flash the stock upgrade which might make rooting and bumping harder. This will also really help the 5.0 ROM developers since they should be able to take the base kernel from AT&T and make their ROMS run even smoother.

I'm not picky, but I hope it's more than 5.0. Android is already on 5.0.2. which fixes a lot of bugs.
