Idea for an Applocker (if it doesn't exist yet) - General Topics

Hi,
I was hunting for an applocker a while ago, and I had some ideas for a couple of features.
1) When accessing the locked app, it should show an error message like "Access Denied : File checksum failed" or something with a lot of error codes to confuse a non-techie person instead of straight up asking for a password. (custom error messages if possible)
2a)Now to unlock that app, you have to go into the dialer and type your chosen unlock code. Use a special symbol to unlock only for 5 minutes, or unlock completely until manual re-locking.
2b) Ability to set a button and screen password combination. Eg/- To unlock gallery, tap the right corner of the screen twice, then press the volume up button 3 times. Something along these lines.
3)Hides itself from the Apps section in Settings, app drawer and recent apps. Only way to uninstall is from the app itself (I think this is a common feature.)
4) Essentially an inconspicuous applocker. - Asks for password but looks like an error message. I think this could be nice and slick..
I'm not knowledgeable enough to build such an app myself....
What do you guys think? If such an app already exists, please link me to it.
Thanks.

Nice thinking.
Though point one has already been implemented by most app locks.

So has been point two.
Point three is common like you said.
And point four is just the error feature which has already been done.
Keep thinking though.

Hi, thanks for your reply!
Glad to see someone has done this!
And -
Could you tell me what app has the error message feature?
Is it the app in the second screenshot?
I want something which not only locks gallery but also SMS and Whatsapp. Can those apps do this?
EDIT: The second screenshot looks like it uses the passcode to open the app locker itself (if I'm not mistaken). I meant unlocking a locked app.

All the features you talked about are scattered. All of them are not present in one app.
But the best lock I would say is Vault.
It has the dialer feature, you can even put a fake vault which is completely empty incase someone forces you to open it. Then it also has a feature which can help u lock conversations both from the messaging service and even Facebook conversations. Hope it helps.

Can we remove the Emergency Call button from the pattern unlock screen yet?

With all of the new developments with the lock screen, I was wondering if anyone has re-looked into removing the 'Emergency Call' button from the lockscreen?
Would be greatly appreciated if someone can figure that one out
I don't use a pattern unlock. Are you talking about HTC's unlock or vanilla?
Edit: Nevermind, it's apparently the same for both. I told you I never use it. lol
Yeah, they're both the same.
If you Google it, there's dozens if not hundreds of people asking for this to be removed -- so many accidental 911 calls while trying to unlock, or calling from people's pockets. Occasionally I unlock with my left hand and dragging around on the screen isn't as precise. I've almost called them myself.
Well this one is beating me so far. haha. I removed the actual emergency "+" no problem. But the text and button are currently winning. lol. I am transferring my site between hosts now and need to work on that as it could take time. But this is now on my "must figure it out" list.
on the hero it brings up a dialer, it won't directly dial 911, did that on the samsung moment accidently before i got the hero
Good news / bad news....
After doing a lot of digging (it wasn't in the normal places for removing stuff like this) I was able to find the button! The reason it's not in the normal places is it's actually a widget; which I found interesting.
The down side is that removing it will crash the phone on bootup. I'll play with it more but for now I really need to work on moving my site.
Nice detective work! Could a blank widget that does nothing when clicked take it's place?
Yea, I second/third/fourth/hundredth this request. I cannot tell you how many times I've pocket dialed ######*****38472938471928374982 to "Emergency" from the unlock pattern screen. Quite friggin' annoying if you ask me.
With the hack to kill the Menu Menu bypass this doesn't seem to be so much an issue any more but I would still rather see the button either made really small or removed.
Saw the other post about the emergency call button being removed on vanilla lockscreen.
Can it be done with the pattern unlock screen?
Thanks

wait, where is this menu menu bypass?
Just saw this thread, and since I had the hood up on the applicable framework file, for the clear vanilla lockscreen, figured I'd take a look.
Are you guys looking for something like this ?

This "fix" has been incorporated directly into the vanilla lockscreen zips posted here.
Also you can make it go to your dialer, then you can use it as a "iforgot my lock pattern call a friend and see if they know it" lol ill edit with a link in a little bit

The pattern function unlock is not part of the HtcLockScreen. It is in the android.policy.jar file, which is what I have posted.
If you are running the stock lockscreen, just flash Option #2, and then you don't have to worry about the second half for modifying the XML file. That is for the Vanilla lockscreen only, though it certainly won't hurt.
Is there anyway to remove the Emergency Call button from just the regular non-HTC lockscreen? Because for some godknowswhat reason, they decided to put it RIGHT OVER the unlock button... you can test this by putting your phone in airplane mode, then taking it out, and then you'll get No SIM as the carrier, and Emergency Call "so conveniently" placed.

That was a bug that caused it to show up after disabling and enabling airplane mode. I posted a fix in J's thread that he linked earlier and he integrated it in to his patches.
Thanks flipz, I'll look around for it.

tasker profile: send me an email

been reading some topics about this and i already have some work done but for some reason, i cannot see where i am failing.
i have python and sl4a installed. i also have the sl4a profile uploaded to its folder.
i already made a profile to take a picture if the lock pattern is wrong (2x).
this is done without problems, a picture is taken and put inside the DCIM/tasker folder.
the problem is that i never receive the email with the picture. it says "email_user" missing and i have already put my name in there! tried my name, my email address without @gmail.com, etc.
tips?
(i have followed this link http://tasker.wikidot.com/automatically-take-and-email-your-photo but also other posts regarding it). i am clueless.

Let us know if you manage that....
I'm thinking of setting up a 30 minute update of location.... I have prey installed but we had a phone out of signal and lost and we couldn't locate it. Because we'd travelled around a bit that day, we dont even know whoch town it was lost in. A 30 minute update of location could be very useful...
To get GPS location in the same Email, wouldn't the following work? (in addition to what you have already) - so, this would go between 6 and 7 of what rootSU posted.
GPS (on)
Get Location (GPS, 100)
Variable Set %EMAIL_BODY to The device is currently at %LOC
I use something similar, but I don't use Email - I use SMS instead.
So, if my phone is lost, I send a specific message to my phone from any phone. Upon receipt of that specific message, tasker will enable GPS, get GPS location, send back text message to the %SMSRF (SMS sender) with the current location, without saving that reply text message to message history.

that 30 min update is very well thought. i managed to receive an email but still no coordinates. i have to look into this better. after i get that sorted, a 30 minute update with the correct coordinates is the next step... and keep the updates coming until the correct pattern lock is inserted. that would be very good.

[App][7.0+][PREV] Direct reply and Dismiss notification/drawer

Hey everybody!
If you're running Android Nougat, you might be often using the Direct Reply feature for responding messages right from Notification Drawer. Once you've replied, you're still right there in the notification drawer. May be that's where you want to be, or may be not:
So, here is an extremely small utility App that basically lets you customize the behavior of the 'Send' button on your replies.
See it in action in this short clip:
I am still experimenting with the functionality, thought it would be a good idea to show a preview to the community. Please let me know what you think about it. Also suggest me a easily recognizable name for the App
*reserved*
*reserved 2*
This is a great idea! Wish I had thought of it, will be very convenient. Any way for us to get it now to try out?
I like the name QuickDismiss, but maybe that's just me
How about DirectDismiss? Looks like a great app, looking forward to trying it out!

I like the idea but the implementation from android isn't good because most of the time you still have to open the app itself. Just want to give you an example.
If you get more than one message you cannot expand them in notification drawer (I know there was a xposed module for that, but we're talking about android 7 = no xposed (yet)). So you have to open the app to read all incoming messages.
If you answer to the message you were able to read in notification drawer the message gets dismissed. If you want to send another statement you again have to open the app itself.
If you could expand the messages, answer (as always after the last incoming message) and still be able not to dismiss the message would be a real improvement to the feature.

Apparently, many Apps on Nougat are yet to implement proper notification creation for Nougat. For instance, WhatsApp just fixed it in their beta - https://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/5nt5ue/whatsapp_beta_21713_finally_fixes_notifications/

Looks like something to do with the weather, you have a storm/rain forecast on the other widget
Check different weather apps / widgets

Yes, it's removable. It's a blue GPS raindrop/teardrop trying to locate your current location for an app (lication).
Do the following:
1. Go to home screen and TAP bottom right (APPS), and proceed to SETTINGS.
2. TAP SETTINGS.
3. OPEN CONNECTIONS and TAP BLUETOOTH [2nd option] OFF (Just momentarily)
4. TAP LOCATION [9th option] OFF (Just momentarily) while still in Connections via SETTINGS.
5. In Settings go into NOTIFICATIONS to TURN OFF ALL APPS Getting Notifications (Just temporarily)
6. Last go into Settings, DEVICE MANAGEMENT and FIX ALL that is needed or where you see a number. Once your device is at 90% or higher, BEST @ 100%, THE GPS RAINDROP/TEARDROP IS GONE.
Problem Solved.
Now you can proceed to turn on whatever you want on, such as:
Bluetooth On,
Location On, and
ALL APPS Notifications ON (Pushable).

I searched google for a few days in a row, but I did not find anything about it
Maybe it's more related with a bug in the system UI, because to me it doesn't look like a blue drop, but more like those "handles" to select text, don't you think?
If you remove your Clock/Weather widget, does the drop still appear? It could be a bug with your widget.
Also, if you try to click that "blue drop", what happens?
It seems like you've used an alternative launcher, an alternative clock/weather widget, alternative icons etc... So to investigate this, I would start looking in the apps I installed that have something to do with the customization of the home screen.
I hope this helps ; )
Blue tear drop
I got this in the middle of the home screen. Tapping it moved it to the top left. I rebooted into safe mode then from settings-apps-advanced-apps that can appear on top, disabled ones I thought had no need to do this. Skyp and samsung pay are two I don't use and disabled this permission (amongst others). Upon rebooting, the drop is gone. I should maybe pin this down to find the exact app but can't be bothered. Also this is disabling the drop but possibly not whatever it was representing.
Hope this helps.
It is a bug from messenger. Idk why, but if you're using the chat heads, you're typing something, and then minimize the chat, this blue drop can appear. I guess it's a bug from s7 Nougat, because since I updated to Oreo this bug has never happened to me again. But if you're on Nougat yet, you can do these steps to remove the drop:
1: In the recent apps tab, messenger must be there. If it is not, then open messenger, and go to home screen again.
2: Grab the messenger chat heads, and slide it into the bottom of the screen to remove it.
3: Now go to the recent apps tab, and remove messenger.
This should close messenger, and the blue drop should be gone.
I guess you can also go into settings, apps, messenger, and force stop, then the blue drop will be gone as well(but doing the steps above is easier), and then you just open messenger again, and whenever this drop appears, you just close messenger again.
Forse stop Facebook messenger and open it again
Its a bug ?

Block ads in messenger

Hey all, figured this out a few days ago and seems to have worked, so figured I'd pass it along. This method eliminates sponsored posts in Facebook Messenger. ONLY WORKS ON ROOTED DEVICES.
1. Open terminal, and get superuser access by typing
su
2. am start -n "com.facebook.orca/com.facebook.messaging.internalprefs.MessengerInternalPreferenceActivity"
3. Scroll down until you see
Gatekeeper Override
4. Search the word
sponsored
5. Find the entry in the search results
Android_messenger_sponsered_msg_report_flow
And tap it to toggle. Force stop messenger or reboot.
You're welcome

I believe it's because of the directory in which you are executing. Try changing directory to the root directory
I tried using "cd" command but got error that "home not set"?
I've been looking for something like that for weeks. I'm having troubles to follow your instructions. Could you share screenshots for example please?
Clarify from what folder we have to execute these commands?
And also, is it normal there is a space here : ".MessengerInte rnal"
Thank you.
Thanks!
Thank you so much, icedventimocha! Worked a treat. :good:
Btw, as Tomatot- noted, there shouldn't be a space in the middle of the word Internal when starting the activity in step 2.
Command worked when I ran it (without the space), and then after a force close, I still get adverts in messenger.
Alas, it has stopped working. Android_messenger_sponsored_msg_report_flow is still turned off on the above settings page, but ads are back.
Doesn't work anymore just tried it, android_messenger_ad_context_handler found that entry but sadly didnt kill ads even tried clearing cache and data before attempting.

Hi guys,
I think I've found a way to remove ads in Messenger. You need root
1) Download and install My Android Tools: https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/wangq...my-android-tools-0-11-1-android-apk-download/
2) Open it, click on the left hamburger menu, open "service", go to Messenger and deactivate "AdsMessengerService", "AdsProcessPriorityService".

Didn't work for me unfortunately. Ads are still there. N910F, X-note Kitkat ROM.
