[Q] SetCPU not setting all cores??? plz help - Android Apps and Games

Hey i have tried an app called setCPU and i am trying to underclock my galaxy s4, however when i set my CPU speeds lower i still notice the other cores of my device turning on and going above the set speed. is there somthing i am missing? or is there a way to control each core?

You are custom kernel or custom rom?

auto downclock cpu when device sleeping?

can anyone do this?
+1 on that.. although i can't really see a stable running hd2 with that..
i m currenly using "leo cpu speed" n set my cpu working with 998 mhz.. i really wish it could auto down to about 400 when device sleeping..
so? no ones can help? =(
I don't think there is much going on with the cpu while the device is sleeping. As such, there may not be any benefit to trying to downclock the cpu only while the device is sleeping.
but i have set it to run with 998mhz all the time.. so i think better to downclock when it is sleeping rite?

[Q] Setcpu crashing at 1.9Ghz?

I try and set my sensation to 1.9 (1.89)ghz on setcpu. Right after i set it up, the phone reboots and the setting is lost. I tried different apps but nothing changes. i have a custom setcpu setting and still nothing happens. It only works when i overclock to something under 1.9. Anyone else having the same problem? Disable perflock isn't working for me. If thats the solution, how to fix it?
Running SENSEaY - XE35 v2.1.0 with Bricked 1.5 kernel.

Sounds like you weren't aware that 1.7GHz and higher aren't considered stable freqs, 1.9GHz has a high Voltage which may cause the kernel to panic and issue a reboot. Just stick with a lower freq around the 1.2 stock speed.

Any CPU aren't the same. It seem that your CPU can't handle that much clock speed. Speed on 1.9 and 1.782 Ghz are quite the same. (Quadrant might shows couple hundreds higher but not effect any everyday uses.)

Thanks for the heads up. Where'd you hear that? i dont remember reading about it. Is there a way to make 1.9ghz work?
What benefits will 1.9GHz provide other than wearing down your battery faster?

Just looking at that voltage table and my experiences with that freq from past phones tells me so . Jumping from the low level to such a high one should cause a freeze on any device.
@LooieEng 1.9GHz may help this phone run future Android revisions smoothly, and perhaps Win8 will function on the phone too.

[Q] How to change clock speed on stock Verizon Samsung GS3

I have two stock Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3's. Both are running System Tuner. Neither CPU is running at speeds above 1GHz, despite the fact that each should be capable of 1.5GHz. I've tried increasing clock speed using ST and am unsuccessful. I've rooted one using the procedure at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2046439, and am still unable to get the CPU to run at anything above 1GHz. I've installed SetCPU, and still no success. I select 1500Hz, but SetCPU max remains at 1026Hz, even with "set at boot" selected and after restarts.
Questions:
- is this a limitation imposed by VZW or the kernel running on the phone?
- is it considered "overclocking" just to get the CPU to run at speeds higher than what it currently does (i.e. 1GHz) even if those higher speeds (up to 1.5GHz) are within the advertized specs of the CPU?
- what is needed to get past this? Is it even possible to increase clock speeds using the stock kernel/ROM, or is another kernel or ROM needed?
Thanks.

Never tried to OC stock kernel although some say you can if have root. Sure you are not on Power Saver mode. Will clock down to like 1100.

That's exactly what it was. I was only checking the governor settings with the CPU and never checked or thought about the Android level "Power Saver" mode. Once I unchecked the CPU box under "Power Saver", I was able to get much better speeds out of the CPU.
Thank you very much.

CPU max speed keeps reverting to 1190Mhz?

This is a really strange problem. Over the past few days, my device keeps resetting its maximum CPU speed to 1190Mhz, no matter what app I use to set the max speed; I've tried no-frills, trickstermod, and the built in cm performance settings.
I assumed it was the kernel, but then i switched kernels; i assumed it was the ROM, but then I switched ROMs; I assumed it was an app, but I factory reset and still the same. What else could it be?

i think its normal. you don't have any problems with it right? you can change profiles like 'performance' or 'interactive' if your rom allows you to do this.
think it's probably thermal throttling - use cpy spy, or something that monitors CPU speeds and check

Are checking set on reboot in the overclock menu? You lose your overclock on most roms if this is not checked.

Yeah, I think that's it; I finally got no-frills to force it to stay at 2.4ghz and thermal throttle in logcat was whining about not being able to set the CPU speed.

[Q] XT1032 CPU Frequencies won't stick

That's the problem. No matter what rom I flash, what kernel I use or what app I install to manage cpu frequencies, they just won't stick. My CPU is always at 1190 MHz Min / 1190 MHz Max, and when I try to change the min value, it'll only remain changed for a few seconds, then it just goes back to 1190.
Also, when I use a CPU manager app to see every core individual frequency, immediately the third and fourth core go off when I open said app.
I don't know if my device is defective. I haven't dropped it or anything, if I need to say it. Please tell me if this happened to somebody else or what can I do. Thanks everyone.
Qualcomm hard-limited the max CPU frequency in the Snapdragon 400. At least the variant used in the Moto G. You cannot overclock it.
I don't want to overclock it, I want to underclock it. At least I want to decrease the min frequency.
Ah, though I assume the same applies. The SoC won't listen to / obey requests to change those.
I have heard that it is just a visual issue. In fact if you use trickster mod or similar, you will see that most of the time the processor is not running at 1190

I think so, that sounds more realistic.
Thanks for the replies, I have found a solution after all, it was all about that thing called "mpdecision". When I turned it off with a particular CPU manager, I was able to change my settings without any problem.
