I used SHIELD RAM to reflash back to stock (was previously rooted on KitKat) which went fine but I can't convince the Shield to get any updates, it just says "Your system is up to date".
I tried doing a factory reset from Recovery Mode but still nothing. I wondered if something had gone wrong so I ran RAM again and did another full restore but am still having the same problem. Help?
I did reset erase all data in options and that appeared to fix the problem for me. What happened was the OTA update wouldn't download

Thanks eikast, I've just tried that too but the problem remains. If I go to Settings -> About Shield -> System Updates -> Check Now it simply says "Your system is up to date" even though it's running 4.3 (build no JSS15J.01.00.14422.0068)

I'm in the UK. I managed to get some help from Josh at Nvidia and he reset the OTA flag their end and the update popped up instantly. It seems Nvidia add devices which have had the update (or think have had it) to a 'group' which can then prevent those devices seeing it again.

This has happened to me quite a few times... simply use it a few days, it will eventually tell you to update. Other than that, I've never gotten it to manually see the update.
Clearing the data for Google services worked for me.

Hello,
So I finally got the notification to download OTA Lollipop today, which I did. Problem is, when I went to install it, the phone restarted, an ERROR screen popped up. I restarted the phone, the update wasn't installed and now when I "Check for Updates" it says I'm up to date.
How can I install the update without side-loading it?

I had the exact same issue but it sounds like a good thing it didn't update from all the issues everyone keeps posting all over the net. Is your device rooted? OTA only works on completely stock devices I read somwhere.
I too ran into this problem. But before i returned my phone to stock i converted it to kali linux. At first i thought it was an encryption issue, so i restored my phone. I still received the error message.
To install kali linux i had to unlock the boot loader, then flash the software. I returned to stock by wiping, flashing stock, then locking the boot loader.
With Xposed not supporting 5.0 I am thinking of stating 4.4.4
I want to stay at 4.4.4. Can't get rid of the Update nag -- and I've tried everything.

I found my problem. My gps.conf file was edited by Faster GPS. I forgot to revert before the OTA and thus my error occurred. I hope this helps.
I'm still getting the same issue after supposed install:
I've had the OTA notification for a while but it won't install. It downloads and then when it does the reboot I see it trying to update then I get the 'Red Triangle'. It reboots again back to 4.4.4
Phone was rooted but still using the stock ROM so I did a factory restore, I'm still getting the same issue.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

Hi,
I have rooted my phone a few month ago and when my phone switched off to apply the 5.1 OTA update it booted in the recovery (TWRP v2.8.6.0).
I don't know what to do there so I tried to Reboot>System.
But ~1 min after the phone is normally booted (I see no 5.1 update was applied), the phone just tells me it's rebooting and I'm back at the recovery screen.
I probably shouldn't have applied the 5.1 update while rooted.
Any idea on what I could do to fix this?
(maybe select a zip to update from the recovery?)
(or delete some file?)
Thanks!
What if I do
Install > /cache/Blur_Version.220.27.1.falcon_umts.TescoSL.en.GB.zip
?

TWRP doesn't support installing official OTA updates. It might work, it might fail, or it might brick your phone. I'd guess it will fail because some of your files on /system are modified.

Good thing I asked before doing it then.
Is there something I can do to revert the OTA update? i.e. remove this file and prevent the reboot.

Note that this is untested, but wiping /cache in TWRP should do it. Maybe make a backup before, just in case. Also note that the ROM may try to re-download the OTA. I don't have any experience with the Moto G yet, so take what I say with a grain of salt.

Well now it's tested
You rock! it seems to work.
It did not reboot.
then a message appeared : "failure of the software update" with an ok button.
then a bit later he asked me if I wanted to make the software update like this morning and I was able to say "not now".
Thanks a lot, I owe you one.
Finally the September Security Patch is available for the Style. Hope Nougat is on the way soon.
How many threads about a September security patch that is now 4 months old do we need? Not very impressive to get the September patch in January in my opinion. If anything, the release of a security patch for Marshmallow now doesn't give me much hope that we will see Nougat in the near future. I hope I'm wrong, but I feel like we are getting screwed.
Moto does security patches in 1/4 by 1/4 updates so roughly every three months. Also they are usually a 1/4 behind the most recent.

Motorola/Lenovo never committed to a release schedule.
If u have the captured ota pls share it here
Xt 1572 Retasia Ds
False expectations that it was Nougat update, turns out to be just a security update for September month.
Moto updates slowly turning out to be a just a regular name any oem. No reliability for the software updates.
Day by day getting disappointed by Moto series ??

I am aware of that however past performance while not indicative or proof of future performance says they have been sticking to an every 3 to 4 month schedule on Moto X line for security updates.

I did full unroot from within the su app before remove twrp. Don't want to restore full stock image. May be I will wait till N is released. Now if there is a way to disable the nagging update notification

If you used root to make any change to the system partition (like Xposed, or even some simple things like the GSAM root battery_stats monitor), you cannot take an OTA successfully. The script checks to see if the system partition has been modified, or possibly just ever mounted R/W, and will refuse to continue and will result in an error in recovery like you see.
If the condition occurs like you are seeing, the only recourse is to restore to pure stock by flashing the factory images or restoring a pre-root TWRP backup.

The only way to do is flash stock.. else wipe cache partition and disable notification for Moto Update app. It wont bother you anymore.

True, I meant the only way to take the OTA update was to go back to stock... I neglected to mention that you can restore functionality to the device by just wiping caches.
I got the Security Update today too @ XT1572
ATT here got it today as well.

You can do a minimal factory restore to satisfy the checks for the OTA. Just reflash the partitions most likely modified (recovery, system, boot) and the OTA should succeed. This assumes you're not running an alternate modem or haven't tinkered with any other partitions (besides the logo, that's fine to leave altered).
See ace's nice post @ https://forum.xda-developers.com/mo...de-return-to-stock-relock-bootloader-t3489110, and just execute the lines from boot.img to system.img_sparsechunk.8 with the appropriate 6.0 (May) files.
Has anyone from India received this update? I download RETASIA DS verison of this ROM and flashed it, however I'm getting no wifi and can't find an alternate download link. And obviously now I can't flash an older verison and then update using OTA

What Moto Update app??? I don't see such a thing listed under Apps in settings.
Hi Guys,
I had recently updated my Oneplus One to 5.0.2 through OTA system updates. Now I wanted to update the same to 5.1.1 (i.e OS 12.1). But the problem is that I am not able to see the system updates anymore. It says the System is up to date whereas it's not the case in reality. It also asks to update cyanogen recovery, which I ignore. Attaching the snapshots of device for your reference.
The device is NOT rooted. I tried switch OFF and Switch ON multiple times. I also manually force stopped the System Update app, cleared it's cache, disabled it then enabled it. tried all combinations for the same. But no luck.
Can someone please advice what should I do to see the system updates as usual the way I was seeing earlier? Thanks for your help.
Its seems images are not visible. I have raised the same question on OPO forums. Here is the link to see the images: https:// forums.oneplus.net/threads/oneplus-one-ota-system-updates-not-working-shows-no-update.500862/
Well As you Know CyanogenMod Died so that's why you can't find any updates

Thanks a lot for this information. In that thread, its mentioned that "there are two different versions of some OTA updates." In such a case can I go ahead and install any of the zip file? I will be downloading the incremental updates which are similar to System updates. Please let me know.

Thanks a lot for your reply. I actually have that app and it shows me the new update for 5.1.1 too. But the issue is when I first tried to update thru this app from kitkat to 05Q update, it somehow messed up my device. The zip installed was somehow corrupt due to which the installation had issues. Thats why I am actually worried to take that risk again.
That screwed up installation thru that app was the reason why I switched to OTA system updates which updated from 05Q to 5.0.2 lollypop. And now I cant see cyanogen system updates as it seem to have died.
Are you sure that app has no issues at all? Have you updated till 5.1.1 or 6.0.1 using that app? Please let me know.

Thanks a lot for your help man. But flashing and factory reset will wipe the mobile data I guess. I don't really want to do that. I need to keep the mobile data intact. Also, will it be advisable to jump from 5.0.2 to 6.0 directly? Or should I go incrementally only?

I can also see the full update option. But if I do full update directly, will it wipe all data from my device? I am not sure about it. Can you confirm whether your data was wiped when you updated from Kitkat to the latest marshmallow thru this App? That would help me decide. Or if anyone else can confirm the same, that would also help.
