the s-pen: recommendable apps for editing photos? - Note Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

straight to the point; (or question, rather):
every now and then i tend to doodle a bit in photoshop, just for fun.
my note edge is brand new, so i haven't really gotten to test it that much as of yet.
i have tried out the s-pen applications included by samsung, but i'm currently looking
for any application that can open a photo or image on my phone, so i could either edit it
(or in this particular case add my signature).
for me it's great to have the s-pen at hand, as i could easily transfer any artwork or photos to my phone
and add my signature there. question is, what's the easiest way to do this?
and one second question:
if i find myself in need of adding my signature quite often, instead of making a new unique signature each time i need it,
would it be possible to create a signature with the s-pen on a transparent background, so it could easily be pasted into
any given photo or picture? i hope i'm making sense here.
would adobe photoshop touch be winner here?
any reply would be highly appreciated

I use facetune for editing pics. Your finger or pen will do.

well facetune is probably a great app don't get me wrong, but i highly doubt it's what i'm looking for.
as stated above i'd really love to know if there is any possible way of creating my own signature with the s-pen in
any given application that could support a transparent background.
i've been testing the s-note application, but this oddly enough does not seem to support transparency.
kind of dumb, as it would open up a vast amount of possibilites, and in my particular case the ability
to create my own signature, and then save it in a image file with transparency. this way i would
be able to paste my signature into documents, photos etc with only a few clicks.
i guess i'll just save my signature with a blank background, and cut it out in photoshop :silly:

The closest app I have found to Photoshop for android is Autodesks Sketchbook Pro. It came free with the Note 3. I also bought the name version, but ended up installing the version from my Note 3 to my Edge because the name version wouldn't open the pdf I created with the Note 3 version. I 'think' you can create images with blank backgrounds.
Anyway, Sketchbook is a must have for image editing/creation in the Android environment.

Photoshop touch works well too, check out the Samsung galaxy note 10.1 forum as you might find the app floating around...

Photoshop Touch
I would have to say Photoshop Touch is your answer here, i got it for free when i bought my galaxy note 10.1 and after rooting the tab i extracted the .apk from it and installed it on every android device i have. if you do not have access to a rooted stock note 10.1 then i am sure someone can hook you up. i have it in my dropbox but i am unable to post links so... perhaps you can torrent it or something though if no one else can help. I havent tried to find it this way since i have it already though..

"iAnnotate PDF" App on the GN?

Does anybody have any idea when/if the "iAnnotate PDF" App will be actually available in the "S Choice" on the "Galaxy Note"?
This is an iPad App and it's site says there is no Android version yet, but it's featured here:
samsung.com/global/microsite/galaxynote/note/applications.html
as a major app... However it is not pre-installed on my phone and is not available, as far as I can tell. Some other apps featured here are available, but this one is not. Not yet, anyway.
I've noticed that launching Samsung Apps requires the SIM in place. So is it possible that this App is available in Samsung Apps store if accessed from, say UK, but not when accessed from US?
Thanks.
P.S. I live in US, but my Galaxy Note came from Germany.
That site you linked clearly states that the apps mentioned as "Coming Soon".
This could be one good app for us

that app does look very nice considering it might have weight effect on the pen. Unfortunately i have been using a pdf nnotator on the noe which didnt have a weight effect but i recently had to remove everything from sd card because i was getting too many adverts and it kept turning off randomly.
I want that old pdf annotator back now! i think i had one in word as well, it was very nice.
the reason i am here though is im interested in the best way to look at multiple pdfs and multitask! would it just be a case of using like four different viewers?? i think i am answering my own quesion really, unless there is a way two have an application open twice.

That's funny...
The "(coming soon)" next to some Apps wasn't there earlier.
Now it's pretty clear that their release is simply delayed.
As a matter of fact, Goodreader for ipad is the best annotate pdf app out there.
it has a useful feature to extract all text highlited both with goodreader, with adobe acrobat, even with the galaxy note only worthy program for pdf editing: ezPDF.
even adobe acrobat can't extract highlighted text content (if it's not highlited in adobe).
basically, i am saying that iAnnotate functions are all there with ezPDF for android. i've tried also repligo reader but pen interaction is bad and everytime you lift the pen while ending the highlight, the text is deselected again.
what i am doing now is using dropbox to get the pdf, annotate and stickynote with ezPDF, then saving back to dropbox, edit them if necessary with adobe reader, then when all editing is done, i use GoodReader to extract just the annotation and sending them via eMail back to me.
got it?
PV.
nice work. will definitely look into this methodology at some point, presumably you have an ipad stuck on your desk then ?
i know what you are saying about adobe not even being able to highlight highlighted text aswell thats really annoying.
my first step is to re-install ezpdf because i accidently uni stalled it ..
although we're all screwed over with no pressure sewnsitivty in the note's ezpdf, iannotate will solve this though no-one likes writing then highlighting the whole thing to delete too!
I want this app as well... in the hope its a bit better than the .10c Ez PDF Reader Pro I bought...
"Lite" version of this App is finally available!
I think it's not compatible with our Note.
Edit: I finally downloaded app from Samsung App, looks promising but still too simple, I hope this app will be properly developed to reach the same quality as on iPad.

It works on mine, but it's pretty basic. They promise to keep adding features in the coming months...
yes it is, I have it installed, you need to get it from the Samsung market, not the Google/Android one.
Could someone generously provide the apk? Thanks in advance.
FYI, the "iAnnotate PDF" has been available from the Market for awhile now. It is more stable and has more options than the "iAnnotate Lite" version available from the "S Choice".
True, I didn't see it on the play store though, but I have seen it in the S-Choise.

I tried iAnnotate and wasnt that impressed.
I've settled on QPDF Notes really good, allows me to annotate, drawing, scribble, highlight, you name it. :good:

[Q] Supernote on Tab 7 plus?

I am trying to find a good note taking app to go along with my GT-P6210, and I came across the Supernote app on the Asus Transformer. I have heard some great things about it, but I can't find it in the app market. Does anyone know if its compatible with the Tab 7 plus?
Also, if you know of any good note taking apps for a college environment, feel free to suggest. I am looking to be able to make bullets and sub bullets (something evernote cant do) and I would like to be able to write or draw directly into my notes with a stylus.
Evernote w/ skitch allows me to write/draw, but the downfall is that it groups all my drawings seperate from my notes.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Supernote is specific to that tablet but there is an extracted apk though it's not optimized for our tab. Search the forums for it.
You can try quill.

I looked up quill and I may be wrong, but it looks like you can only write. But I found a Supernote apk so ill try that out and let you guys know how it is.
It's working, but not fit to screen... deleted.
Supernote is such a good app...........but it doesn't fit the screen. The sidebar gets cut off so you can't use certain features. It would be amazing if it was optimized for our size tablets
I like Supernote so much I've adapted to using it on the GTP with parts of the app being off screen. I'm hoping that if Asus ever releases the Memo 7" tablet to market there will be a version of Supernote for it. They've teased it at the 2011 & 2012 CES.
alternative to supernote
The app that I use more is Catch Notes, cause it lets me syncro with my phone, but it is not on the same league.
Give GNotes a try. I just recently discover it. It has bullets, you can type, handwrite, attach a picture, a video or some sound.
But actually, I was so busy trying to find a good app, that I didn't realize how good the stock application included in the tablet is. I'm taking about the one that can be found in the bottom bar. You can attach pictures, you can synchronize (haven't try yet), you can write anyplace in the sheet, handwrite (better than GNotes) and it floats on top of the other windows, allowing you to take notes while you are reading an article, for example.

I totally agree with you. The stock app is totally good! It even syncs well with Google docs.

I have no scrapbook option when using the s pen to take a screen shot, which leads me to believe it is an app you installed, or is country specific, and would probably be found with the rest of your apps.

Are you not on jelly bean?
Scrapbook is a new feature with jellybean. It resides in S Note, but you will need to save something to it before it shows the folder for the first time. I don't have it on my note 10.1 yet but do have on my note 2 phone and really love this feature!
I love the Scrapbook as well for quickly collecting scraps.
Where I am stumped though is how to get data from the scrapbook anywhere else.
I would really want to be able to copypaste data from Scrapbook to another notebook in S Note, or even "save as" the Scrapbook so I can "upgrade" it to a real note.
I must be missing something, right? It cannot be that the scrapbook is a black hole from which data cannot escape except as a jpg or pdf via the export function?
Usually whatever I copy to the scrapbook is automatically put on the clipboard. From there I can use my "scraps".
Sent from my SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
The clip key on keyboard
I'm on jelly bean stock samung keyboard on right lower side has a key to open the scrap book verry buttom right key icon pn key
While I concede that this method of accessing the clipboard does kind of work it is not practical at all.
I collect stuff in the scrapbook over weeks, adding handwritten notes and stuff to it. So all of this stuff is a) not in the clipboard, b) too complex to to copy&paste from a clipboard and recreate.
That's the whole point of the clipboard for me. It's just really really quick to get info into it. But unfortunately seemingly impossible to get it out.
I suppose I will have to do the slightly slower thing of actually directly importing my clippings into the relevant note from the beginning.
Which still is not ideal cause things change over time. You decide to split up the content of a single note into two or more, or something similar. I mean, that's the whole point of text editors isn't it? To be able to edit, transpose, cut, copy, paste as one requires....?

S Note app for 10.1 SUPER glitchy?

Hi, I'm using S Note on my Samsung Note 10.1 for a couple certifications i am studying for. The reason i am using S Note is because it allows me to create separate folders (i like to create a folder for each book) then in the folder for the current book I'm studying i like to create more folders for each chapter, and then within each chapter folder i like to have multiple notes for each topic covered under that chapter.
That being said, rather than helping me fix S Note, if you know of another app that will let me do exactly what i described I'd rather download a separate app that isn't so glitchy.
Moving on, The S Note app is really terrible on my Note 10.1. At random times (and VERY VERY frequently) I will either type a random word, or press the line break button, or place a period, or a space, etc (these are the only things i have found so far that trigger it) but anyways it will freak out on me and either take the most recent word i typed, or some other COMPLETELY random word i typed previously, and it will move it smack dab into the middle of ANOTHER random word, then it will delete a bunch of spaces and line breaks i made. For example, I'll type the word "card", it will trigger the glitch out of nowhere and move the word "card"into the word "motherboard" that i typed previously and it will become "mothcarderboard" or something of the sorts.
Long story short, if anyone knows how to fix this or knows another app that can do what I described I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!
Look for the Awesome note apk.... Or A-Note.apk. It's the note 8" version of s-notes. It is quite good from what I've used.
You can also get lecture notes, paid app though and is a bit expensive if you don't really need it.
I found out what it was. It was Swype. I tried the regular Samsung keyboard and it worked perfectly fine. Ugh. Who do I contact to fix it? The S Note developers or Swype developers?

I hihly doubt either will do anything. If you like swype functionality I would use the aosp keyboard or swiftkey my personal favroite. Actually the stock samsung keyboard has it too but its not that good.
As far as note taking apps go I like lecture notes and papyrus give them a try.

Recommendation of app to easily handwrite in jpg files in different colors?

Hello guys,
I've got a Samsung Note 1 (N7000) and I have a basic need, but I've been trying for the whole day to find an app to help me and I cannot find anything.
I have a bunch of .jpg files in a folder, and I just wanted an app that allows me to take notes manually with my s-pen in different colors. So if there's an app that allows you to easily change between color pens and pictures, that would be ideal.
The apps I keep on seeing on the market are defined as professional photo editing, they've got loads of filters, etc... but I've not seen one that allows me to do something as basic as the above.
As a note, my mobile doesn't have the official Samsung OS version, so I've not been able to try with the original apps designed for the s-pen as they're not installed in my version of CyanogenMod...
Thanks for any tip!!
Yeah, I found your post because I'm in the very same situation: want to use my S-pen to annotate screenshots on my CM13 N7000
