Does anybody have any idea when/if the "iAnnotate PDF" App will be actually available in the "S Choice" on the "Galaxy Note"?
This is an iPad App and it's site says there is no Android version yet, but it's featured here:
samsung.com/global/microsite/galaxynote/note/applications.html
as a major app... However it is not pre-installed on my phone and is not available, as far as I can tell. Some other apps featured here are available, but this one is not. Not yet, anyway.
I've noticed that launching Samsung Apps requires the SIM in place. So is it possible that this App is available in Samsung Apps store if accessed from, say UK, but not when accessed from US?
Thanks.
P.S. I live in US, but my Galaxy Note came from Germany.
That site you linked clearly states that the apps mentioned as "Coming Soon".
This could be one good app for us

that app does look very nice considering it might have weight effect on the pen. Unfortunately i have been using a pdf nnotator on the noe which didnt have a weight effect but i recently had to remove everything from sd card because i was getting too many adverts and it kept turning off randomly.
I want that old pdf annotator back now! i think i had one in word as well, it was very nice.
the reason i am here though is im interested in the best way to look at multiple pdfs and multitask! would it just be a case of using like four different viewers?? i think i am answering my own quesion really, unless there is a way two have an application open twice.

That's funny...
The "(coming soon)" next to some Apps wasn't there earlier.
Now it's pretty clear that their release is simply delayed.
As a matter of fact, Goodreader for ipad is the best annotate pdf app out there.
it has a useful feature to extract all text highlited both with goodreader, with adobe acrobat, even with the galaxy note only worthy program for pdf editing: ezPDF.
even adobe acrobat can't extract highlighted text content (if it's not highlited in adobe).
basically, i am saying that iAnnotate functions are all there with ezPDF for android. i've tried also repligo reader but pen interaction is bad and everytime you lift the pen while ending the highlight, the text is deselected again.
what i am doing now is using dropbox to get the pdf, annotate and stickynote with ezPDF, then saving back to dropbox, edit them if necessary with adobe reader, then when all editing is done, i use GoodReader to extract just the annotation and sending them via eMail back to me.
got it?
PV.
nice work. will definitely look into this methodology at some point, presumably you have an ipad stuck on your desk then ?
i know what you are saying about adobe not even being able to highlight highlighted text aswell thats really annoying.
my first step is to re-install ezpdf because i accidently uni stalled it ..
although we're all screwed over with no pressure sewnsitivty in the note's ezpdf, iannotate will solve this though no-one likes writing then highlighting the whole thing to delete too!
I want this app as well... in the hope its a bit better than the .10c Ez PDF Reader Pro I bought...
"Lite" version of this App is finally available!
I think it's not compatible with our Note.
Edit: I finally downloaded app from Samsung App, looks promising but still too simple, I hope this app will be properly developed to reach the same quality as on iPad.

It works on mine, but it's pretty basic. They promise to keep adding features in the coming months...
yes it is, I have it installed, you need to get it from the Samsung market, not the Google/Android one.
Could someone generously provide the apk? Thanks in advance.
FYI, the "iAnnotate PDF" has been available from the Market for awhile now. It is more stable and has more options than the "iAnnotate Lite" version available from the "S Choice".
True, I didn't see it on the play store though, but I have seen it in the S-Choise.

So I was thinking of buying this capacitive stylus: http://www.amazon.com/Acase-Capacit...aybook/dp/B003ULE6GU/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top
But I was wondering if there are any decent note taking apps designed for use with a pen. Because if there aren't, it's kind of pointless, I don't think there's really anything else I would use the stylus for, except maybe drawing.
Thanks!
I'm not sure of a good app, but I do own this stylus. Once I get my Transformer tomorrow, I will let you know how well it works.

Handwritten notes
If you're talking about handwritten notes, some people from the xoom forum suggested handrite, check it out and tell me if it works with the transformer. There is a free version with ads. Also many users suggest get rid of the auto insert feature through the settings for the app and it becomes much more usable.
Amazon 1-click Order is dangerously easy. Just ordered it. I'll play around with the note taking apps and let you know what I find. Tablet's coming tomorrow, stylus should arrive on Tuesday.
I'm using flext9 it can be used as swipe which works faster than the one installed on the transformer and it also has a writing to text feature that's pretty cool.I take my notes on evernote which also has a share button to email/ share it to a computer. You can also create an account and sync your documents up to access anywhere.
I can't believe this, from the time since the beginning of Android to now, NO ONE has created a combinable Text & Handwriting note program.
Where is the app that lets you draw and type within the same note? This was possible in Windows Mobile, 10 years ago!!!
All the programs available seem to at best be able create drawing notes separately from typing note, WTF?

Hey dummy, read the post above yours.
I can confirm this. FlexT9 works great on the Transformer. It does an AWESOME-fast Swype style. Then it also has a handwriting-recognition mode that allows you to write within any app.
Screw note-taking apps, when you have a keyboard like this you don't need them.
The post above mine previous (#6) mentions two things:
FlexT9: an input method, not a program that supports scribble drawing & text notes
EverNote: an notes program, without any scribble drawing support
Care to enlighten me with your wisdom again?
+1 for flexT9, it is now my keyboard of choice too, much quicker than handwriting or typing in my opinion.
There is another note taking app called Tabnotes, currently under development. It looks very promising and could potentially be the killer notepad app. Works really well with handwriting with a stylus.
A trial is available on the market for you to try out, the program has been developed with tablets in mind.
At present you cannot use keypad entry, I have emailed the developer of the app for this function, we'll see what happens.
i am using writepad with Evernote and it works flawlessly. I was nervous because the writepad application cost $10. But if you go to the developers site you can test it free for24 hours.

Hello all!
I have been lurking around these forums for a while but finally decided to post. So, I just got my transformer yesterday, but now I need a good note taking app. I was wondering if any of you guys know of an app that allows you to take notes with a tree hierarchy like in MS OneNote? In addition, a note taking app that also has notebook support like in MS OneNote also? Any help is greatly appreciated!
Evernote
Evernote doesn't really have options to bold, italicize, or underline right? Or at least in the android app. It also doesn't have a tree hierarchy when taking notes also no option for bullet points. This is most important to me because I need to organize my notes that I take in class.
You could use the stock polaris office...

Evernote is NOT what he asked for. Thats a super simple note collection sort of app. Have you seen a proper ipad esque note taking app? Evernote is pre-school compared to the level of note taking apps they have on the ipad. Pre-school.
Everyone always replies with evernote. So frustrating.
i think you would be best going with a word processing app like Polaris, quick office or docs to go.
there the best for taking notes
Hmmmm, it seems like my options are limited for now. I suppose the notebook feature isnt too important. Is there any note taking apps that allow you to bold, add bullet points and have a tree hierarchy? Or is that asking too much?

Well I guess we can use your option"criticism" where do we find that on the market.
I tried out MaplePaint last night and it seems to be okay. It saves files in SVG format so they can later be converted into png/jpeg/etc. I would assume that SVG is also easier to convert to plain text with an OCR than other formats since the lines are cleaner.

I'm curious now! As a LONG TIME evernote user (6000+ notes), I haven't seen anything that compares. My wife uses the ipad, but she would be interested in a good note taking app. What do you recommend?
As for taking notes in Android, I find Colornotes to be fast and efficient for things like jotting down the details of a phone call or for creating a "sticky note" on your home screen. I also like the fact that notes remain open when task switching, so you can easily copy and paste bits from other apps without having to constantly open and save a note.

Why not Google Documents? They just recently put out a Docs app, and it appears to run fine in Gingerbread so far.
I like it because I can write notes on the PC which quickly sync to my phone and my tablet. It's easy to write a note and refer to it later. One example is shopping lists. I whip one out on the PC at home and whip out the DX in the store to check it.
Springpad?

+1 for springpad
Use it for most things, shopping list, Todo list, managing small projects, diary, looking up near by restaurants and has a cool widget.
And it syncronises with your springpad account so I got access to stuff on the phone aswell
Also, re Springpad I think they have just announced a Honeycomb version.
Stupid phatware still hasn't come up with their phatpad. I've used it on the Windows Mobile platform and it is superb.
It can do free writing too as well as text and shapes.

Android's note taking apps all are underwhelmingly basic compared to the Windows Mobile selection.
Android stinks on note taking. I used to use handnotes by choung . No app even comes close to that one. I would pay 100 if someone could make a note app like that. I realllllly like being able to write freehand notes

I can't believe ASUS threw this thing in here. Compete with the Lennovo thinkpad perhaps? This app is incredible. I don't know of any other notepad app out there that rivals this. It does everything I need: shares with evernote, dictation, ocr, insert images. The fact it comes for free is incredible. It has a great simple paint app to boot. May need to uninstall sketchbook for that reason although the painting in Supernote is a bit limited.
The fact that the Transformer comes with this just shows how superior it is to any Android tablet out there. Once the TF2 comes out it will be king. And I don't even have to mention the dock!
What are your guys thoughts?

Wow this is app is great. Now I am not claiming to be a pro, but I have tried everyway to handwrite on this tablet and this app is the best. Very smooth all the most needed features in one app. Yes I am sure you can improve it somehow as everyone has a different need but for FREE it is for ME.
Fyi...for those who are having trouble with using the rubber tip stylus's I highly recommend trying a coat or two of rainx ....that is if you don't have a screen protector ...
supernote is the best note taking app and I have tried them all. it could still use some improvements such as zoom though. It works great with the adonit jot stylus.
wow, I love this program !
Seems like they perfected the interface as compared to FreeNote.
All they need now is to have some export to some PC format feature.
But how does the functionality compare to FreeNote?
Its nice, but I can't decide if I like it better than Antipaper Notes though.

If you use the insert annotation function, write your maths formula, you can then pinch to zoom to make it larger or smaller by using the select tool.
This app will be almost perfect if they can include palm rejection like in Writepad stylus, especially in landscape mode. Also export to pdf would be ideal.
I would also like to see either user selectable pen thicknesses or more choice added.
Truly is a simple and great app already.

grab the free app----Scan to PDF FREE from the mkt
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.scan.to.pdf.trial&feature=search_result
Share your note to it from supernote and walla- saved as a PDF. then you can open in Repligo PDF and add more text etc.....
Works for me. There are other PDF conversion apps out there- not sure how they work- but if anyone else gets one----REPORT BACK...
EDIT - another good one that works Images to PDF lite- https://market.android.com/details?...did=br.com.tabletsoft.converttopdflite&rdot=1
You have to share your supernote pages to the gallery than go into this app and add pages from the gallery than convert to PDF-
The good thing about this one is you can string up to 5 images/pages on the free version to one PDF doc. But you cant shre the pages to it right from the supernotes program.
Any video of this thing in action for those of us waiting for Revolution to update?

Where do you see the option for OCR?
This would make it the complete package for me.

I cant see OCR support natively either in SuperNote,
but if you share your handwritten note to Evernote,
Evernote's servers will perform OCR on the note.
This makes words in the note searchable from within
evernote at least.
Supernote must be by the same people as FreeNote, its so similar.
Awesome app.
I am trying to find a good note taking app to go along with my GT-P6210, and I came across the Supernote app on the Asus Transformer. I have heard some great things about it, but I can't find it in the app market. Does anyone know if its compatible with the Tab 7 plus?
Also, if you know of any good note taking apps for a college environment, feel free to suggest. I am looking to be able to make bullets and sub bullets (something evernote cant do) and I would like to be able to write or draw directly into my notes with a stylus.
Evernote w/ skitch allows me to write/draw, but the downfall is that it groups all my drawings seperate from my notes.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

It's working, but not fit to screen... deleted.
Supernote is such a good app...........but it doesn't fit the screen. The sidebar gets cut off so you can't use certain features. It would be amazing if it was optimized for our size tablets
I like Supernote so much I've adapted to using it on the GTP with parts of the app being off screen. I'm hoping that if Asus ever releases the Memo 7" tablet to market there will be a version of Supernote for it. They've teased it at the 2011 & 2012 CES.
alternative to supernote
The app that I use more is Catch Notes, cause it lets me syncro with my phone, but it is not on the same league.
Give GNotes a try. I just recently discover it. It has bullets, you can type, handwrite, attach a picture, a video or some sound.
But actually, I was so busy trying to find a good app, that I didn't realize how good the stock application included in the tablet is. I'm taking about the one that can be found in the bottom bar. You can attach pictures, you can synchronize (haven't try yet), you can write anyplace in the sheet, handwrite (better than GNotes) and it floats on top of the other windows, allowing you to take notes while you are reading an article, for example.

I do not have a 10.1 yet, but I am seriously considering getting one. I went to try and test it the other day at a local retailer and figured out a number of interesting things.
However, when I played with the pdf viewer in Polaris, I found the option Annotate, but after selecting it, nothing happened, that is, I was not able to free draw or insert text or comments anywhere.
I have read in other threads lots of suggestions on other apps which work very well for annotating PDFs, but of course those cannot go on split screen. So I am really interesting in figuring whether this Annotate option actually does anything in Polaris with PDF's.
Has anyone figured what that does, if anything?
Thanks.

Adobe Reader has surpringly good annotation ability. I've got ezPDF as well (it was on sale for $0.10 last Christmas!), but I think I'm going to stick with Adobe.
PDFs are one of the main reasons that I got this tablet. I thought kno would be a good resource, but it is rather clunky, doesn't display some images properly, and has terrible palm recognition. My PDF workflow is now Scholarly (to sync with my Mendeley database), then Adobe Reader to view/annotate. Also, Adobe Reader saves annotations in place, whereas ezPDF wants to make a copy, which it then stores in some unspecified location. This means that if I open a PDF from Dropbox in Adobe and make some comments, those comments then sync through Dropbox to my computer.
Never thought I'd have so much praise for an Adobe product!

As with ezPDF, adjusting thickness and color is non-intuitive... *after* you've written your annotation, long-press on it. Then you should be able to modify the appearance. Whatever settings you choose will remain with the pen for the next time you use it.
No pressure sensitivity, you're right.
I've been using ezPDF which now on the Note 10.1 offers multiwindow which is cool. Use pen to annotate, rather than pencil..
Haven't figured a good workflow on how to use it with Mendeley yet...
I just downloaded eZ pdf and it crashes constantly. It does have the multi window function which is pretty cool, but useless until they fix the crashes. I downloaded Adobe but they still don't support the multi window function, and the built in Kno app doesn't support multi window either.
Edit: Did some more digging and found out that there is an app we can download in the app store called multi window which allows you choose any app to give multi window functionality to it. The pdf that I was trying to annotate on was protected SO the only way I can write notes on it was to use it in the Kno app! Thanks for the info guys!
