Back everything up with titanium backup and make a recovery image before updating.

Rogers soon to update to 4.1 Jellybean

Will this update bu Rogers totally scree up my current rooting of my Samsung Galaxy S3 1747? Any precautions I should take?
I'm wondering the same thing. I'm worried if I update it will screw up my apps and I will lose root.
Anyone have any advice?

Looking to root new S6

Hi all. I'm to finally make the switch from my s4 to the s6. Now can i use pingpong to root a verizon s6? I looked at the thread, but it looked like Verizon is not supported, or maybe I'm wrong? Also from reading the thread, is it true pingpong will not trip Knox so I could unroot for warranty issues?
thanks for any info

I'll give you a quick answer but all your questions are answered in the ping pong thread in Verizon S6 General. I have the latest OT applied and ping pong roots it fine, just do download data before get root. The latest Verizon version is rootable. It will not trip knox.
Good luck

You will be totally fine. As Protibus said. Upgrade first then follow these instructions.

Sorry, one question.
I just got my S6.
Not there is an OTA update out there. Should I install the OTA update before rooting. I know if was said to do it, but I didn't know if that will put me past the AOC3 version and then I won't be able to root.
Thanks

Brand new galaxy s6 edge.... How to get root and xposed

Hello, I just got a brand new verizon galaxy s6 edge, and I do not want to make a mistake and have to return it like I did when I got my first one... Last time, I used the verizon software on my comp to update the phone and it brought up to 5.1.1 which is a currently unrootable version of android as far as I know... so I returned it... Anyways...
My most major question is can I take the first OTA update and still be able to root?
The phone comes with OC3, which is rootable, and then the first OTA update is OE2 which is also rootable with ping pong root, correct? How do I know what version of android the OTA is going to install? Because I do not want to go to 5.1.1 like the verizon software did. I want to update to OE2. Also, is OE2 still the highest version of android for this phone that is rootable?
Next, how do I get xposed on this phone because the fragmentation of the software is quite confusing at this point... it isnt as easy and straight forward as my old GS4 running KK
Thank you to anyone that can help me with this!
r u sure its 5.0.2, i returned my galaxy s6 yesterday and got a new one, its still 5.1.1
Yes, it's brand new.. Not refurbished
Wait, it's already oe2! The one I bought 2 weeks ago had oc3 so I assumed this one shipped with that too. Thanks for asking! Lol
You should ODIN to OE2 and then root with Ping Pong. That will give you the latest version that is rootable, without going through the OTA updates.

I believe you will need to install a deodexed ROM after that to use Xposed on 5.0.2
Pretty sure you need 5.1.1 for xposed and its not available for Verizon anyways due to the locked bootloader. If I am wrong someone please correct me, as I would love to have xposed on this phone.

This is not true, I rooted and installed a ROM, was unhappy with it and went back to stock ROM with no root. I use Samsung Pay all the time.

S7 firmware question

Hi guys !
Waiting for my brand new Galaxy S7 to come home, i'm checking for what can be done on it.
So, about it, is there any pre-rooted firmware that can be installed with Odin ? In order to get root without losing Knox... Don't know if it's even possible...
Thanks guys !

I don't think that's possible but you might want to have a look at the development thread for the s7.
