Flip edge panel? - Note Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there a way to flip the edge panel 180 degrees by default? It just seems like it should be flipped

I wish! Makes no sense the way it is, especially when the night clock is the right way up but nothing else is.
Only thing I have found to work (temporarily) is to open an app that can be rotated, then turn your phone so the edge is at the bottom, and then shut the flip cover. Now anything on the edge is the right way up. But as soon as you open an app the right way up again (or go home) then it goes upside-down again.

This is for those people that do not bother to go into phone settings. Go into the edge panel settings and check the box that says FLIP EDGE PANEL 180 DEGREES...REALLY????

Where is that option?? When I go to Edge settings there is no checkbox for flip panel 180 degrees! Are you in left-handed mode or something? Any chance of a screenshot please?

Believe this is only for use with screen rotation. Maybe you should try it first before you claim you kno what you are talking about. Tried to insert screenshot but isnt working

Default home screen

So my Nexus 5 gets here tomorrow but I've been playing around with the kit Kat launcher on my Xperia.. I figured out how to add panels but is there a way to set one as default? Thanks!

I believe the default screen is permanently set to the first one to the right of the Google now screen.

I don't know if getting to Google Now from the home screen by swiping to the right is set up in a way such as Apple's way of getting to the search panel. It seems more like swiping from the left starting kinda OFF screen, like how you tend to do with slide-in settings tabs and such in different apps. Only guessing though, as i don't yet have my N5 (should have it by Wednesday at the latest), but that's what it seems like in every video i've watched. Someone feel free to correct me if i'm wrong with this.
Yup when Google now it's activated it is a normal swipe from the to access it

screen comes on when cover is opened

Hi is there anyway to disable this function?
Thanks
No way to disable as far as I know. Don't buy a smart cover is my only advice.

You can root your tablet and install xposed framework, there is a module called MagnetOff which disables the magentic sensor.

Does that module work with the 12.2? When I had tried it before it did not have any effect.

It does not work with the 12.2. It was the first thing I tried after installing xposed.

+1 He is absolutely correct. Ity has to have magnets. That is what trips the eletronic magnetic strip under the housing to trigger a poll on the LCD to take action.
Developers don't need no stinkin' signature!

Hi hsaltz, Yes there is a setting to turn this function on or off. In settings go to the General Tab, then under Device manager go to Accessory, then under Book Cover you will see this setting / option. I hope this helps.

That just turns off either daynote or the automatic unlock. Not the wakeup feature.

Hi Duly,
I have the official Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 Book Cover. Without the option in question turned on, when I open my book cover, the screen is black, and I have to press the power button to get to the lock screen, then swipe to get to my home screen. When the option in question is turned on, and my book cover is closed, all I have to do to get to the home screen is open my book cover (I do not have to press the power button and swipe) to get to my home screen. I thought that was what the person who wrote the post was asking about. So for me my tablet does wake when the feature / option is turned on and my book cover is opened from a closed position.
I currently have the auto unlock unchecked and do not use a lock screen. Opening my book cover turns on the screen and toggling that option has no effect. I'm not sure why yours acts like it does. I even tried enabling a swipe to unlock lock screen and all that option does for me is bypass the swipe screen if the cover is used to wake the device vs the power button (which sounds to me like that was the intent of the setting to begin with).

Just recieved Speck Stylefolio case.
My Screen rotate will to left and right but not upside down.
Is this just the way it is?

The 180 option is normally not set as default, but can be activated under Settings/Display/Rotation/
Found that setting under accessibility tab. Just will not give function to turn tablet upside down. My wifes 10.1 2014 edition does though. Anyhow using Ultimate Rotation Control from play store seems to be working with that.

[Q] Edge Screen Encroaching on Main Screen

Isn't the point of the edge screen to provide you with the extra information that you want WITHOUT interfering with your main task? I attached a couple screen shots showing how the edge covers some main screen real estate when deployed. Is there a setting I can tweak to adjust the width? Is this functioning as designed? Anyone else experiencing this?
Thanks!
When the edge screen is out, yes it takes a tiny bit of space from the main screen.
But you have it backwards. When the edge display is closed the main screen is going over the curved edge .
Thanks for your reply. You're right. What I guess I really want is a way to make the main screen (slightly) narrower. After playing with it all day, though, I'm used to it.

I agree though it can get in the way. Say in this case
If I'm typing something and notification pops up. I has to get use to not hitting the edge bar cause then I'd leave the app I was in. It was very annoying at first.
But life is about adapting.

And that does what for this slight annoyance?

Tap anywhere on screen to take photos??

I've just got the galaxy s6 and I am so impressed with the phone so far but there's one feature that doesn't seem to be here that was on previous Samsung phones. The ability to tap anywhere on the screen to take photos. "tap to take pics" on the settings screen. Am I missing this somewhere or have Samsung removed it?
Hopefully someone can shed some light on this.
Thanks in advance.
