[Q] I want a mostly stock D850 rom with the Nexus dialer - AT&T LG G3

I like the G3 interface and many of the features. I prefer less bloatware than AT&T comes with and I don't need all of Goofles crap either, but I an get rid of them. I just want a rooted ROM with the Nexus dialer. I've tried most of the ROM's posted here and none of them have it. I don't really want to use a 3rd party launcher to do it so any suggestions? Anything I might have missed?

You can get .apk from here http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/1...ll-it-manually-on-other-kitkat-roms-download/ i used the flashable version on cloudy v1.2 and just go to app drawer and move phone to home screen(blue icon not green one)

I'll give this a try...
But from what I've read you can't fully replace the stock dialer and the caller I'd feature doesn't work. It's worth a shot though, thanks.

Stock Contacts/Dialer

Does anyone know where I can find the stock 2.1 Contacts and Dialer .apk's?
Are these even possible to install as .apks? I'm trying to get my phone to as close as stock as possible without rooting. Thanks
i am very interested in this as well, but i think we'll have to wait for root or mods to get the stock dialer, contacts list, sms app and keyboard...
i'm afraid there's only a few of us who /don't/ want the HTC modifications to Android on our phones...
If anyone finds these I'd also like them. The HTC sense ones leave out too many options and replace them with fancy icons.
Add me to the list.

just adding my 2cents.. i would love to have the stock android dialer from nexus/moto droid please.
Bump...
Is there any reason the n1 dialer, contacts and sms app can't be ported/installed on the incredible?
We've gotten a few things, clock, gallery, etc...

They depend on the stock framework and without root , they cannot be installed. I'm pretty sure that if you try to install them it'll tell that the application already exists.
ok, i was wondering if there was something prohibiting the install... thank you for the update.
bump, now that we have root, has anyone had success getting a stock mms.apk, contacts.apk or phone.apk installed?
without removing phone.apk and mms.apk from the device, contacts.apk is the only one from the n1 dump that will /attempt/ to install, but it fails.
i assume, once the stock phone.apk and mms.apk are removed, the n1 mms.apk and phone.apk will also fail to install, so something needs to be modified, but i don't know much about all of this yet, i imagine i will learn a lot, as roms are released and kitchens, etc...
but if anyone has ability, and wants to take a whack at it, or point us in the right direction for learning what we need to do, please let us know...
otherwise, i suppose we wait for a vanilla rom to come out... here's hoping the nand flash is hacked soon...
You cannot "install" those sorts of apks. You simply have to copy, move or push them into the folder with rw access. It just overwrites the old file and then it will function if it can. If you overwrite the apk with an incompatible one, you will probably crash your phone. You also have to be careful because a lot of applications are dependent on each other.
To remove Sense means removing about 90 applications since they all depend on each other. If you do not remove them all, you will have compatibility problems and a lot of fc's and possibly boot loops. You also have to make sure you have replacements for most of them. Then there is the whole framework issue. Our phones are built and configured to work with Sense and the htc framework. You could probably manage to remove most but not everything without messing up your phone. Since we do not have a way to do a nand backup yet, I would just sit tight.
If you want a phone without any residual bits of Sense, you will want a Cyanogen based ROM. It has no Sense whatsoever.
For now, there are a few good apps in the Market for free that can act as replacements for most things like your contacts, launcher and mms.
If you want to do an easy Sense removing mod that requires root, just search for removing the htc lock screen. It is very easy and will give you the standard Android lock screen with the tab unlock feature. You will, however, lose the music player and notifications on the lock screen that htc has programmed in.

[Request] AOSP Alarm, Calendar, Contacts, Music, etc. apk's

Firstly for those thinking, "just get DarchDroid! It's already AOSP," I would first like to explore this option. I like Sense UI, just hate the lag associated with certain Sense apps and would at least like to try the AOSP versions before completely switching to a new ROM.
I did some searching, but couldn't find any sure apk's that will work on a CDMA Hero. The closest I found was some working for the EVO 4G (here), but I don't want to risk it not working on the Hero.
Is it possible for someone to pull some apk's from DarchDroid ROM and have them work on Sense-based ROMs?
Suppose there are working apk's, will they replace or coexist with the HTC apps?
Thanks in advance, and I apologize if this was already done.
Edit: found some apk's!
Edit 2: apparently I suck at searching; there was another thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=667715#7 but at least my thread has the DeskClock.apk
I feel your pain, or at least I did. I liked sense but hated all the lag such as the lag when scrolling threw contacts and SMS. All those little small areas where it would lag drove me crazy. I tried installing the apks from darchdroid but it didn't work so I searched it up. Got the same results as you. I had no choice but to go with darchdroid but I am more than satisfied now. Throw launcherpro on it and you wont regret it. AOSP is like a simplified less flashy version and I love it. I hope some one has a real answer for you though because I'm curious myself. Good luck.
Oh. If you do end up trying darchdroid, try out gomorrah's blackmod theme for it. It's sick.
Well, I managed to find the AOSP messaging app when I wasn't even looking for it! Go figure. It was in a thread talking about keyboard lag. Some claim that for texting, using AOSP messaging app has much less keyboard lag than the HTC messaging app. For those curious, it's here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6309233&postcount=6
Oh and it looks like it replaces the HTC messaging app; they cannot coexist.
Edit: It also occurred to me that flipz included the AOSP alarm as part of his AOSP lock screen fix!
Much less lag. The messaging app is the only one that worked when I tried replacing them though. The phone and contacts apps were giving problems. I didn't know what to do so I just went with darchdroid. If you like sense, maybe there is a way to add it to an AOSP ROM. Maybe you can just try installing the HTC Sense launcher apk on darch's ROM.

[Q] Getting rid of TouchWiz & Samsung UI

Hey everyone,
I love my Infuse but the only thing is I absolutely HATE TouchWiz. I love HTC's Sense but unfortunately AFAIK there isn't a way of getting that on here.
Anyways back to my main point, what is the easiest way to get rid of TouchWiz and Samsung's Dialer, E-Mail Client and SMS Client? I much prefer the stock Android version of everything so if someone could please point me in the right direction that would be great.
My phone IS rooted BTW incase that makes things easier
Thanks!
CM 7 is in the process of being ported to the infuse, check the development section - still doesn't have all bugs worked out yet, but that's your only alternative to TouchWiz
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA App
Until CM7 is available you could change the launcher and use market apps to do SMS, Email, etc...
Just delete/move or freeze the APKs using a root-enabled file explorer or Titanium Backup. Then you can install some alternative apps, lockscreens, and launchers.
Alternatively, you might want to check out some of the ROMs in the dev section. You can easily get a close-to-AOSP feel with Infused v2 and the lockscreen addon.
Yeah I'm always watching the CM7 thread to see what's new, etc.
Am I able to get the AOSP APK's for the dialer, sms and e-mail from somewhere? I would change my launcher but without the AOSP APK's I don't see the point
I am currently on Infused V2 with the lockscreen addon, just want to get rid of the Samsung feel ;-)
Thanks for everyone's help!
the dialer and contacts would be difficult to permanantly change. way back designgears tried an aosp look rom for the captivate and he wasn't able to change the dialer. you can get go contacts/dialer which is a single app much like aosp with added features and is themeable.
you can change the sms to aosp I believe but I'm not sure why you'd want to, it is really limited. there are many market apps you can use. go sms pro and handcent are very popular.
and there are many launcher in the market for you to choose. the gingerbread one from Eugene373 is same as gtg puts in his roms I believe.
I guess I will just wait until CM7 is all ready
I like simplicity, I think the Samsung SMS, E-mail and dialer are way too bloated. I look at it this way, if the main used functions of my phone are simple and basic then I won't have too many problems with the phone with daily use.

well it sounds like you might like go dialer/contacts then, it has some additional features but isn't very complicated at all. only issue is that every time it gets upgraded the defaults get cleared and you need to set them back to go contacts for like 4-5 different scenarios. it is a good app but the defaults system on android can get annoying. and I do believe aosp sms will work on this phone, just haven't seen it tried. it was done many times on the sgs phones because earlier versions of tw sms had weird problems with the time stamps, especially on custom roms, that and the theme was pretty gross.
Well I know SMS is possible for sure because I was using Refuse 1.7 before I upgraded to Infuse and it has the AOSP SMS which was nice
Hopefully CM7 gets finished up sooner than later
As mentioned, you have many options in the market...
popular launcher apps
go launcher
zeam launcher (i use on nook)
launcher pro (i use on infuse)
adw launcher (have on my son's phone)
android 2.3 launcher
SPB Shell 3D (looks like an amazing launcher)
and more
sms
chomp
go
handcent (i use)
and more
Dialers
I rarely make calls so I have not really looked into changing the dialer.

[Q] Stock ICS Status bar + Notification Shade?

Alright, so with the recent Root for the AT&T HTC One X I was wondering if there is a way for me to replace the current (ugly) status bar HTC put on this beautiful phone with the stock ICS status bar and notification shade. There are some apps in the Play Store that let you alter the appearance on the status bar, but they run in the background and seem to just run over the status bar (sometimes it flashes and you see the default one). I'm still not up to par with all this rooting stuff (coming from a jailbroken iPhone and messing with Windows Phone 7 only gives me minimal experience with Androids take on things) and am not sure if this is possible with a locked bootloader. if you could go one step further and tell me how to strip Sense from the UI altogether without an unlocked bootloader I would be forever in your debt.
So if you thought tl;dr then: Can/how do I replace the stock status bar+notification shade with the stock ICS versions?
Thank you so much for any help you can provide!
Edit to add: I saw in some of the other threads for the international One X that there are transparent status bar tweaks, but those require flashing. Am I to assume the original question I posed is impossible without the ability to flash as well?
Unfortunately, were going to have to wait until the bootloader is unlocked, to allow custom ROMs to be installed, or someone figures how to deodex the stock system to allow developers to easily theme.
As for removing sense, i dont know what APKs you would have to delete for it. I do know that if you download an alternate launcher, such as apex launcher or nova launcher, you will not see sense widgets and you can hide the sense apps in the app drawer in apex and nova launcher pro.

I figured the bootloader would get in the way I wasn't sure if there was a way to modify the look of the OS (the core UI I should say) without requiring a custom ROM.
Currently I'm using Apex Launcher Pro and its pretty amazing, still Sense abounds outside of the homescreen.

Yeah, my best advice is to just give it some time, the phone has only been out on AT&T for 3 days now. I know developers are already working on an unlock for the bootloader now.

Yup I was surprised to see the root to be honest. I appreciate all the work the devs are doing and can't wait to see what they do with this device.
it is possible, actually, without being able to flash. last night i spent time just changing up some icons and replacing those lame emoticons with ICS Android blacked out ones. looks tons better. i used adb to pull/push back to the phone. i'm currently trying to figure out how to theme the HTC Skins...particularly the dock bar. maybe i should take a look in the international HOX threads to see if anyone has done this

ICS w/ stock GB dialer

I haven't seen this anywhere. I love ICS on my Skyrocket, but despise the dialer. The market dialers are OK, but for some reason I'm hooked on the GB dialer. Anyone know of a ROM or a way to have ICS w/stock GB dialer?
Can't be done, its a part of the phone.apk which holds essential library and low level hooks.
I highly recommend u look into exdialer. Yes, it is a 3rd party alternative, but its unfortunately the best u can do
If I helped hit the thanks button
nothing like stock app ... especially the phone app.
about the best you can do is use a third party dialer and find a theme for it.
