[GUIDE] Change CyanogenMod 12 (CM12) Lock Screen Wallpaper - Android General

THIS GUIDE IS TESTED WORKING ON CYANOGENMOD 12 WITH THEME ENGINE ONLY.
Please do not post that this isn't working for you unless you have a ROM which has the CyanogenMod 12 theme engine installed.
It should theoretically work on all ROMs based off CM12 like CyanogenMod 12, GearCM12, AICP, Vanir, BlissPop, CyanideL, Candy5, Euphoria, Temasek, Resurrection Remix, Screw'd, Validus, Team UB, Dirty Unicorns and more!
Thanks to @eagleeyetom for the feature on 28th January, 2015!

NEWS! A DEV HAS CREATED AN APP FOR THIS WITH ADDED FUNCTIONALITY! READ ON FOR MORE INFO!

I noticed a lot of posts on the threads of almost all ROMs based off of CyanogenMod 12 asking about how to change the lockscreen wallpaper without using an apk or anything in the theme engine. So I did some experimentation and have found a way to do it, and I'm gonna share it with you.
Please follow this carefully step by step or this may not work for you. If you ARE on a ROM based off of CyanogenMod 12, and you did these steps correctly and it still didn't work (I don't see why it wouldn't), post your device information and ROM details and I'll look into it.
Let's get started.
Things you'll need:
1. A ROM based off of CM12 (duh)
2. Root access.
3. A root file explorer.
I would recommend reading the F.A.Q. before you do this!
Here's a video tutorial I made to make things easier to understand:
Here are the steps:
Download/place the wallpaper you need in your internal/external storage and remember it's location.
Download, install and open a root file browser. (ES File Explorer recommended)
Grant the file explorer root access.
Go into the root directory and then go to data/system/users/0.
Here, rename the "keyguard_wallpaper" to "keyguard_wallpaperOLD" to keep it as a backup.
Now navigate to where you saved your new wallpaper, and rename it to "keyguard_wallpaper" REMEMBER TO REMOVE THE FILE EXTENSION.
Now move this file to the location mentioned above (data/system/users/0/).
Change permissions to -rwx------ Different ROMs might require different permissions. See Q6 of the F.A.Q.!
Lock the phone now, and enjoy your new wallpaper.
UPDATE
A fellow XDA Member, @Miniprepumen, has created a simple and amazing app built to do what this guide says!
He's also added some features like built-in resizing, and more features are on the way. So if you want to do this the easy way, head on over to his thread, check out the app and leave a thanks! And if you can, donate to him for his efforts to motivate him further. Click HERE to go there!
F.A.Q.
Q1: How do I revert to the old wallpaper?
A: Simple. Just delete the new one, and rename the backed-up wallpaper.
Q2: Will this work on ROMs other than the ones based off of CM12?
A: I do not know. I've only tested this on Resurrection Remix 5.3.1 which is based off of CM12 on a S4 GT-i9500. Give it a shot, and if it worked, let me know so I can update the OP.
Q3: Will this cause any bricks or bootloops if I mis-rename the files?
A: Absolutely no. It shouldn't. Never bricked mine. It just displays the last known wallpaper I think.
Q4: What happens if I just rename the existing one and don't replace it with anything?
A: The default wallpaper (the one you use for your home screen) should be displayed. (This is based on user reports)
Q5: There is no "keyguard_wallpaper" in the directory you mentioned.
A: Just paste the new renamed file, set permissions, and it will work.
Q6: Did everything. Wallpaper doesn't change.
A: Please try other permissions. Some users reported that they had to grant permissions to the system to make it stick on reboot. Granting all the users all the permissions would be your last resort.
Q7: Still doesn't work!
A: Please make sure you did everything correctly. Watch the video for more help. If even after you've verified that you've set the permissions right, renamed it properly, removed the extensions, then try doing a reboot. If it still doesn't work, then it means your ROM just doesn't support it. Ask the dev for help.
Q8: Can I have a live wallpaper?
A: Yes and no. So far, I have not figured out a way to set a live wallpaper for lockscreen and the home screen separately. Only way it is currently possible to have a live wallpaper for your lockscreen (afaik), is to have it for both your locks creen and the home screen. If you're okay with that, then simply set the live wallpaper as your home screen wallpaper, and then delete the "keyguard_wallpaper" file. It's kinda like Q4.
Watch the video if the steps seem complicated to you. If you're gonna tell other people about this, please link back to this thread.
Enjoy your new CM12 lockscreen wallpaper. :good:

Did you guys even set a separate lockscreen wallpaper from the Themes app?

I just rename keyguard_wallpaper to "keyguard_wallpaperOLD and nothing else and finally i have my own wallpaper

These permissions you have to set...!!!

Another reason why I don't upgrade to CM12 yet... You need special workarounds even to change the lockscreen wallpaper. How basic is that?
I wouldn't expect further customisation options anytime soon, and disappointment is big enough.

Works on Grand Duos GT I9082

Not to seem off topic, but why isn't this feature put into the ROM?

[OmniROM-4.4]Multi-Window patch 20 (2014/1/23)

OmniROM: Aim to be perfect, idea beyond perfect, implementation approaching perfect!
This is what I feel!
Don't want to mess up the Omni forum so I post here.
Edit: Patches need to keep up with the platfrom. Will try to upate every 2 weeks.
Multi-Window is a preliminary feature of OmniROM. The official builds haven't included yet.
I did the cherry pick it in my OmniROM Homemake build for GT-7.7. Then I pack the necessary files to a patch.
It works for my Nexus 7 and Nexus 4 too!

[WIP] Multi-window
This is a big work in progress, which currently has some bugs, but begins to look okay.
You can already multitask a little bit, by using the app switcher and long-pressing an icon,
then select "Add to Split View". Last window touched gets the key focus.
Code is very ugly, I know. Don't merge it, don't use it for now. Unless you want to make your code ugly.
Enjoy
Click to collapse
Even though it is in the early stage, it is not that ugly and worth trying.
How to patch?
Before you want to try, I suggest you do a bakcup.
Then prepare a revert file first:
1. Make a copy of the attached zip file
2. rename it to say "revert-Multiwindow.zip"
3. open the renamed file and your OmniROM zip side by side with 7z
4. Copy the corresponding file from the ROM zip to the revert zip (in system/framework and system/priv-app folders)
5. Now you have a revert zip which can restore to original.
Flash the attached zip in recovery and enjoy! It work for OmniROM 4.4.2. Flash the revert zip if you don't want it.
I hope it works for your device too! Please report if you have a success or failure. Cheers!

It is build from source.
The Commit for Multi-Window. https://gerrit.omnirom.org/#/c/1510/
You may cherry pick the latest in OmniROM source.
Although It is for OmniROM (AOSP), porting to CM should not be difficult (quite a lot of changes though).
I might give a try for CM when the code is a bit mature.
Good luck!

Guess we will see it on temaseks rom in a while, you can also try the archidroid or onmirom, both roms have the feature.
Still, I'm gonna try to implement it in my temasek rom, and shall make a guide of I'm successful doing it.

[PORT][LL ONLY] LG G3 QuickRemote for AOSP

Greetings!
I have ported the latest version of LG G3's QuickRemote.
DISCLAIMER: I won't be responsible for any loss of data or other mishaps resulting from using this port. Always backup before flashing anything. Use or test at your own risk.
Information
Latest QuickRemote version ported
Modified some UI Elements to Material Design
This app will run only on Lollipop-based ROMs.
For reference, please check this thread.
Update (v4.50.19)
Flashable ZIP
APK (For updating)
Older version (v4.40.12) here
Thanks to @RieGo for the original scripts and to @Yoshi_Guy for providing files for the recent update.
NOTE - This port is not guaranteed to run on all LG Devices & other OEM's since i only have G3 on mind while porting this one, so apologies in advance if i may not help in fixing it for your device.
Did you try thisw on a G3 with an AOSP rom yourself? It looks like the only thing changed from the working zip is a newer version of the apk file, with the rest of the stuff in that zip file being exactly the same. It just force closes for me, using xenonHD (09-01-15) on LS990
Yeah i just replaced from there. I only tested it with D855 on CM12.1 so there might be some problems yet. if you can give a logcat, that can help
I'm using Resurrection remix and i have the same problem like the other port for quick remote for AOSP.
When i choose Tv there is no list of manufacturers.Wipe cache/davlik every time but nothing change.

sure, here you go.
Ive tried so many things to get a newer version of QRemote to work on an AOSP ROM, with nothing doing. Ive been using other remote apps in the meantime, but nothing out there is as clean and easy to to use than LG's.
Good Luck!
I do have a bunch of stuff on this phone right now, like xposed, that could be causing my problem. Although the [1-13-15] zip works fine. Maybe the material design changes you mentioned could be it? Ill try it on a clean rom soon and see if i still get the same errors in the logcat soon and let you know.

AFAIK most of LG's apps crash when your DPI is below a certain point, so yeah, it's not going to be an easy fix if there is.

[Closed] CyanogenMod 12.1 for Korean Galaxy S5 SM-G900S/K/L

This project is discontinued. Please do not expect any replays from me in this thread. You may still use the attached files (if available) in your own risk. Thank you...
Hi friends
Good news for Korean Galaxy S5 users.
CyanogenMod finally meets Korean Galaxy S5 (SM-G900S/K/L).
Warning
Everything you are doing on your mobile is on your own risk. I am not responsible for any damage to your device. Please don’t point your finger at me in case you brick your device or lost SD card.
Supported device
Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900S (SKT)
Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900K (KT)
Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900L (LG)
Requirements
TWRP/CyanogenMod (View attachment Snapshot_recovery.tar or View attachment Nigthy_recovery.tar) or any other recovery image (for klte).
CyanogenMod 12.1 Nightly or Snapshot ROM (The ROM files for the international version (SM-G900F) from the official site: Trust me; it will work)
Google apps (GAPPS) for Lolipp 5.1.
Windows PC/Laptop
USB cable
The device should be rooted
Step-by-step installation instructions
1. Download the ROM (either Snapshot or Nightly), recovery image of your choice and GAPPS from the above links.
2. Copy ROM and GAPPS into the main folder of your external SD card.
3. Enter ‘download mode’ (press and hold volume down, home and power buttons together until the recovery screen appears) of your galaxy S5 and flash the above downloaded recovery image using ODIN (for guidance to use odin, visit here).
5. Reboot your device into the newly installed ‘recovery mode’ (press and hold volume up, home and power buttons together).
6. Wipe data, cache partition, internal storage (or/and factory reset) etc.
7. Flash the ROM followed by GAPPS. (important: also flash View attachment cm12.1_snapshot_audiofix_SM_G900S_K_L.zip along with snapahot)
8. After finishing the flashing, again wipe cache and reboot your device (remember, the first boot requires few minutes to finish)
Now you are successfully escaped from Samsung’s TouchWiz interface and an infinite number of pre-installed useless apps. Enjoy the taste of pure android and CyanogenMod.
Please remember, the warranty of your device is now void. However, your device will receive regular updates from CyanogenMod.
Known issues
Finger print lock is not available
Caller and media audio may not work sometimes (solved in the latest nightly). For snapshot, use this fix View attachment cm12.1_snapshot_audiofix_SM_G900S_K_L.zip (flash after ROM).

Sometime it works nicely. Otherwise you need to manually change the Default action of Media audio/phone audio from 'Let App Decide' to 'Speaker', 'Wiered Headphones' or whatever you want (see the attached screen shots). So far I never face any issue with my phone audio.
Did you try Unofficial cm13?

I only tried CM 12.1 so far (but on my SM-G900L device). Probably your issue will be solved by changing the Media and Phone Call Audio into 'Speaker' and 'Earpeice' respectively (instead of 'Let App Decide'). Please try.
I already tried this. So revert back to dokto 7.3.1.

You may install either opengapps (i recommend nano) or A-gapps. The latest version of twrp is here. It will work well with the ROM.

Install as any other ROM
Below guide is inspired from this CM13 post.
Unlock the Bootloader (Fastboot Mode = Vol. Up + Power)(Command: fastboot oem unlock)
* Flash a custom recovery (Command: fastboot flash recovery name.recovery.img)
Download AICP ROM and Open GApps (ARM64/7.1) and copy to the phone
Reboot to Recovery (Vol. Down + Power)
Do a Full Wipe (will delete everythings so make a copy of your file to the microSD card)
Flash AICP ROM
Flash GApps
Reboot the phone and wait (the first time will take a bit of time)
* Using twrp 3.0.2-0, there will be 2 red error lines when flashing - just ignore.

Looks good to me, even though I don't know the recovery. It should work, since it works for CM13.
However, you can try with the official twrp. That's the one I link to from OP.

@Osleg reported rotating issue in the CM thread. I had it once on this ROM as well.
I was messing with stuff in "Developer options" and at a point the rotation totally broke. I wasn't able to revert the setting, so I flashed the ROM again and have not had the problem again.
I suspect the "Multi window mode" broke it, but it could be other things like a bad behaving theme.
Could you think of any specific changes you have made previous to your broken rotation ?
Aside from that, the build has been stable for me since 22. Feb.

Thanks. There may be something here on CMs Gerrit. We are not alone. Im thinking our v3.10 kernel or the vendor blobs are not yet able to cope 100% with MM and need some workarounds.
It will be fixed.

I don't know about moving apps yet. But you should be able to format the sdcard as ext4 and use it as internal data. I think you get the option to chose the first time you mount the sdcard. I'm sure there is a guide somewhere

Just got the latest from apkmirror once installed it shows in play store then when you uninstall on play store you get the option to install the 5.x.x version which works fine. I think the 6.x.x version is for the nexus at the moment.

It's a typo, my bad. You know that is the source code, right?
@Debuffer, personally, I have no use for all the "extra" functionality of a custom kernel. After the holidays, I'll look into providing a custom kernel along with the stock one (like bhb does with RR). Just out of curiosity, did you install the Kernel Auditor app?

Yeah, I got that part after I went to the site. I was looking for the kernel in a bid to try using it with the ROM. I have been using the ROM for the past 3 hours now and all seems smooth and stable so far. I will keep running it and see, if it stays this way I just may have a new daily driver
Great rom, it runs very well. Only issue with it, is that the torch using gestures is very inconsistent. Similar to what happened when 6.0 roms first came out. It either takes 30 seconds to activate, or never works at all.
Also, the setting to control media volume by default doesn't work. This is the same on cm14.1, so imagine it's not something you can easily change in the rom.
Users with GPS problem only make the flash of this file that will be solved.

great rom, liked it alot, clean installed it without any phone stop errors, bhb27's auditor n govtuner works perfectly aswell
only one issue i have was when i take photos im not able to share them online for some reason (example via watsapp or facebook) it always shows "sharing failed please try again" msg. dont know what happened there i tried re-installing watsapp and also a different camera app but still get the same error.
reverted back to 6.1 for now as i really need photo share as my work is depended on it, although i did notice the pictures i took on 7.1 now in the gallery were corrupt n un-viewable aswell ? was there something i did wrong? should i try flashing again?

There are 2 folders where pictures are stored: DCIM and Pictures
Using the built in file explorer (or a PC), rename each of these. I did DCIM2 and Pictures2, then use your phone to take a picture. Both folders will be recreated. Then, drag and drop everything from the #2 folder into the corresponding "New" folder.
Hassle? Just a bit, but we did just change branches on our android phones
