Hi,
I vaguely remember Nexus 5's search box and app drawer has transparent and black background, but for some reason it became white, any ideas? I did root the device when I received it but that's a long time ago and this happened recently. I have also been using it to test some apps, not sure if this is caused by an app or not. Android version is 4.4.4
Thanks

Google Search updated so the majority of devices are all using the same version of Google Search rather than being fragmented.

So white background is normal, and it came from the newly upgraded Google Search app?

I'm pretty sure Google updated the GEL launcher to have the material design look no matter what android version you're on. That's likely where the white app drawer came from.

Ok, thanks, I just want to make sure there's nothing wrong, worried this may be the symptom of a deeper problem.

Oh it's definitely a symptom of a deeper problem. And that problem is that Android is being systematically uglified.

I agree. I don't undestand this new approach to UI design either, especially colours. Its too kitcshy.

I'm reading that the new OTA update dumbs down the universal search Google widget due to legal issues with Apple. However, I'm just learning that such a feature even exists. I have not received the update, but I've only ever been able to search the web from the Google search widget on the home screen. There are no options available to include searches for apps or contacts. How exactly do I turn this on, or why don't I have access to this feature?
You have this feature. Long press menu and the search is universal.

No, the search appears to be web-only. I cannot search apps or contacts.

My build number is IMM76D.I535VRALG1. I've had the phone for a while and use the search bar frequently, but I don't recall ever seeing contacts or apps in the search results. Only web suggestions.

Ah yes. I thought all stock phones came with F2 and that G1 was an update that was never pushed by VZW, so the only way to get it was manually flashing it?

The first batch (original release), came with F2, a month later, from here on they shipped with G1 or any repair phone (have a little sticker "update" when they returned back to you. Yes, G1 never push over the air, you have to manually install it.

Damn, well that makes sense. I had to get a "like-new" replacement after the vibration stopped working on my original phone. Bummer. Thanks for the clarification.

I do believe we have F2 and G1 stock version available here on XDA, which you can flash at will and OTA the latest if you wish. We have everything covered here!
My android Google Fit app and my Android Wear app are both properly calculating Google Fit steps/exercise etc, but when I visit http://fit.google.com no data is showing up.
Has anyone had this issue?
Thanks.

it doesnt bother me that its not showing properly there, i would never use it, but it is odd, it shows fine on the app and not the site.

Hi all. I decided to install an rather new android Oreo theme for emui the other day and since then, emoji have been showing as placeholders instead of icons in the Xbox app and also when I tap a letter while using fleksy keyboard(it is supposed to show the letter being pressed, not a big vibrant emoji). I don't know if this is coincidence but it's extremely odd. I've cleared cache and did what I could but nothing has worked to return these things to normal, it's obviously not a serious problem (other than looking tacky) but I am curious to find out what caused this. My device is an frd-L04 on stock B388
I believe it's a problem with the theme. Try another theme and see if you still get it.

Well done man! ?
This only happens to me if I enlarge the fonts.
When I apply it on my OP6
Every thing becomes dark as usual.
But when you go to places like
1. Settings - Apps - App permissions
Or
2. Settings - About Phone - status
There the screen is light themed/white background despite having a dark theme on.
Is it in your mobiles as well.
Also, the Shelf also remains with white background.
Help plz

Same thing on mine. They just didn't fully theme it I think. They must have missed some sub-menus.
u are correct, mine does the same, it also does on my 5T as well so its just something that was not themed

It's not an issue ofcourse...
Just wanted to check if it's an anomaly in my set alone or not.
My shelf was a dark theme (since I picked up the 6T in November)untill last night and now I can't for the life of me work out how to change it back

The ultimate 1 year necro bump...
I am sure software was different then from now.
Anyways.... What did you do? Updates, flashed? What are you running? Anything useful other than "it doesn't work"?

Well after this happened I searched and this was the only meaningful thread I found. I haven't rooted this phone, latest patch as per OOS.
Software didn't update, its set to notify me Instead was of just install
So I have this weird scrolling issue, like the one on this video:
Can someone please test if their phone does the same? I will replace the phone if this turns out to be a hardware fault. Thanks!
Hi,
I have the same issue on my OP9. But if I hadn't seen this video, I would never have known there was such a problem. Like in your video, problem exists only in stock launcher.

Alright, thank you! Yes it is a minor issue, but still quite annoying (at least for me and my way of using the device). Hopefully they will fix as it soon, as it seems to be happening only on the base non-pro 9 model.
First thing i do is install NOVA launcher. So never noticed an issue.

This happenes throughout the device, regardless of the launcher used. Can you please try replicating the steps as shown in the video?
I did didn't notice any problem. But reading the previous post said only occurred in stock launcher which i uninstalled
I've lowered my animations to 0.25 with joneplus tool so that may make a difference as well

Okay, that's weird. Maybe I'm just too sensitive but scrolling feels off to me because of this.
Also, are you using the preinstalled screen protector?
Nope, didn't come with one. Got phone from t-mobile this time. Using one from Amazon forget which brand

Thanks for all the info so far! Just one more thing, could you please test it again, but keep your finger still for at least a second before flicking.
I am really sorry to bother you with this, but I am going to replace the phone, if yours turns out to be ok. I'm just paranoid that you might have missed it because it's so subtle.
In Nova the app drawer is side to side, but no issue there and in trying up and down in couple apps no issue . Even tested keyboard and virtually instant response using exact same keys from video. P0qla no delay at all

Alright, something is wrong with mine then... Or maybe the T-mobile version of the phone doesn't have this bug, since it uses a slightly different software.
Yeah could be. Maybe t-mobile turned down the touch rejection.
