Google apps do not sync in the background - General Questions and Answers

Hi guys,
for quite some time now on my Nexus 10 all of the Google apps (i.e. calendar, Gmail, contacts, keep and so on) do not sync automatically in the background.
All apps work fine, they sync when I open them. But they do not otherwise. Which means: I do not receive email notifications and other reminders! All non-Google apps like Facebook and so on seem to work properly.
What did I change?
I installed Lollipop
I encrypted the device
I tried Inbox and went back to Gmail
nothing else I am aware of...
In the settings for my Google account all the apps are checked to auto sync. I tried to unceck, restart, re-check and such things. I also tried to delete the cache, uninstall Gmail, restart, install again and such things. Nothing seems to work!
Any ideas!?
Edit:
I run stock ROM, device is not rooted, installed only OTA updates, currently its 5.0.2

[Q] Gmail and Calendar stopped Syncing

Recently my gmail has stopped background syncing, as well as my google calendar. I think my contacts aren't syncing either. If i got into gmail and hit refresh it pulls all the emails, same the other services.
Why has it stopped doing it automatically? Labels are set to sync, background updates are on, im connected to wifi, my google account is set to sync, not rooted. The standard email is updating in the background with my uni account like it should. Gmail is working on my Desire (MIUI).
Please help.
Cheers
Go into Applications for each. Choose "clear cache " and then "clear data ". Ignore the warnings.

I tried this, it didnt work, I then unchecked both sync, and bacgrkound sync, and checked them again, and now it works.
Thanks
Sorry to bump an old thread, but this is happening to me again. I deleted all the data and restarted, but it's still not background updating. Kind of makes the Xoom worthless for me as that's my main use for it... (unactivated 3g xoom on wifi only). anyone have any ideas?

[Q] Contacts not syncing after updating to Oxygen [Solved]

Updated to OxygenOS this morning. I did a full factory reset before flashing. I signed in to my Google account, everything synced except my contacts. It says they're synced in the settings app, but in the dialer and contacts app, there's nothing. I was able to sync my work Exchange account and everything came down fine. When I go to contacts and select Accounts, I only see my exchange account, no option to even add a Google account for syncing. Does anyone know what's going on?
Also rather annoying, AdFree does not seem to actually be working, even though it says it's installed the latest host file.
I'm mad I didn't make a backup before wiping like I always do. I always back up my SMS messages too, and I forgot to do that :crying:
Working fine here. Something on your end.
Solution
I figured out that it's because I flashed an incompatible version of gapps. It said it was a lollipop version, but it may have been for 5.1. I'm used to ROMs not coming with gapps, but then I remembered that Oxygen is certified and doesn't need a separate flash. All the other Google apps seemed to be working fine, but I guess one or more of the services weren't fully compatible.

Gmail not Syncing

So, we have 2 ATT GS5 phones that have been updated to Lollipop since the software was released. On May 7th, my wife's phone just stopped syncing Gmail. Funny thing is, it syncs all the other google services under accounts (Calendar, Contacts etc...) When you look at Gmail under accounts, where all the google services are, the Sync arrows never go away on the Gmail section. Also, since I cleared all app data, when you go into Gmail for the first time, it just stays at the pulling down email screen.
-I tried clearing Gmail app cache and data buttons, no good.
-Tried the uninstall updates button, rebooted, re-installed updates, no good.
-Rebooting phone and removing batter, no good.
-Tried clearing off all her pictures/videos to make more space (now have 5GB free), no good.
What else is there?
open the setting

there are nothing to do gmail your gmail app. go to setting. search for accounts and sync setting there you can check or open the Background Data also you can check in Auto Sync. also you may find their your gmail accounts so you sync them manually.
if there are issue still occur reply ASAP and Resolve your issues in some Deeper way?. thanks for asking anyway =).

gmail has stopped working

I have a brand new Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Edge. As soon as I connect the device to my gmail account, I get frequent popups that 'gmail has stopped' I have not even configured email yet...lol.... What I did so far (all without success)
wiped the cache data partition, reset to factory defaults, upgraded the OS to lolipop, updated all aps that come with the phone.
Nothing has helped so far.
If I try to uninstall gmail (after all there are plenty of other email clients out there), it tells me that it will impact the functionality of my phone. I was not planing on using that app anyways. But I want my phone to function properly...
Any other ideas, what I can do?
Have you updated gmail or tried another version of gmail? You could try Google inbox & then try to uninstall gmail.
I have updated gmail with no success.
What happens if I uninstall gmail? the phone tells me I will break functionality...
I use CloudMagic as email tool. gmail is not even set up at all. I would think that process gets started even if it is not used.

Google push notifications not working suddenly.

I've been running my S6 with this rom for a long while now and it has been perfect. However, in recent days, the push notifications on google, namely Gmail, no longer work. I've done the usual, deleted data from services framework and Gmail and i've removed and re-added the account but it still doesn't work. I've checked that it syncs 30 days etc and all the settings are right. I've changed NOTHING on my phone, it just suddenly stopped doing it. The only way I know I have emails is to open the Gmail app and refresh. I guess a wipe and re-install would do it, but I am trying to avoid that.
Any ideas on this one?
