I purchased an Xperia Z3 (D6603) in November on contract from Vodafone UK and today I decided to unlock the boot loader. My phone is on contract but I got it SIM unlocked. When I opened the service menu, it says "Bootloader unlock allowed: No".
Is there any way to unlock the bootloader?
No

Not even after my contract expires? Is there no way at all?
No
your out of luck for time being, however soon enough you will be able to run custom roms as long as the stock kernel is used so its not all doom and gloom.

It's impossible to unlock...
Is it simlocked? If it's simlocked to some network you are unable to unlock the bootloader. If you unlock the phone, you will be able to unlock the bootloader

I had several phones that were sim locked and I was unable to unlock the bootloader. After sim unlocking them I was able to unlock the bootloader. The same goes for the Xperia M2, it was locked on T-Mobile MK, after unlocking the phone I was able to unlock the bootloader.

So, I assume that if I flash a debranded firmware from Xperia M2 (My cellphone can't unlock Bootloader about the "[x]Newtork 10" is locked in SimLock) may unlock the bootloader without any troubles? Is that so? Or I'm mistaken?
If I'm correct, that'd be amazing, I'd like use other ways to personalize my phone but I can't 'cause of the stupid Bootloader xDD.
Thanks!

Debranding basically removes all the bloatware that slow your phone down. You can't sim unlock with debranding, only with special code provided by some other sim unlock sites/ebay

Exactly that. Try to enter it correctly because there is a limit on how many times you can enter to network unlock code. If it doesn't work on KitKat, downgrade it to 4.3 and enter the code. I had similar problem where I was unable to unlock on KK but on 4.3 worked fine.

Well, about that, I have a "plan", or, better said, a contract between the carrier and the cellphone, so, I must wait for two days to complete the "legal" contract. So, after that, I guess that I can unlock the device and then, unlock bootloader.
Thanks for everything!
Hi,
I want to root my Xperia Z3 but I know I have to unlock the boot loader first. However, when I went on to the Sony website to do so, I was told to check if I could unlock it or not. So I typed in *#*#7378423#*#* on my dialer and followed the instructions blah blah blah... And then it said "boot loader unlock allowed: no"
Does this mean I can never unlock the bootloader and/or root this phone?
If you SIM unlock your xperia it will change to boatloader unlock allowed yes. Been like that since the 2011 xperia's.

Not true. I've seen that some people have sent in their SIM unlocked phones to Sony and had them change the bootloader status, but I've never seen any official documentation on it.
Bootloader unlocked = No means you can't unlocked the bootloader through the Sony process

Not true and has never been the case.
I read that on an old Z2 post, i thought it was true
So?...
So is there any way I can root it without sending it into Sony??

No, if you cannot unlock the bootloader then you cannot root. (Currently)
Hi there.
I have an Xperia E1 from o2. I've already rooted it but when it comes to the bootloader, it says: bootloader unlock allowed: no.
Is there any way to unlock the bootloader so I can install a custom rom?
Thanks.
If I recall correctly, once you have obtained the network unlock code to allow any operators sim card to work in your device, you can contact Sony and in some instances they will arrange for it to be collected and returned with an unlockable bootloader.
However were possible it's always best to buy a phone off network as they come network unlocked, bootloader unlock allowed yes along with a bloat ware free rom.
I have rooted my Z3 today and it seems I cannot unlock the bootloader on this device, it says no on service menu. Is anyone able to suggest another way to get past this? Am I correct in guessing it's EE (UK) who supplied the phone who decided to lock the bootloader?

hi
i am having my Xperia Z3 D6616 idle for more than 5 months, meaning? its not sim unlocked. actually unable to unlock it. i did not know that t-mob disabled the SIM unlock code pop up in their phones.
i am not in US right now so unable to unlock the phone as i bought from ebay as new. totally fed up with this situation.
i am tried all over the forum and waited log time to get the root, i felt it will be unlocked after then. but unfortunately rooting did not shed any light on unlocking possibility.
so far
1. D6616 cannot be Sim unlocked without Tmob support
2. No custom firmwares.
3. will not boot if international Firmware flashed via flashtool. or flashing pre rooted zips.
4. its known that it the boot loader cannot be unlocked.
i am looking for D6603 firmware ported to D6616 so that we can flash into recovery and get the sim unlock code Pop up to Enter the unlock code.
or anyway how to port the simunlock app from international D6603 FW to make it work on D6616.
I saw and tried HTC one M9 T mob sim unlocking method and it worked on HTC one M9. (the link is below) is it possible can we follow the same method to unlock the D6616 also.
looks like T-Mob disable sim unlock pop up in their phone to restrict the user to unlock as they wish.

i request some developer help how to get this done. i believe they are so generous and helpful. at least some guides on how to make it.

I'm facing the same problem, all servers are down indefinitely. One guy also found if your phone never were used or registered in T-mobile network, can't be registered as elegible to unlock, this is my worst problem, I'm outside of USA with brand new expensive phone . If some one found any other solution to unlock, I'll appreciate the information
Unlock service is up.
Now we can unlock xperia Z3 with t mobile app,
The service is up. I bought the unlock service from cellphoneunlock.net
This service cost 50$, but this is the only option for D6616. Time will 3-6 days. I unlocked two of my D6616 after years

not that I believe in pay for those type of services. but I have a z3v and am in a similar position. I was wondering if you could check if your bootloader unlockable status has changed from no to yes or how can u flash stock z3 firmware with only a sim unlock.

This has nothing to do with the bootloader, it is for unlocking the sim only. The z3v is alread SIM unlocked, but, like the T-Mobile d6616, the bootloader is locked and likely to stay that way.
