Hi,
I have a Samsung Note P3100. I am running 4.1.1 android. The problem is that I cant install CWM recovery to my Samsung Galaxy Tab:
I use this instructions to flash CWM through ODIN:
III. Installing CWM Recovery on Galaxy Tab 2 7.0
1. First of all, close Kies software on your PC.
2. Reboot your Galaxy Tab 2 into the download mode. You can do so by pressing and holding both Volume DOWN and Power keys together.
3. Press the Volume UP key to enter into the download mode.
4. Launch the Odin Tool on your PC by double-clicking on Odin3 v1.85.exe file.
5. Connect your tablet to your PC using the USB cable.
6. From the Odin Tool, choose PDA and then select the recovery.tar.md5 file you downloaded earlier. You will have following screen:
[ Select "PDA" option ]
7. Click on the Start button to begin flashing recovery. Your tablet will reboot when the flashing is done
Everything Goes well, I see success in ODIN. But when I goto recovery by using Volume UP and Power keys simultaneously. It shows me the Stock recovery instead of CWM Recovery. And I am not being able to root my tab either. I used superoneclick, Heimdall but to no effect. Cant root it. The Heimdall says this:
Initialising connection...
Detecting device...
ERROR: Failed to access device. libusb error: -12
What does this error mean?
Can somebody help me in this?
Thanks in Advance!

OP said he can't boot into recover or download mode
Hello,
XDA, would it be possible to look into rooting a Samsung Note Edge (SM-N915T) with Marshmallow 6.0.1. I've tried different things, but there doesn't seem to be a process for this phone with that OS.
Let me know.
Thanks,

you should flash via Odin for CWM and pull out battery method if notified FAIL, also cautioned about the SUPERSU must be 2.76 which patched the Samsung security updated, i was success rooted my Sprint 915P FW6.0.1 dueto this way
I rooted my phone following this procedure (the FY version of the Note Edge but should work for any other)
You need the following tools:
Samsung drivers:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/3d61st8zaxas4pt/SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones_1_5_6_0.exe?dl=0
Odin 3:09:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/ua0sqizz1m6558d/Odin3_v3.09.zip?dl=0
SuperSU 2.74:
https://download.chainfire.eu/964/SuperSU/BETA-SuperSU-v2.74-2-20160519174328.zip?retrieve_file=1
and CWM for the T version of the Note (from this thread):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/not...15s-n9150-cwm-based-recovery-6-0-5-1-t2954960
Move all files to a folder on the PC.
Copy the SuperSU your Cell (SD card int/ext).
Install the drivers for the phone.
Then go with the phone in the DL (download) mode.
Start Odin, connect the phone to the PC.
If Odin recognizes the cell phone continue.
Some side notes:
To get in DL (download) mode use key combination <VOL DOWN + HOME + POWER>.
To get in recovery mode use key combination <UP VOL + HOME + POWER>.
Press these buttons simultaneously.
You flash CWM in DL mode via Odin (in "AP" insert CWM) to the mobile phone.
It is important that you previously deactivate "Auto Reboot" in Odin.
When the flash process is finished, you just wait one minute after you have pressed the "Start", pull the cable from the phone and remove the battery.
Wait a couple seconds, and put the battery back inside.
Now, and this is important, you have to come directly into recovery mode.
If the phone starts normally into the system, CWM is overwritten with the standard recovery.
If you're in CWM, you go to "Install zip" and select the SuperSU to install.
ATTENTION: if CWM asks you to install root or SuperSU, answer with NO, else you get a bootloop!
Now you can Restart, normal into the system.
That's it already, if you're in the system, you install this app from Play Store:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrummyapps.rootchecker
When you got root just update SuperSU and install busybox and you are good to go

Would this work with N915F International?
Thanks,
If we already have recovery do we still need to step backwards and install cwm, also do we just not let supersu update to 2.79 and leave it at 2.74 or 2.76?
I appear to only have partial root, none of the app's are [rompting me to grant or deny supersu.

flash an old version of supersu!
I'm unable to boot into TWRP. Tried everything and searched everywhere but can't make it work.
After installing it with Odin I manually turn it off. When I boot the phone into recovery mode it says "recovery is not seandroid enforcing" and I'm unable to do anything and have to pull off the battery. The phone boots normally otherwise.
I want to root this phone, what can I do?
My phone j2 2015 is encrypted with password
Using odin i flashed TWRP 3.1.1.0 img.tar and i found not installed Twrp. I checked auto reboot option..
Is this will work 100% ?

Merhaba J2lte 2015 e uyumlu custom rom varmı ben aradım bulamadım. Link verirmisin
This unlocks the bootloader?
||READ EDIT BELOW||
Device : J200F
TWRP is not installing. Before anyone starts raging and call me noob and tell me to go die. Im doing this for the first time in my life and i havent really messed with Android permissions and stuffs like flashing etc. Total noob here looking for help to learn how to properly do this. If you dont want to help me, atleast point me to the right tut/person before you berate me. I know. "google has them, youtube shows them". But think for once, would i be here asking help from you guys if the obvious things worked for me? Onto the issue now :
Using latest odin and TWRP recommended by custom OS as i wanted to flash new rom. Download mode starts up and says "Downloading", but nothing ever happens, and in odin, it says 'all threads completed (succeed 0 / Failed 0)'. This is my first time and i tried following all instruction and i do not understand if i messed up somewhere. Is root a pre-requisite, because i havent rooted my device yet and nor was i told to root it to install TWRP.
Also, i beg your pardon if i seemed rude, and replied to a thread old. I was frustrated as i looked at "odin fails to boot twrp" and as soon as i found this in XDA, i had to check this.
||EDIT||
I fixed this. It seems i did not have the right Samsung drivers and my phone wasnt being recognized / added to the Odin setup. A friend of mine had rooted his J2, so he told me to download it, and i did (No Links, sorry). This fixed it and i successfully flashed my phone. Might as well include this as beginners may not know. Thanks.
My emojis are dumb
I try to install twrp through odin but after the process is done it says in the recovery "no command" then go to the android recovery.
1. Download TWRP: https://eu.dl.twrp.me/zeroflte/
2. Start Odin as Admin
3. Boot Device into Download Mode
4. Connect your S6 to PC (Odin should show "Com 1" for example)
5. Click on "AP" and then choose twrp
6. Deactivate Auto reboot in odin
7. Flash it
8. When its done, hold Volume Down + power
9. Directly after screen goes black, make volume up + homebutton + Power
10. Now it should be flashed
thankyou

Root is not needed. You can download any rom, Noble Experience for example, and then you go into recovery. But make a nandroid backup. Then choose the rom, follow aroma installer instructions. After that, you can flash a custom kernel like noxx. For root, use Magisk. You can find everything here in xda
Root (as a Magisk) will be depends because that's will be at Stuck of Only Recovery anyway in without Magisk... - Beside of "Auto Reboot" or Not: Doesn't be have a difference.
Backup is require or not
Is there anyway to flash TWRP without ODIN or root , as I have no access to a PC?
