Hello everyone, and thanks for taking the time to attempt to help me.
Earlier today, my T-Mobile Galaxy S5 updated to 5.1.1. I searched google and came across a few links on how to root my phone (G900T) - The one I ended up using was CF-AutoRoot
I used Odin 3.07, used the tar5 file from that site above where I downloaded the root, and attempted to root the phone. Odin says everything worked as planned ''passed'' was displayed with 0 fails. I waited about 20 minutes, but my phone never rebooted, it was stuck in a boot logo loop ' 'Samsung Galaxy S5 powered by Android'' or ''T-Mobile'' was displayed.
I tried going into recovery and reseting all data / factory wipe but that didn't help, and made it even worse. Now my phone says this when I try to turn it on: ''Firmware upgrade encountered an issue, Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again''
How do I go about getting back to stock firmware , that is rootable, so I can then proceed to install CyanogenMod?
EDIT: I used Kies and was able to get back to stock firmware and the phone turns on.
Can anyone recommend a reliable root for the G900T S5?

It's good to hear that you managed to revive your phone. Many of us find it convenient to install a custom recovery such as TWRP which makes backing up and restoring, switching ROMs, and many such activities much easier. XDA happens to have an active and friendly area dedicated to the Samsung Galaxy S5, and specifically to the T-Mobile version at http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-galaxy-s5. So I tried to root my Samsung Galaxy S6 today using TWRP and it got stuck in a boot loop. I went to wipe to cache and accidentally wiped to system. So now there is no OS installed. I know I need to somehow put an OS on the device but I'm in Canada and when I go to samsung's site to download the firmware, there is no Canada option. I bought the phone off of amazon and it came with a European wall charger because it was imported, but how do I know what firmware to download?
Also, when I have found the right firmware, how do I flash it onto the device? I can no longer access TWRP, all I can get is the downloading screen thing. Can I use Odin/how do I use Odin?
Somebody help me I'm panicking because I broke my brand new phone!
You should check the Amazon listing to see which model number you have. It's probably SM-920F.
Once you have the correct firmware downloaded, Google a guide to flashing Galaxy S6 firmware with Odin. There are a lot of them out there.

On the back of the phone it should say which model you have, for example G920F, G920W8, G920P etc.
Download the proper firmware from Sammobile, then follow the tutorial that the following thread has a link to.

If the variant you have is the European model, G920F, I recomend you install the unbranded firmware.
IMPORTANT! MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE PROPER FIRMWARE! INSTALLING THE WRONG FIRMWARE CAN HARD BRICK YOUR DEVICE!

Really important is only that you pick the right model to download. The region isn't that important. Go to sammobile and download your stock rom, but be sure to not pick a branded one, because they are full of junk.
Also, you must use ODIN in that Download-Mode. Open ODIN, plug your device into your pc and see, if ODIN shows up your device. If yes, select "PDA" or "AP" (depending on ODIN Version) and select your ROM that you have downloaded. Then click on start. Don't touch your phone, your cable or your computer for best results. Wait ODIN say "PASS" with a green background. If this occurs, your phone should restart and after 10 mins or so, it should boot Android.
I did the same this as the OP, now I am stuck on the main "Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Powered by Android" screen. I can boot into TWPR and into download. I have tried flashing zip from external SD card with USB-OTG with no luck, I have tried flashing from Odin, multiple Odin versions tried, multiple usb cords tried, multiple computers tried.. all result with <ID:x/xxx> Can't open serial(COM) port."
No matter what I do, I can't seem to get anything to take, not stock firmware or otherwise. Any suggestions.. donations for anyone who can help me solve. lol $$

i'm in the same situation , stuck in bootloop for the last 3 days ive tried everything on youtube and forums , with odin with smart swich with kies with twrp , nothing , same bootloop everytime. don'tknow what to do .....
get the model number of your phone and flash the latest firmware through Odin

In odin under options untick Auto Reboot.
Flash Rom
Phone wont reboot once rom has flashed successfully so you will need to do manual reboot.
Go into recovery mode and wipe data.
Reboot phone
that should help let us know if it works
wifi wont turn on
hi, i managed to install the firmware but now the wifi and bluetooth wont turn on, wifi toggle and bluetooth wont go on, it looks like is trying toget on but after 20 seconds justgo back to off. idont know what to do .........
I can't even get any firmware to load as odin continually stops within seconds of starting to flash phone, no matter what firmware I choose it's the same result failed flash?
Good morning dear. I would like to know if someone has happened that after installing any official version for S6 920F appears an error that says that the phone has stopped and starts to fail completely, without Network but if it has imei. This happens after finishing with PASS in green. I could go into download mode and update it again and give the same error. I did it again with BTU firmware it gives me the same error again. why you don't use smart switch to recover your phone?
good afternoon forum friends, recently I have had a big problem with a samsung on5 sm-g550T from Tmobile which will install the twrp, then proceeded to root to install the foldermount app and pass data from the games to the sd, the problem is that after the root and install the app the phone suffered a softbrick since it did not go beyond the t-mobile logo, I made a noob error and from the TWRP I made a total full wipe , after that the phone when it came to the samsung logo remained the black screen.
I have tried to solve flashing the following firmwares with odin 3.11. - 3.11.1 and 3.12

ready and solve only I had to flash this firmware that was correct for the version of t mobile sm-g550t

I rooted my phone a a few days ago and now I'm trying to get back the official firmware which should be possible.
I flashed TWRP, SuperSU and "no-verity something".
Yesterday I tried to unroot my phone and I saw in a tutorial I only have to press the fully unroot button in SuperSU and it should work.
Well it did, but I still couldn't open Snapchat I thought it was TWRP. I saw that I need root access to uninstall TWRP. I tried to flash SuperSU once again and then my phone just gave up.
It didn't break or something, but when I boot my phone normally it I get an error message, I have a german phone... I can't translate it perfectly, but it says some "integrity check" has failed and I have to factory reset my phone. That's where the problems started.
When I press the "reset" button, it tries to factory reset my phone, but I think it can't read internal memory. When I connect it to my PC it only shows my SD card.
When I go to wipe on TWRP it shows "internal memory 0MB" and I think it has some difficulties reading the internal memory.
My question is, is there a possibility to get the J710FN firmware and all the things back, like the original recovery and all the things.
I tried to flash the original global firmware via ODIN3 v3.12.3 but it fails. My phone says "SW REV CHECK FAIL Device: 4 Binary: 3"
I just want to get back the original firmware without any rooted things so my phone works again.
Oh and I tried to factory reset it in case somebody thinks that's the problem.
Factory resetting doesn't work, because I THINK my phone can't read the internal memory.
I really hope someone can help me.

I think sw rev check fail (software reverse)mean's that you are trying to flash an out dated firmware (in comparison to the firmware that your phone has on it now)Your phone will block you trying to downgrade your firmware.
Before you do anything you could try the emergency software update and Initialisation in smart switch,I think you need is your phone's serial number(if you still have the box i will be on there)
If all else fail's you could try downloading the most up to date software from sammobile and flash it with the most up to date version of odin you can find
