I'd love to do this. Takes up too much of the bottom of my screen!

Not for 100% of the time. They made immersive apps but that's it. Please read before posting ignorant comments.

On the N4 it was possible with:
Go to system/build.prop/ and add the following line at the end of the build.prop file: qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
Reboot.
To re-enable set 0 to 1 and reboot
Don`t know if this will also work on the N5, need root off course.

Thanks for the tip. I'll check it out. Although I think they changed how you disable them because I couldn't disable them when I upgraded my Nexus 4 to 4.4 either.

I quite like the soft keys, but it is annoying in games. Looking forward to pie control in future roms.

I have read all and being a nexus 5 user u sld know better.
How are you supposed to control your phone without the capacitive buttons..that nexus lacks...how easy it is in case of pie controls to swipe to get menu???

Haven't tested it on the Nexus 5 yet, but with my old GNEX I used the Xposed framework with the GravityBox module which offers this functionality (hide nav bar and use pie controls).
How do you enable built in full screen from Google ?

Yes, it does. I did this on both of my N5s and used PieControl.
PieControl works OK but I prefer the GMD app on my N4 though. Waiting for the dev to enable it on the N5.

You need root to write to build.prop since you need to mount /system as R/W.

Great. Enable the root functions of ES File Explorer and edit away.
disabling soft keys in n5
It does work if you root your phone - I followed this and am happy now:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hOa3uX4CY2s
edited system/build.prop/ and installed handy soft key.

Root access -enables- you to mount /system as R/W. It does not mean every file explorer app does so 'on the fly'. First make sure /system is mounted as R/W, then edit build.prop.

You don't necessarily have to have a custom ROM. You just need root. I'm stock rooted and I installed gravitybox which is an xposed module. Gives you lots of options and tweaks.

Gravitybox has the option to add shortcuts to the unlock ring. It allows 5 different shortcuts. You just need root, download xposed, then check gravitybox, thats it.
Is there a way to hide root from isis wallet without xposed? Its really hard to give up the battery life of art for isis. Anybody know anything?

I cant get isis mobile wallet to work it keeps picking up root. I have tried the rootcloak plus also and also rootcloak plus through xposed and isis keeps picking up root, and this was with the isus verizon activity app added to the list to block and there are no other verizon apps on the list to block. Anyone ?
Figured it out working now.

I was using root cloak wrong I thought you had to delete the verizon isis one off the list instead it needed to be left alone and then it worked, just mixed up what I was supposed to do. Just install the app and do what it says and dont remove the verizon isis one on the list.
Greetings, I recently lost root on my Nexus 5 because I wanted to switch from supersu to superuser. I uninstall supersu from the app itself. I installed superuser and then tried to download the binaries, but it failed. But my bootloader is still unlocked and I have twrp as my custom recovery.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
Did you actually uninstall the binaries from SuperSU?
What rom are you on?

As far as I am aware, SuperSU is the only choice.
I tried reinstalling supersu but it doesn't work another thing is that I believe supersu is being detected by some games as a hacking application, once I removed supersu my games started working again. Just wanted to fund out if it really was supersu
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
If you removed the binaries, the only way to get SuperSU is to flash it.
And Is it possible for me to flash superuser? Or am I stuck with supersu? I have no problem with supersu I like it. It's just not compatible with a few games I have.
